Josh Cribbs Makes Pro Bowl
-
Jacoby Jones backs out and cribbs fills in. Using my phone so I don't know how exactly to put a link up. We now have 3 pro bowlers does this make anybody want to watch the pro bowl a little more? Do we try to resign cribbs or with this latest pro bowl make him too expensive?

I don't think he "backed out" ... I think he went to the Super Bowl.
Had the Patriots won, Alex Mack and DQ would have been in instead.

like I said three years ago trade him now that he has value, and now he is a token representative (done) of losing

Only you would bitch about one of our guys making the Pro Bowl. He made it because statistically, he's still top 5 in the NFL as a kick returner.
Even if he doesn't return a single kick next year, he's still better than 98% of guys who play special teams in the NFL.
OK Ritchie- defense doesn't win championships- but not having one can sure lose you one. Go ask the Falcons and Patriots.

Here is the thing with Cribbs, I used to LOVE Josh. He played hard and loved the City. He said all the right things and was a impact player. This year he really got under my skin a little bit with his comments he was making thru out the season. Plus yes he did lose a step, because there was at least 5 returns he had where he got caught from behind or did not our run the angle like he use to do. Now do I think he still adds value to the Browns? Sure I do, but he would be more of a role player now than anything else..

Agreed with everything stated. Cribbs has been one of my favorite players since the return. I just dont think that he deserves a contract like he got, what 4 years ago? Towards the end he was playing like he didnt deserve it. Cribbs can take over in Ventrone's spot and have spot return duties on top of that, but we are finally getting some talent in here where I dont think we're going to want to hold on to 6 WRs with 1 of them strictly being special teams. The way I see it we have 3 WRs locked in: Gordon Little and Benjamin. We may or may not keep Cooper and/or Norwood. Massaquio is prolly gone, but could come back. I view all 6 of them as better WIDERECEIVERS than Cribbs. We may also draft one or go after 1 in FA. I just dont think there will be room for Cribbs.

Cribbs got paid and the chip on his shoulder that used to fuel him became a resentment towards the Browns.
This past season he spoke out twice saying something along the lines of not being happy with the coaching, his play time etc.
He is still a good returner and an even better coverage guy but not worth it if you ask me.
If he's coming out and saying these type of things to the media you can bet he is running his mouth even worse behind closed doors.

Awesome insight. Cribbs is one of the best special teamers in the league, so trade him for the value now. That's what great teams do, trade away good players while they are valuable. Lets see what we can get for DQ while we're at it.
Can Cribbs get us to a Super Bowl in the next couple of years? Probably not. Can he help us get to the playoffs? Would anyone else out there settle for a 9-7 playoff season. Lets stop being Retarded people

We can't trade him. He is a free agent. YOu would have to sign him to trade him.

This is true Gip. Got so worked up over others stupidity I forgot that for a second.

Only Browns fans would argue someone is bad when dude makes the Pro Bowl, even as an alternate. I see the browns letting Cribbs go this off-season however so it is what it is. He's been a great Cleveland Brown and with a few more TD's in his career might go down as one of the best return guys to ever play the game.

Cribbs is gone as a Brown.

Absolutely correct
-
Cribbs value as a Brown is really limited at this point. He's obviously never going to materialize as a WR, and he has definitely lost a step on returns. Travis Benjamin will do fine at a fraction of the cost. I've always thought Cribbs could be a good safety. I wonder if any thought has gone into moving him to the defensive side of the ball, or if he'd even agree to trying it.

27.4 on KO returns, 12.0 on punt returns and placed second Pro Bowl voting in both kick return and kick coverage categories.
Perhaps the most valuable special teamer in the league last year.
In 2008, when Chud was OC he used him in the WildDawg with 29 carries at 5.8 per carry, so I'm sure he sees some value in him.
Travis Benjamin is going to be a deep threat in Chud's vertical game ... why get him killed on special teams?
I see value in re-signing Cribbs. Nothing extraordinary because of his age ... but I certainly would make him an offer.
And we kept Tabor the ST coach too, so that could play in JC's favor.

Rich isn't a Browns fan.

Yea, if that weren't the meaningless Pro Bowl they may have called it incomplete.
