TRICH traded to colts

Peterson also has a 2,000 yard rushing season to his credit- get back to me when Richardson can say the same. šŸ™‚

    Once.

He's also only played a full season three times in his career.

I'm not comparing the two because AP is clearly in a different league. I'm saying that, through two games, even the best RB in the league has been shitty. And people complaining about Trent being injury prone tend to forget that AP is as well.

It's a two way street. You can argue both ways. I'm for the trade because it makes sense and you can get quality RB's anywhere. I'm against the fact that we laid 14 million for a Trent and got rid of him after 17 games.

+1. This is really how I've felt about the trade since it happened. I mean his trade value was only going to go down but I at least wanted to see the guy play half a season this year before throwing in the towel.

Why would I want to give someone who wants a refund full price + for his tickets...you make zero sense I'll be in my nice and warm in my vibrating lounger sipping my Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve Whiskey watching football entertainment and I'll pick up cheap tickets outside when the attendance fall..

Well, possibly you can understand some of the season ticket holders got damn POed about shelling out their cash- only to see the Front Office effectively throw the season in the toilet mid-September. Over reaction? Sure.

6-8 wins this year even with Richardson? Probably. Wheres the commitment to winning now, not in 2-3 years? We've been though how many 5 year plans, and I'm sick and tired of it. "Tanking for Teddy" excuse me while I barf. This team starts royally sucking, and I won't even bother watching the games- I'll hop on my bicycle for some long rides on these nice fall Sundays and catch the game later on DVR.

No need to be an ass about things when 1\2 the city wants to vent.

Pretty sure Zombo.com was created to give Brownie fans something to do on Sundays until December 1st.

You should give it a look.

  • Not exactly but agrees with the trade.

  • I feel really sorry for most of you. You are in a normal "make excuses for my organization" mode when your organization just made one of the biggest blunders in sports history.

RB is an important position, but it is a meaningless position if the offense has nothing else. Cleveland has terrible QB's and thus far in 2013 has trotted out the worst set of wideouts in the entire league, though obviously that will change when Gordon returns.

Trying to insinuate that teams DON'T put 8 in the box and don't try and focus on Richardson is laughable to anyone that actually watches the games.

I'm sure it was frustrating to have Richardson and to watch as he struggled. But it doesn't mean he doesn't hit the holes fast, that he isn't good and that he can't be fantastic.

He will be a superstar in Indianapolis, and you guys will miss the boat again. It's absolutely laughable to think that you fleeced a team because you got a first rounder. The first rounder is completely worthless unless you use it to actually get a player that is better than the one you gave away. Judging by the decisions made thus far, you don't have a lot to look forward to in that regard.

Trent now goes to a team that actually has a modern offense and isn't stuck in the 1950's. Jim Brown would have been fortunate to get 4 ypc in this offense.

I probably wouldn't watch any Colts games if I were you guys, because it will be extremely depressing.

Yeah, those teams with the Top RBs are really winning super bowls. You are right about QBs and WRs. Those along with OL are what win championships. Browns WRs and OL have been absolutely terrible.

RB is a dime a dozen position in today's NFL. AP, Shady, Foster, CJ (when he was good)... just like Cleveland, no superbowl wins.

Richardson wasn't leading Cleveland to the playoffs any time soon. No runningback will be leading their team to the playoffs any time soon.

Adrian Peterson had an absolutely stellar season, where exactly did the Vikings end up?

If they use that draft pick and get a fantastic #2 CB or a wideout to pair with Gordon, this trade will have been great for us.

If they package two first round picks to move up two spots and take a QB, this trade will have been awful. We should be picking top 3 next year. There are, at this point, two very solid college QB's (Boyd, Bridgewater) and a beast DE (Clowney) that will be in the 2014 draft. There may also be a couple other good QB's available as well (Manziel, UCLA guy who's name is escaping me).

If we can't get a QB in that scenario, it's time to finally give up. Move the team to France and become the Baguettes.

Or we just trade back again and again and again and play for Jameis Winston, whenever he decides to come out. Could be three years from now.

  • So we learn the insider scoop. He was lazy. Thought he was going to be an instant super star and didn't even socialize with his teammates. He won't go far with that attitude in the NFL.

I'm still waiting to see "the one" this college season. Hundley is the UCLA QB.... I haven't seen him yet. So maybe he's the one.

Have seen Boyd twice this year, and was not impressed either time. And I'm very confused by his run stats in a read option offense.

Have seen Bridgewater once.. and was not impressed. Plus he looks too fragile for the NFL.... the dude is a friggin' stick figure.

And I just think Mazel is poison...

