It's pretty hard to predict this game accurately. Based on the Steelers success in recent playoffs, let's face it, most of us are past being pissed off at how successful they have been. Hate them as we do, it's hard not to have a little voice inside saying " ah shit, those f#$%ers are going to win again.

Sanchez and Rogers (read bye bye Bears), are both guys who don't worship the Steelers and who are not going to be gun shy if their team gets behind.

At my age I have lived to see several changing of the guards, or Shift of power, whatever you want to call it. Namath urinating on the NFL prognosticators. The 64 Browns showing the Powerhouse Colts that football was a young mans game, Tarkenton coming up empty, YA Tittle kneeling on teh frozen field, all busted up and spent.............

    Man, I love football!

Good post, but as someone who's been a fan as long as you, I disagree.

It's going to be Steelers-Bears my friend.

I posted earlier in this thread about the Steelers, I just don't see them losing another AFC Championship on their home field.

The Bears will shock the world and beat Green Bay. I think the Pack is definitely the better team, but the Bears will persevere. Green Bay has had 4 or 5 elimination games in a row, it's going to catch up with them this weekend.

if that happens, just give the steelers the superbowl trophy now. chicago would be the worst team to ever play in a superbowl.

Light years between Ben and Mark.....LIGHT YEARS!

ONLY when it comes to as I said their "resume". When it comes to actual Quarterbacking skills I simply have to say "Not so fast my friend", I am not sure at this point that BR is a more accurate passer, a better reader of defenses, etc. Sure, BR has those two rings, but this is only Sanchez 2d season, and he is already playing in his second conference championship, so his resume contains some stuff too. As I said, I do give the strong edge to BR, but it is more like a few lengths (using horse racing terminology).

As far as the RB's against the D Steelers!

Again, light years between Reavis and Polamalu.....LIGHT YEARS Reavis does one component of the total better than TP, TP does ALL the rest better than DR......LIGHT YEARS! Any QB would tell you that....with DR, you simply don't throw at him, with TP, you have to worry every single play about him.......LIGHT YEARS

Again, here, this is simply your boner for TP talking. Does he do some things different than Reavis? Sure. He might tackle and blitz better than Reavis. (though I can't tell you how many times I saw him whiff on tackles in that game vs. the ratbirds), but the 90% job of a DB is to stop the other teams WRs. Reavis does that better than anyone.

I will grant you one thing that Froggiegirlyman does better than Reavis: Show off by running around with his silly hair flying.

No surprise, just settin the record straight...

  • How are his chances nil of beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh? He already beat them there and is coming in with a lot of momentum.

Game is a Toss up... Turnovers and special Teams will determine winner. Not the home Crowd... Home crowd no a big deal in a Conference Title game.

  • QB against the D.....Huge advantage Steelers

RBs against the D .....Advantage Tie - Mendenhall is a pretty good runner, but LT and Greene are also a good combo

WRs against the D .....I'll take the Jets because Edwards and Holmes are much better than Brown, and Sanders, and an aging ward(who is still reliable)

OL Against the D.......I'll take the Jets. They can run block and pass block excellently

    DL against the O.....Advantage Steelers

LBs against the O......slight advantage Steelers( Steelers LB are faster, and the Jets LB are slightly slower, but still good)

DB......Two words......Darrelle Revis... he is much more a game-changer than Polamalu. How many elite cornerbacks are in the league? I'll give you an answer: only one and his name is Revis....

    Special teams........Advantage Jets

  • I don't give a damn who wins, but FUKC the Squealers. That is all.

  • Yeah either way you look at this game its pretty evenly matched.. They both have physical defenses..

who ever gets the breaks, turn overs and field position wins

Yes, I agree. That is essentially what I said. Note that I also said that the Steelers have had the better of it this season in TO ratio. Just look at last week's game.

  • What do you get when you eat a Roethlisberger?

    GANG GREEN!

  • It's the draft. Cleveland has been so insanely inept at drafting, that anyone

could do better if they picked up a predraft magazine or looked at a website

    minutes before the draft.

I am not kidding. Browns have been _that_ bad at drafting since, well, since

the 1980s. Just look at who they picked, especially the super high picks

they accumulate each year for having such a horrible record - almost

every single season. With picks that high, they should be able to luck

into drafting some probowl-level players. But no - they still screw up the picks.

