It's his nickname and it's easier to type out. Sue me. He's also already proving he's a baller by leading the team in tackles thus far and playing two positions. The Steelers NEVER trade future draft picks but they did for this guy, at the very least that says something about his character, his work ethic and his intangibles. I don't care if he's playing against 2nd team players, 1st team players, 3rd team players whatever. The guy is all over the field, making heavy hits. He's very much a Bob Sanders clone. We'll just have to wait and see if he puts it together in the regular season.

The Steelers recently drafts have been very bady althought they almost always grade out high by the pundits following the draft. Mendenhall wasn't KiJana Carter/Lawrence Phillips bust.....but he was no star. He was serviceable.
You might even say that he is like 90% of all RBs these days......he was only meant to provide a change of pace from the predominantpassing game. He did that a bit at times...but he didn't strike fear into the hearts of man.. If he did get 1K yards, he will have more than fulfilled his expectations.

It's actually not an excuse for all Steeler fans. I also brought up the Super Bowl comment BECAUSE when Ben isn't dinged the Steelers make deep runs. He's gone to 3 since entering the league. Go through all the teams in the NFL and see how many would excel with their franchise QB laid up. Unless the defense is truly dominant it's a TALL order and even when the Ravens won with Dilfer the league was very different penalty wise. Now qb's are protected so it's an even taller order to win now with just a dominant defense. Soooo yes if your franchise qb gets hurt it's a legitimate reason for a down season. If the Steelers roll out with Ben healthy for example and lose a bunch of games it's a different situation all together. You'd also have lost with weeden round two. You barely f**cking won with 8 turnovers by Batch and co.
