That was just on local news here, on practice squad from Cowboys.

Oh snap. Well I guess we're set then.

Really? And who the hell is he?

Alex Tanney (born November 11, 1987) is an American football quarterback for theCleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He was the starting quarterback for the Monmouth College Fighting Scots. Even though Tanney could be one of the greatest DIII quarterbacks of all-time, he is mainly known for making a montage video showing trick football throws that went viral.[1] On October 29, 2011, in a game against Carroll University, Tanney set the NCAA record for all-time career touchdown passes.

Nothing official from the team as of yet, but he tweeted "A new chapter starts in Cleveland today".

He's 6'4 220.
I hope he starts Sunday.
I'm awesome, and I fuck dolphins. Ghoolie 12/2/2012: I have absolutely no skills, training or pride -
I love it ... the Monmouth Fighting Scots.
Bet he could beat Jacksonville with three days of practice and some notes scribbled on a wrist band.
Alas, we will get Weeden, which means a lot of drinking and prayers.

I want to see him do some tricks on the field. It sure as hell would be more interesting than watching Weeden throw the ball into the dirt 5 yards away at 100 mph. We could be the Harlem Globetrotters of the NFL.

Isn't that what Weeden was famous for? Trick shots where he hit clay pigeons with a football. Do we really need another trick shot artist...or a quarterback?

I thought the same thing but who else is left? You can't deny that the video is impressive. But what other options beside bottom of the barrel washed up old timers or Tebow?
-
Can he put a ball into the hands of a Rb coming out of the backfield..... BW3, like Derek ZooLanderson before him seems not to be able to do that.
-
Fuck it, start him, how bad can he be? Plus, isn't it kind of a right of passage for any QB coming in to Cleveland this season to take Weeden's job?
-
shit!!! Just when I finally formed a bond with Hanie.....

-
I hope he starts. He seems like he could at least beat
Weeden in a game of "pig"... every time.
Just a qb that isn't stupid, and wants to win....
and doesn't think that losing and making turnovers is funny.
Dammit.

Gipper is referencing the the Sports Science episode of Weeden prior to the draft. A lot of people made a lot of buzz about him hitting a clay pidgeon from 10 yards away traveling 45 mph, apparently meaning he has a "super accurate, cannon for an arm".
I think Weeden thinks he has to hit his receivers like he hit those clay pidgeons. Nothing less than 100 mph from 10 yards away will suffice.

We need a backup/soon to be starter for the rest of 2013 & why not try this kid? With all his college stats, only 30 career picks, extremely accurate (albeit D3 school). As opposed to 3TD, 10 picks Haney, Sure worth a look see & would surely draw at least SOME Fan interest.

"For the preseason, Tanney completed 40-of-73 passes for 423 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions"
Well. Meh.
