i'm in my 30's and have been following the browns since the mid 80's.....i never saw this thing, not once. Or if i have I never connected it with the browns in any way. The dog is the only mascot/emblem i've ever know. I was going to the old stadium as a kid in the 80's so I would think at some point I would have come across brownie if it was such a huge part of the team for so long.

I love the Browns and try to support tradition but I gotta say the Brownie is far from the kick ass tough logo I would like to see. I'd like to see a big vicious snarling dog with half of a Steeler hanging from his mouth

Yeah, but ... There has been all kinds of Elf logos on jackets, hats, shirts etc. Since 1999, even if it wasnt around much in the late 80s, early 90's.
Its been my avatar for at a dozen years ... No one has ever said "What's that?"

Most, if not all college and Nfl, mascots are unmanly. However, I am down with the Georgia bulldog, and the horsebacked Fla State Seminole. Tell me it doesn't jack you up when he buries that war spear into the thirty yard line. The USC Trojan is a bad mo too.
I can live with ND fighting Irish's mascot. They should provide him with a flask so he can cheer and get fucked up during the game. Brutus Buckeye, Nebraska's Little Red, The U Duck, and MSU's Spartan are 100% homo. The Colorado Buffalo is bad ass as is the Oklahoma horse and wagon. Them boys turn it loose. Tell me how you couldn't get a hard dick watching that.
The Browns have won two in a row. Why take a chance changing anything about the uni's'? I'd suspect several players wont' even wash their uni's before the Bills game.

Some of the young 'us may think the Elf is Ancient History, but he is part of the history. AND he's not attached to a particular set of players. The Vikings had the "Purple People Eaters" and the Rams the Fearsome Foursome".
The Dawg Pound IMHO only caught on because the Browns were winning at the time.

i think the internet was around back then even if you had to use netscape as a search engine.
any fan of any team would have looked up the history to which you would have undoubtedly seen the 'brownie'.

i just spent about an hour hunting down my pitbull thinking i'd find him splatted all over broadway. we got deer that come down in the wee hours of the morning and i like to get him out before all of the other hustle and bustle comes screaming through (joggers, kids and dumb parents) but he did his biz and like some dogs shoot the grass back at you or jump in the air in triumph for being such a good boy. well while in jumping his choker chain becomes loose and he knows it and runs like a muther fucker after the deer.
finally found him. and believe me, that dawg is in 'his' pound for the rest of the day. he'll be lucky to move an inch without a kick in the jaw. driving around @ 5am half in the bag asking cops have they seen my dog. "nope, but i see you. how much have you had to drink tonite sir?"
meanwhile this mutha fucker is in front of my building on the sidewalk, sees me in the car going "hungry!?! cookies !?! and don't you know who comes runningout to meet me? no, not my dog but brutus and the philly freak. punched them niigels in the face, got my dog and am now in the process of decompressing drinking coffee (1/3) and rum (2/3) and screaming at my fat assed troll of a wife who wouldn't wake up if a bomb dropped outside the bedroom window.

If you have never seen the elf that is associated with the Browns....then I question whether you really have been following them since the 80s as you say. If you haven't come across it then I wonder where your head has been.....and I can think of one answer....having to do with the sun not shining there.
