    1. No and No

    2. Lol a lot of them.

    3. I'm still hoping they find a CB, G, FB, WR, and TE in FA lol

    4. DL, OT, C, HB (unless they want to add a speedster)

    5. Why haven't they addressed the positions on #3?

I think RB is about the only position we're good at for the next 5 years. Richardson is a beast and Hardesty, when fit, looks a decent backup. Ogbannaya is a solid third choice and is durable enough that if/when there are injuries he'll step in and hold the fort.

We could happily go in to the season with the D-Line we have, but there seems to be an awful lot of talk about trading Rubin, so who knows, if he goes we probably need a replacement.

Oh, and, we're probably also set at LS.

Definitely need to find a starting CB, FS, & TE; probably need another WR, OG.

I realise I didn't really answer your question!

        1. No, Sheldon Brown if he goes to FS could be ideal - Haden, Ward, Brown, Milliner (making the assumption) would be one of the best secondaries around.

        2. The people I haven't heard of lol.

        3. I expect to see a TE come in through FA. I'd quite like to see an experienced route runner come in to help the guys we have.

        4. RB, NT, DE

        5. Who's going to be the breakout Brown this season? Cameron as a pass cather; Benjamin as a PR/KR/SR; Smelley as a FB; Weedon in this offence; another?

          4. Are there any positions you think the Browns are set at and need no further acquisitions?

You can't ever say that, but I like our group at T and C , the DL, and the starters at WR and RB

          5. Are there any questions I haven't asked that should be?

Only stupid people are talking about trading a D-lineman from a team that's in the bottom half of the league in total, run, and pass D. Banner explicitly said he wanted DL to be a strength. We have already achieved the maximum value from the DL picks. Rubin was a SIXTH round pick - and he is a borderline allpro. Winn was also a sixth round pick. We drafted Taylor in the first round for a reason.. to be a beast of an anchor, which he is. We need every one of our current DL on our roster, because the only "assets" being discussed would, if they left, leave a smoking wreckage where our previously good DL used to be.

Who wants to send me a check for $1000 if neither Rubin nor Taylor are traded to another team in the next 18 months?

I really hope you're right πŸ™‚ I'm new to this NFL malarky so it's difficult to distinguish absurd rumour from absurd fact - everyone was saying in the summer that Lombardi would be a ridiculous hire by Banner but it still happened.

Agree....question is: is Smelley going to be a TE of FB? Inquiring minds want to know.

You are new to this NFL malarky? Just curious, what does that mean? That you are like 10-12 years old? That you are from Europe or somewhere and are used to following other sports?

Or that you are just now getting into discussion about player personell and how they are acquired, be it draft, FA, trade, etc.

I've grown up with "real" football - soccer, to you lot, I suppose - in the UK. I started following the Browns a couple of years ago, in part due to Randy Lerner (who is chairman of my beloved Aston Villa, as I'm sure everyone knows - if it helps, we used to bitch and whine that he was distracted by the Browns all the time); also because I have family in Ohio - it took me a while to realise that there was another team in the state and by then I was already converted!

I watched the superbowl a few years in a row and realised it's actually great fun, so started taking a more serious interest.

                      Hope that helps πŸ™‚

                        1. Will any of the FAs be kept in your opinion? Should any be kept? Should resign Ventrone, going to need good special teamers with Cribbs gone, wouldn't be upset if they kept Sheldon Brown. Will they? probably not.

                        2. Aside from those FAs who else should be given the James Bond ejector seat treatment? Marisuck,Cousins

                        3. Which positions do you think should be shorn up in either FA or the draft? a guard, possibly another true inside lb,safety, corner, fullback

                        4. Are there any positions you think the Browns are set at and need no further acquisitions? I like our young talent at WR,RB,DL

How about instead of the whole roster, we look at the starting lineup first

                          QB - Weeden

                          RB - Richardson

                          WR - Gordon, Little

                          TE - Cameron, Davis

OL - Thomas, Greco, Mack, Lauvao, Schwartz

                          Subs - FB - Smelley, WR3 - Benjamin

                          DL - Taylor, Rubin, Bryant

LBs - Kruger, Jackson, Gocong, Sheard

                          CBs - Haden, Owens

                          FS - Young

Subs - NCB - Skrine, DCB - Wade

                          Biggest holes?

