Yeah, cuz every single good player is from the SEC mik ๐Ÿ˜†

  • man you guys are assholes. i never said they would suck. BUT I"LL GUARANTEE neither of you had even heard of any of those guys until the browns pulled the trigger on them.

not every great player comes from the SEC douchebag. it's just the best conference in college football.

    get it straight.

  • Jerry Sandusky walks into an elementary school just as classes are let out for the day, when a teacher approaches him & asks, "so which child is yours?" Sandusky replies: "I don't care, surprise me."

to be fair I had heard about both linebackers Johnson and Acho. Others were no namers to me.

No, I am done with the browns. Just come here our of habit.

then find another habit....like meth or a domestic violence scheme. no need for fans who just fall off a bandwagon, pick themselves up and move to being a steelers fan or cowboys fan.

"hit the road jack. don't you come back no more no more. no more no more. hit the road jack, don't come round here no more."

1 more season > loyalty none.

Why do you think they were drafted on the 3rd day anyway. It's because they never consistently have shown up in CFB, so don't complain about who we draft from the 4th-7th rounds because they're really supposed to be projected as career back-ups. If they become starters or pro-bowlers that's just a bonus.

Exactly- if you can pick up a Tom Brady in the sixth, or a Marquis Colston in the seventh- count yourself extremely lucky.

    I agree with that.

Here is how I view it per round.

1st....at minimum a solid, top 3rd player at his position. Could start for most teams.

2nd....turns in to a solid starting NFL player. Could start for many teams

3rd....at minimum a good spot starter and top of the line back-up player. Could start for several teams.

4th...A solid back-up and a core special team player. A player who pushes the starters.

    5th...a special teamer

6th..a specialty player like a kicker, or a guy with a little something in several areas

7th..a wing and a prayer. Has a special gift...like real fast, but lots of questions.

Do you guys not get that his statement of being 1000% Steelers Fan was simply rhetoric for the fans who thought he wasnโ€™t going to be good for the Steelers as he was a professed fan of two other organizations?

Just like a player who grew up a die hard Browns fan, goes and plays for another team, will become a fan of the team heโ€™s on. Same for a Coach. Same for an owner.

Should he buy the Browns, he will become a Browns fan over a Steelers fan.

    No kidding.

They aren't going to drop close to a BILLION dollars on the Browns, yet still be Steeler fans.

Face it, in the world of sports, not many team owners were fans of the team before they bought it. They simply had the desire to be a team owner, and took the leap at the first team that came available.

It's a pretty closed society. There aren't that many teams to hit the market, and there aren't that many people with the ability to buy the ones that do.

That is right. There are only 31 of these "assets" in the nation that can ever come up for sale (exclude Green Bay) and a least a few of them have been in the same family for over 80 years (Giants/Steelers/Cardinals/Bears/Lions). Maybe 2 or 3 of these ever comes up for sale in a decade. When they are available you better jump if you want one....and it shouldn't matter which one.

Randy Lerner was almost as much an absentee owner as these guys would be. He had already moved back to Long Island.

  • at least he's from here, knows the opponents in our division and doesn't play polo or soccer.

    doomed franchise? for how long?

He is not from here, he is from Knoxville......and you know how obnoxious those Knoxville Browns fans can be, right? ๐Ÿ˜†

Not only that, but they may have free motor oil night at teh stadium, That would be cool.

I thought the Flying Js were known for their 32 oz, Slushies?

Thaak, walleye man, I havne't always hated Lener. I did think it was not kosher that Al found what was it, $100 million for Modell to move, but he was nowhere to be found lending his experience and money help keep teh team in Clevelnd.

Im not whining about the way things turned ou, just saying, to me sense of fair play, that was fudged up.

In the first couple years, I was a fan of Lerner, I thought his money and apparent love for Clevelnd was just the recipe for healing that we needed. After 2 years though, I lost faith in him.

Some people think that an owner is not an integral part of whether a team wins or loses. I greatly disagree.

I believe that the man on top establishes teh corporate culture, the mood, the energy for the rest of teh company. Jerry JOnes for instance, is an asshole and his team reflects that.

Rooney is a quite family man with a lot of old world fundamental beliefs, and his team reflects that.

I think if a boss doens't know what is really going on, if he attends soccer games instead of NFL rival games, it broadcasts an atomosphey that is lackadaisical. Shit roll down hill, as it were. An owner cant crak teh whip, but if he is a guy who passionately loves his football team, he is going to attract people who are like minded.

WHat fishing is mroe fun for you that fishing with guys who love the walleye, pike and Muskee? What if you went out with three dickheads liek West SIde Steve, Hoorta and Roach? (Kidding, you know those guys are dear to me).

I'm just saying, I think an owner does set the tone. I don't think Randy is a bad guy, but he doesn't love football.

    SPEAKING OF LOVING FOOTBALL..................

I said htis before, but for all teh bashing I have done, I am going to say it many more times. reading teh story of Kosar being broke, misled, and a physical wreck, I can't help stop remembering how he said (paraphrase) I loved being the QB of the Cleveland Browns, I wish I still was.

Man, that shit got to me. The guy truly gave up his body for the love of the Browns. I don't care how the ownership of the Browns does it, by hook or crook, some way, they need to get that guys passion and undying love for the Browns in the FO.

I ain't bulshitting you, you all know how much I dissed this kid, If he can turn me around, I promise you, having him serve in a real player interacting capacity would go light years to restoring energy, vitality and honor to this franchise.

Well, if I was owner, thats what I would do.

Good post Ghoolie. And right on.

Im 1000% browns fan but if i became the owner of the bengals i am going to see to it that my bengals kick my beloved browns asses 2 sundays a year...

I dunno anything about this guy but he cant possibly be any less of an owner or any less invisible than randy has been..

I go to at least 3 training camps a year and have seen Randy at everyone and a few time at some of the games and multiple times in the box on T.V. I can guarantee that Haslam will be much less visible. He is still running a company with 500+ location...goes to multiple U.T. and Smokies games a year and has a huge family here in TN and is going to be in a brutal push to get Mitt elected. On top of that he is a big supporter of the local area and is constantly in the public eye down here...he is not shy. So, unless he has a twin and is going to retire and call it quits I would say he will be an absentee owner instead of a shy quiet owner that has loved the browns from the beginning. Also as everyone mentioned he is a die-hard Steelers fan however, he also is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. So, this has nothing to do with Cleveland and all to do about money. He is not Dan Gilbert who would have a crayon fight with anyone to defend Cleveland.

Well, with UT, he can just send them checks and go to games a few times a year. I don't know what the "Smokies" are. Some minor league team? He is in the majors now and can give up minor league crap. He can forget about politics. He can send a check and vote and that is it. Let his brother handle that crap.

And he is in his mid-50s now, right. And probably has some grown children? He can start letting them Fly the Flying Js and pilot the Pilot's. He can attend the monthly board meetings.

He is now the owner of The Cleveland Browns. That is at least a 3/4 of a full time job.

  • I've always said Lerner is much more suited to be the Indians owner, as opposed to being in the NFL or even NBA. The MLB is the only league where you can have a financial advantage over other teams, and not have to worry about salary caps. It would never happen, but I would much rather have him than the Dolans. At least Lerner wants to win, and doesn't lie to fans.

Gott in Himmel it would be nice to replace the Indians owners. Even with a soccer puss like Randy.

Although here is what Randy really should do: Build a soccer stadium and bring an MLS team here. Sure, we don't give a shit about succer, and there is already a team in Columbus. So what. Randy does give a shit, and he can take the $$$ he gets from Haslam and build his soccer team here.llif that is what he really loves.
