Week 6 Game Impressions: Lions @ Browns

The Browns Board

  • I am at the point where I would seriously consider brining in Matt Flynn or seeing how much it would cost us to bring in Kirk Cousins. I know we are drafting a QB next no matter who we bring in but it is bad for my health to watch Weeden play. Playing Weeden is tanking the season. I want someone to at least give us a chance to win. I have no faith in Weeden.

And despite some quotes from Browns players, I don't think the team has any faith in weeden. When he is out there, the whole team deflates, and that is seriously bad mojo.

    1. Weeden is the stupidest quarterback in the history of mankind. That play was just unthinkably ridiculous. I would play ANYBODY ahead of him. I'd sign Leinart or Young or Quinn or anybody who feels like playing. Honestly, I'd cut him tonight. He's that bad.

    2. Buster Skrine was the best player in an orange helmet today. No doubt. Pretty sure that's not a good thing. Our pass rush was lame and our quarterback is right there at the very bottom of the league... and that's a formula for suck. You can't compete in this league without a serious quarterback when the rules are so slanted for a good offense to beat a good defense.

    3. The chances of the Browns drafting top 10 and trading higher to get a quarterback just went up to 98.93%.

    4. You lead 17-7 at the half... at home... and lose the second half 24-0? That's a bitch slap. Humiliating. Worse, the Lions just seemed liked they wanted it more. Bush and Stafford had fire. Freckles 2 looked like he was a widdle sweepy. And confused.

Right on brother. Weeden had no fire. He can't be leader. The guys looked dead in the huddle. Not sure what happened to the D today in second half.

Just disappointing all the way around. Weeden is crap. Next man up please!

They were on the field all day. Too tired.

  • I only had audio so I had one question. Weeden obviously sucks, but why did Horton and co do NOTHING to contain Reggie Bush in the second half? Jesus it seemed like every 3rd down it was Reggie with single coverage on a LB which was lost. I get it but that matchup seemed to straight kill the Browns this afternoon.

  • Tebow for $1.50

Tebow would help the running game out! Haha

  • Why did we abandon the fucking run. Seriosly weeden is a joke and we run the fucking ball twice in the second half. Norv and chud better get their shit together also. They have to shoulder some of the responsibility here too. Just like the pick Seriosly 1st and 10 run the god damn ball. Its not like wedidn't have time.

  • Big ups to Buster Skrine again. This kid is playing like a pro bowler right now.

That's the other thing that pisses you off about him. He throws a dumb ass pick in make or break time and he walks over to the sidelines and sips Gatorade... Don't get pissed and smash the Gatorade container, grab a cool cup and take a nice long sip and reflect on your dumbassary. (Although he might just be listening to the breeze blowing through his head)

The more I see of him the more I swear he is DA 2.0

^+1 can we get Thad Lewis back?

As the WKNR guys said on the way home- that folly floater may have lost the locker room. The offense will trot out there like Eyore- woe is us, something bad is going to happen with this guy @ qb.

He just may have lost the huddle completely...But they honestly with good conscience cannot throw the kid back out there...He's fucking toast!!

  • @tour2ma said:

LOL... now THAT is thinking outside the box...

As others have said, yes... it can be put on Wheezy...

Agree.... but I still want to check your math... 🙂

No, you're wrong again. Sure Weeden sucked, but so did our defense in the second half. It's a team game.

Damn... Funny thing is without the breath of fresh air that Hoyer provided for two whole weeks, the above might not be the case.

  • You've been wrong on numerous occasion dick wad.

  • All you guys complaining about the roughing the passer penalty listen up. That gets called 100% of the time you know why? HE LEFT HIS FEET. Roughing the passer isnt just taking to many steps and hitting the qb anymore. He did two things that are considered roughing on the play. The major one is he left his feet, the other one was that he drove him to the ground even though he let go in midair he was driving him towards the ground. If Suh did that to Weeden would have been a flag plus suspension.

yes it would have been a fine and suspension, you know why, because of his previous record of doing just what you described plus stepping on people ripping people's heads off and being the dirtiest player in the game (as voted by all players in the league).

    Meanwhile back at the thread...

Here's a game impression.... the Lions were the better team.

Any number of folk here were touting the Lions as a "bigger test" pre-game... they were... we failed...

The Lions have MUCH better QB, and RB's. Plus their O-line pretty much dominated our d-line in the passing game. Stafford had all day to throw

    i was one of those.

we did great until we turned the page and found out we were fooled by the teacher who had said all week there would be no coaching/QB aptitude test.

    Piss off.

It was an unblocked hit that didn't bring a flag in until Stafford lay on the ground like the bitch he is asking for it. Noticed how be popped right back up after he drew the flag like a damn communist soccer player begging for a card? Rewind that whole game and and watch him bitch about everything. Weeden may be a tool but Stafford is a bitch. After watching him bitch ALL GAME LONG about EVERYTHING, I REALLY hope he doesn't reinjury his shoulder and go on IR for life...

I can't believe a football fan (let alone a detroit fan of anybody) would come into a football forum and try to justify a flag on a nice nfl hit. Lets just turn the league into a 7 on 7 passing league, and they can bring you your midol and tampons to your seat. GTFOH.

    Rule 12, Section 1, Article 13

    UNNECESSARY ACTS AGAINST PASSER

    (2) A rushing defender is prohibited from committing such intimidating and punishing acts as stuffing a passer into the ground or unnecessarily wrestling or driving him down after the passer has thrown the ball, even if the rusher makes his initial contact with the passer within the one-step limitation provided for in (1) above. When tackling a passer who is in a defenseless posture (e.g., during or just after throwing a pass), a defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw him down and land on top of him with all or most of the defenders weight. Instead, the defensive player must strive to wrap up or cradle the passer with the defensive players arms.

It was a clean hit, but an illegal one nonetheless.

That didn't lose us the game. Having an inept QB who only know a quarter of the playbook did.

Thanks for looking that rule up, but were in that hit did you see any of that? I didn't see a German suplex, a Tony Saragoosa belly flop on top of him, a wrap and slam to the ground. The bitch Lion fan is saying he drew the flag cause he "left his feet". Wtf...

The report was Groves was giving the explanation from the ref that he speared Stafford with the crown of his helmet, which didn't happen either.

Either way, it's a bitch call for a league that is getting old with all these rules on how you can make contact in the NFL. May not have lost the game, but it was a hit that wouldn't even have been given a second look afterwards as to "should have been a penalty" and was pretty much a no call hit in an important part of a game.

Cobb gets hit low and hurts his knee in the GB game and now all the talking heads want a rule about tackling low... So where do you want the defense to hit a guy? If it's a QB or WR you better just grab him and hold him until the whistle. Can't hit low, can't hit high, can't form tackle a QB in the pocket on third down in a do or die situation. Bullshit.

Just makes the NFL suck that much more.