Of all I have seen, I like McCarron. He has that game manager look that you want opposite a dominant defense over any swashbuckler. And if AJ was our man then we could do the trade down thing.

  • Very interesting video, Thanks for posting it.

  • You guys will be fine without Richardson. Holmgren is and was past his prime like 7 years ago. The Colts are not a dynamic team even with Luck. They go 9-7 at best this year. But my prediction for the colts is more 7-9.

The biggest reason the Colts were so successful in the 2000's was because of a man named Bill Polian. Who also so happened to be the bills GM when the Bills went to four straight superbowls in the 90's. Jim Irsay and his staff are bumbling bafoons and they go after whatever player is "Extremely Hyped".

The only thing I think holding you guys back at this point in time is having Lambardi in your FO. He hurt the Raiders big time when he was with them. And the fans still hate him for it.

  • Here's Banner's response to Holmgren's reaction.

Joe Banner responds to Mike Holmgren's comments

Former Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren told a radio station he'd have quit if told the team he coached had traded away Trent Richardson. It's only fitting then that current Browns CEO, Joe Banner, offered his rebuttal Friday via radio waves.

"Mike's entitled to his opinion," Banner told ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike", per The Plain Dealer. "He ran the team for three years and was able to do what he believed in. It's our turn trying to do what we think is right. Obviously wouldn't have done this if we agreed with his comments."

During his rant, Holmgren intimated that it was possible first-year coach Rob Chudzinski didn't stand up to Banner and fight to keep his best offensive player. Banner emphasized Friday that the Browns coach very much was part of the "collaborative decision" to make the trade.

"I think the most important thing for me to say is we don't do anything with Chud not right in the middle of every discussion, every evaluation,"' Banner said. "Every single time I got off the phone with (Indianapolis Colts general manager) Ryan Grigson I went down, reported to him where we're at. He's a very strong believer in where we're at and where we're headed and how this is going to help us."

Now that the front office men are done (hopefully) prodding each other, Chudzinski is left to deal with the most difficult repercussion of the trade:

Convince an entire locker room to fight for 14 more games when the bosses upstairs already started working on 2014.

  • The trade will be bad for the Browns. I was listening to NFL radio and basically D'qwell, and Joe Thomas are upset about this trade. THey are both leaders on the team and you know the locker room is a buzz about it. TRich was well liked and players respected him for playing hurt. Another thing is Dmitiri Patterson has been saying he was cut not because of his play but because he was telling Browns players not to trust Banner. That Banner was a snake. What do you think players are thinking of Banner now? If a Free Agent wants to sign with the Browns you don't think they'll talk to players on the team? Or former Players?

Now as far as TRich's play is concerned, its comparable to other rookie rb's who had good careers. You can't judge a player on 18 gms. Especially a rb. Lets look at some numbers of other backs in first 18gms.

    First TRich's numbers

    Last year 267 att 950yrds 3.6ypc 11tds 51 rec 367yrds 1td

    Emmit Smith

    1990Ā® 241att 937yrds 3.9ypc 11td 24rec 228yrds 0tds

    1991 led NFL in rushing

    Rickey WIlliams

    1999Ā® 253att 884yrds 3.5ypc 2tds 28rec 172yrds 0tds

    2000 first 2 games: 44att 134yrds 3.04ypc 0tds

    YPC for a HOF RB his first 3 season 4.1, 3.7, 3.0

    That RB was Marshal Faulk

LaDamian Thomilson averaged less than 4.0 ypc in 5 seasons (no they werent all at the end of his career)

Jerome Bettis avg 3.9ypc for his career in 13 seasons he only went over 4.0ypc 4 times and he's a HOF

    Walter Payton 1975Ā® 196att 679yrds 7tds 33rec 213yrds 0tds

    first game of 1976 25att 70 yrds 2.8ypc

So you can't call Trich a bust. You can't judge him on 18 gms. You fit the system to the players not the other way around. TRich was making 2-3mill a yr so he wasn't hurting the bottom line. As far as not being versatile look at his receptions last year he had 51, look at the other rb's listed he had more receptions than any of them as a rookie except faulk had 52. Thomilson, Emmitt, and Rickey Williams all played under Turner before and Smith, and Williams running styles were similar to Trents. This trade was about Lombardi's and Banners ego. So without knowing how TRich will turn out and the trade causing strife with the players they made this trade. This will come back and bite the Browns.

We have a RB. Dion Lewis will be a true NFL caliber RB next year.....Mark it down. And by "NFL caliber", I don't mean Trent and his 62yds per game.

  • Agree he was not a "bum"... but how some think our win total this season dropped when he was traded mystifies me.