2010 might be the first decent draft that have had in over 25 years.

2010 1 1 7 7 Joe Haden DB Florida - maybe the first decent first round pick

    since.....I don't even know when.

    2 2 6 38 T.J. Ward DB Oregon - Seems decent too.

3 2 27 59 Montario Hardesty RB Tennessee - Horrid pick and they gave up a bunch

of picks to get him. He will never be healthy for any length of time and I warned Browns fans of this

as soon as they drafted him.

4 3 21 85 Colt McCoy QB Texas - Could be a steal. We will see if he doesn't

end up having his career ruined just from being in Cle, ala Tim Couch. Couch was considered a can't

miss prospect, but just being in Cle ruined his entire career. He ended up having a pop gun arm

and too weak of a character. Didn't he literally cry about the fans being too mean to him? 5-8 are

    all nobodies.

    5 3 28 92 Shawn Lauvao G Arizona State

    this shi--y?

2 1 22 22 Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame - Garbage. Horrible pick. What a waste.

    3 3 3 67 Charlie Frye QB Akron - garbage.

    4 4 2 103 Antonio Perkins DB Oklahoma - who?

I don't even need to go on. It is powerfully evident that Browns suck at drafting so bad, it

appears they are TRYING to suck. Wasn't Courtney Brown supposed to be a hall of famer?

He sucked. So did William Green. Tim Couch? My God, it is amazing one team could

have that many super horrible high draft picks.

  • Actually, you exposed that you don't have a complete clue of the worth of some of the later round players.

These high-selected players have sucked because we have not been able to establish any consistency since our expansion, and just about anyone would have failed in the system. Also, Big Ben would have sucked here.

It is also stupid to blame in hindsight. Noticed how you listed just about every selected recently as a decent pick? ... oh, except of course a player who hasn't seen a down yet because of injury.

Who should we pick this season, loverboy?

  • Silverback: I agree that the Browns drafting is part of the problem we have had around here, but it is only a portion of the problem. The dysfunction in the organization overall and the inability of the coaches, be they HCs or OC/DCs to put their stamp on the organization are probably far, far more of a problem.

Counter that with the Steelers who have had extraordinary stability in an organization with the Rooney business model, plus, they have had a coach on that team who has essentially, in my mind the end all and be all of the Steelers success. And I am not talking about Tomlin or Cowher before that, but I am talking about LeBeau.

My contention all along has been that he does what Bum Phillips always talked about: (He can take his'n and beat your'n or he can take your'n and beat his'n). In the recent times that the Steelers have had success it has been with LeBeau as the Steelers DC. I believe that he could take those guys that you listed the Browns as having drafted and got very nearly the same success out of them that he got out of the guys that he has had.

  • First off you two it's REVIS! not REAVIS. As far as those two are concerned and changing games it's Troy Polamalu but a SUBSTANTIAL margin. Revis is asked to shut down the number one guy. Doesn't come up in run support often, doesn't float in coverage, doesn't blitz anywhere close to as much. Revis is one hell of a player but he doesn't have the impact that Polamalu does on a opposing offense. As far as Ben is concerned it's light years. You can't argue otherwise and shouldn't argue otherwise and the fact that you are highlights one thing Gipper. You're still wearing the Brown colored glasses.

This game is such an even match up, it will come down to turn overs.. I agree gayben is better than Sanchez, but the Jets oline also is alot stronger.

if this guy plays well, the jets win.

  • The Browns have been a has been team since the NL merger. Modell was their only hope but they told him to go f-ck himself and said no to a new stadium while investing in new venues for the Cavaliers and Indians. And Cleveland calls itself a football town? this football town just cannot compete at the elite level and with Holmgren (who will retire in 2-3 years) they won't anytime soon.

No team has run the ball on the Pittsburgh Steelers and there isn't a better core of LB's in the league. Add in the fact that the Pittsburgh defense is the consensus number one D in the league all leads to one thing. The game being placed on Sanchez and I don't believe Sanchez will handle the pressure in Pittsburgh against a hungry defense. The Pittsburgh offense is also much better. The Jets have a long, hard road ahead of them and I don't believe the teams are all that evenly matched when you factor in the Pittsburgh defense. If anything we're most evenly matched with Baltimore.