                          CB2 and ILB

Players I'm not confident with having them as a starter?

                          Sheard, Young, Lauvao, Smelley

                          Where are we set?

Players I'm not confident with having them as a starter?

                            Sheard, Young, Lauvao, Smelley

                            Where are we set?

                            RB, WR1, 2 OTs, LG, C, 3 DLs, 1 ILB, 1 OLB, CB1, SS (13 out of 26, not bad)

Not confident as having Sheard as a starter? Wow.

Yes he has to now move to LB so that can be risky, but Sheard is a great talent and we are lucky to have him as part of our defense. He led our team in sacks the past two years. Not saying 7.5 and 8 sacks is amazing but it was the best on our team.

                              QB - Weeden

                              RB - Richardson

                              Subs - FB - Smelley, WR3 - Benjamin

                              DL - Taylor, Rubin, Bryant

LBs - Kruger, Jackson, Gocong, Sheard

                              CBs - Haden, Owens

                              FS - Young

Subs - NCB - Skrine, DCB - Wade

I hear ya, but that switch to OLB from DE doesn't work for everybody... see Mario Williams. That is why I am not confident.

He is no doubt a solid pass-rusher, but can he cover when he needs to? I like Sheard and hope he works out but it is just a big "?" right now as a starting OLB. Either way, I think Horton will fit him into our D plenty b/c of his ability to get pressure.

Let's not get in to that! Just for clarity, both are types of football - American Football played in the NFL and Association Football, played just about everywhere else, so any debate about which is the 'real' football is pretty pointless πŸ˜‰

FYI, there is no such thing as "American Football". Anyone that uses that nomenclature is assinine.

There is: Baseball, football, basketball, softball, hockey, golf, tennis, bowling, soccer, tiddlywinks, cornhole, chess, checkers, auto racing, rodeo, bocce ball, darts, jarts, wrestling, quidditch, rugby, etc. etc. etc., none of which require qualifyers like Asian/African/European/Arctic/Antarctic/American/Martian/Venusian/Saturnian to them.

Love the word nomenclature, seriously underused these days! Anyway, the term is used by pretty much everyone outside America to describe the sport played in the NFL. To most other people, football means soccer. I'm not sure why it's so important though?

Just FYI, as for other sports not needing the prefix of the place it was invented? Well you've heard of rugby (technically Rugby Football) - this was invented in a town called Rugby. On top of that, you have Australian football, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and if you're feeling generous, Gaelic football. There are probably others, and I'm sure there are a load of stick fighting sports from Africa that are peculiar to that tribe that have been missed out.

Anyway, how about we just agree that when I say football on here, I mean what you mean? And if I want to talk about that other sport, I'll call it soccer?

Here is your second lesson: Fuck all what the rest of the world says or calls it. It is important because when you use that excuse it comes off as being the height of ignorance and arrogance. It IS simply football. There is no other name for it.

Unlike soccer...which, by the way was coined by the British, not the Americans or anyone else.

Just FYI, as for other sports not needing the prefix of the place it was invented? Well you've heard of rugby (technically Rugby Football) - this was invented in a town called Rugby.

But that is how it got its name. No one I have ever known ever called it "Rugby Football". Calling it Rugby Football would be superfluous....and confusing to some.

I know there are different versions of rugby, like Rugby Sevens, which you probably do have to distinguish simply because of the number of people on the field, I guess.

On top of that, you have Australian football, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and if you're feeling generous, Gaelic football. Do the people of Australia call their game "Australian football", or do the Gaelic people call that game "Gaelic football"? (Isn't "Gaelic football" also called hurling, or is that a different sport altogether)

Anyway, how about we just agree that when I say football on here, I mean what you mean? And if I want to talk about that other sport, I'll call it soccer?

That would be wise, and appropriate.

Fuck all what the rest of the world says or calls it. It is important because when you use that excuse it comes off as being the height of ignorance and arrogance. It IS simply football. There is no other name for it.

And you're calling him the arrogant and ignorant one? lol
