  • You wanna really be moved on the issue of racism, hear native Alabaman Bill Curry's tale of joining the Packers... and how he learned that everything people he trusted had told him about "blacks" was complete bullshit. So touching.

  • haven't seen it but i'll look for it online.

and he is correct about how he was brought up learned from people he had trusted about other races.

i learned my lesson one hot saturday afternoon in sandusky ohio what that racial term for blacks meant to them. it was not a good lesson for me by all faults.

then getting kicked out of the house at 18 and joining the army brought a lot of things into perspective and learned that we are all basically the same, with the same issues except our skins are different colors.

i had a wop from queens, a black guy from NC, a pothead from maine and myself as roomates at fort knox. i learned more in my life in that one six month period than i have in all my life.

we played tackle football across from the barracks on a grass field and i remember running a kickoff return and going the whole distance (but seeing this mean ugly MFing black guy that hated me cuz i beat him in cards and in boxing and was cool with all his brothers coming in from the side out the corner of my eyes for a death blow hit) and my black roomate gave up his body and blew the dude up in a crazy feet over the head block to save my azz.

god knows what we would have done for each other had there been a war. but i'll love him to the day i die.

and yes, he'll call me the N word everytime we still speak.

  • I digress.

Would Babe Ruth have been same prolific home run hitter if he had to face black pitchers during his career? How different would the history of NCAA football and basketball read if the college ranks had embraced the black man earlier than the mid 1960's? I suspect the record books would read much different than what appears now. I am not here to rankle anybody's cage but I think it is important to understand how segregation filtered down through the many layers of American society and how difficult it must of been for a black athlete to stick to his guns and endure the hostilities he/she faced in striving to play pro sports.

I was raised by racist parents south of the Mason Dixon line. Like you, mik, my time in the military, (doing figure eights on a fast frigate in the Med for months at a time), exposed me to latinos and blacks whom I discovered were not any different from me. A Puerto Rican from the Bronx turned me on to his home grown cassettes which contained some of the first hip/hop of the early 1980's. I would go on weekend trips to DC and hang with the home boys. My buddy, Hector, from Miami, would send care packages to my home when I was on leave ensuring a rocking good time. I have not heard from them in years, but I betcha if we were to get together somehow, it would be just like old times. I'm a better person for developing a tolerance my parents were totally incapable of understanding.

  • We just got back from going to Cedar Point and The Cleveland Browns Family Fun Night Vacation. It was awesomely awesome as expected! We rode so many rides at Cedar Point, it rained biblically twice and I'm still sore! It was amazing fun, can't wait to go again!

The Family Fun Night was great. It wasn't to hot, there was a nice breeze. The Wave was really fun. I hope that they start doing things like that during the games... That's the kind of thing that cheerleaders could help to initiate?

The little boy Encinas running the ball was touching. Man the place erupted in applause when he scored... loud enough to break a curse? Just in case I brought a lucky rabbits foot and had a couple of the players rub it for good luck. LOL

The fireworks show was the same time as the Hall of Fame Fireworks this year so we missed the HOF's which kinda sucked. But, the laser and fireworks show at the stadium(from the seats, no less) was a great show! The only issue was that the pictures on the field would be better seen from higher in the stadium so the effect was diminished from the bottom set. I spent 50 bucks on 6 Amazing Passes to see our favorite team, 3 Large Refreshing Sodas, 2 Bottles of Crisp and Cool Water, 2 Baskets of Fries, 6 Large Chicken Tenders, Autographs from a couple of Great Players, and 6 Tickets to a Cleveland Browns Themed Video/Laser/Fireworks Spectacle! We even saw Haslam's yacht.

We are going to really rock this year. I can feel it. Thursday will be a blow-out, even though it's preseason... the players are ready to take the next step.

  • Little looks intense? There must be two guys named Little, the one I saw can't catch the ball in traffic. Gordon either. What happens when they start getting hit?

Weeden has nice arm strength and seems to be accurate.

This training camp stuff is okay, but I am interested to see what happens when the hitting starts.

You were probably one of those guys we busted and put on restriction every few weeks.

yea, no doubt, we loved fucking with the loser, lifer master-at-arms when we ran across them on the beach (which wasn't often cause they were scairt to leave the ship). bunch of ball-less wonders they were. homo sez what???

  • Right tough guy, we busted your sorry asses so many times, I can't count them. LOL, talk tough now.

  • 😠

Just heard Lauvao was carted off the practice field - went down after Phil Taylor Bull Rushed him.

On a positive note, sounds like Weeden's having a hot day.

You were way to dumb, lifer, to get anywhere near slowing my roll. Only time you got near me, loser, was when you picked up my overflowing piss specimen which would always be clean. I had no problem at all telling you lifer losers what I though of you when I was with the fleet and twenty five years later I would tell you the same thing to your face. I got a real job when I finished my time........underachieving wanna-be-cops like you enjoyed spending twenty years with a bunch of squid homos.

why don't you spend some of your 1500/mo retirement pay and go by yourself a bottle of Wild Irish Rose, lifer-loser

  • Go fuck yourself slowfuck. You ain't shit, and have never been. You were a fuck up in the Navy, and never did shit. You talk tough, but your a fucking pussy. That much is a fact.

  • Sobo "insider" tweet: Contact says Browns are very high on Hoyer. He's "not just competing to be the third QB." He had a good practice today, too.

Weeden's "hold" on the job, if we can call it that, isn't very firm. He needs to play ball.

  • I'm pretty satisfied with my accomplishments, lifer. You sound a bit defensive. Why don't you call the local VA and tell them to pick you up in the

morning for a ride to the nearest VA facility where you can talk to some non-English speaking, Haiti Medical school graduate psychiatrist about

your anger issues? Put those veterans benefits to good use, lifer.

  • No, you got issues dude. You have problems because you were a fuck up in the Navy and you know it. Now, admit it or go on denying it.

  • This makes me miss when we had weekly get togethers in the Tavern and two guys would just go off on each other. I miss those days. I wonder if the Tavern works ... I guess I should check since we have a preseason game Thursday.

I have to agree here, a military man who leaves teh service to become..... a cop? A COP? Let's be honest here, in the draft of life, cops are like offensive linemen. Not the brightest bunch, are they?

  • I was a cop in the Navy stupid fuck.

I'm thinking shitty musician/ internet troll tops the list. If you look at college degrees, offensive lineman are some of the smartest guys in football.

  • MPs get a bad rap.

yeah most cops and MPs have/had the 'napolean complex' where they were shorter than everyone else, or ugly, or just stoopid and wanted a legal way to kick someone's ass w/o retaliation.

i had run ins with some cool guys that let me go after seeing me flick a joint (he called it a ufo) 10 yards when i saw their car flying across a filed in mz the pussy the pussy , but i also had one of the worse run-ins with MPs cuz i pissed off the #1 in charge dickhead on base.

i was literally 2 blocks from the gate of fort devens at a friends house partying on the lake, not fucked up (by my standards) and came on base with my new toyota celica GTS. just had it shipped in from germany where i bought it at the canadian PX 'car shop'. german gear ratiotransmission built for the autobahn. now this was not my first time driving on base. done it a million times. just so happens i get behind some dick who wants to do the exact speed limit (30 mph) on a stretch of road that equals i-95. so i blow by him and give him a dirty look and maybe i might have even flipped him off BUT so what. i got five miles to go until i get to my barracks where i can finally chill before PT the next morning. meanwhile i speed up and the guy starts following me right on my ass. i finally get to the barracks parking lot, get out of my car and this douchebag rides by REAL slow and staring me down. i told him to go fuck himself and he wrote down my license plate. i just thought he was just another pussy that wanted to know what i was about.

next day i get called to the provost marshall's office by my lesbian first sergeant and that asshole turned out to be the highest ranking MP on base. yes. he was the provost marshall.

anyways long story short i couldn't drive my car on base anymore. that was alright with me cuz i had his 19 year old daughter and 2 other girls drive me where ever i wanted, whenever i wanted.

yeah that's what looking like billy idol got you in 1986. black ass, white ass and a fucking lesbian first sergeant trying to bust my balls every second of the day.

FUCK YOU UGLY TROLL WHORE!! was it my fault you weren't born with a dick?

always like your stories mik, somehow you always seem to incorporate a hooker, some blow, and football all in one post...

    Thanks, you made me laugh.
