  • Alex Tanney will put on a nice sideline show giving fans something to watch.

  • My new favorite player. LOL - Watch the magic happen folks, watch the magic. Let the comeback commence!

  • Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, CEO Joe Banner and GM Mike Lombardi picked up new receivers personally.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns brain trust was seen this evening at Liberty Ford . The trio was looking at some Ford pick up trucks and proceeded to buy a 1996 blue Ford ranger. Once the title was sign over Jimmy Haslam could be heard saying "Yee Haw this der receiver can scoot".

The trio was not done the three of them piled into the newly bought truck and headed toward Home Depot. They picked up 2 brand new 55 gallon gray rubber garbage cans. Lombardi sticking his head into one the the garbage cams could be heard saying "boy once the ball get in their its not coming out".

The evening was not over for these three as they had one more stop to make. The final stop was Sherwin-Williams Paints where they pick out orange, brown and white paint. Once at the checkout Joe Banner said they had spent to much money and decided not to purchase the white paint. Banner could be heard saying "I think we can go without the white".

With the addition of new quarterback Alex Tanney and three new receiver that Tanney is familiar with its beginning to look like he will get some playing time this Sunday against the Jaguars.

  • Interesting. And odd. So many veterans out there and some interesting practice squad guys. Never would've guessed we'd go with this kid in a million years.

It's kind of the Lombardi M.O.....bring in a young guy who has some talent and give it a look. Maybe you hit on a winner. The older players are pretty well established in what they can do. Now the kid gets 5 games this season and heads in to next season.

Who knows, maybe he is another Kurt Warner who goes from filling grocery bags while waiting for anotther chance to one of the top QB's in the league.

I don't mind long shots at the bottom of the roster and am impressed with the way the team has treated the bottom of the roster. We've made a lot of moves with those last 10 players....and I like it. Do it enough and you are going to pluck a gem every now and then.

We may have plucked one in Rainey, but the coaching staff didn't give it enough of a chance to shine.

Not blaming them, just pointing out the reality.

I doubt Rainey is a real talent. TB has seen success from multiple backs this year.

It makes me really wonder if Muscle Hamster is as good as he seems, or if it's the system.

He may have sucked for us too.

  • really? this kid could be something? Is he going to start or is the Weeden horror show taking the field.

spot on. Weeden sucks and everyone knows it. At this point i'd rather watch the trickshot qb throw it off the field goal post. give anyone a chance over weeden. i just can't watch anymore Weeden.

  • if the kid starts I am watching the game.

  • Pretty impressive but it's a lot of rainbows and some luck. Not sure if full this was posted yet. Best comment: if we could just replace our receivers with garbage cans we would be unbeatable!

  • Does anyone think this kid could have "it"?

I mean, watching plays you could see where the QB, whether Campbell or Weeden, would not step up or to the side to extend the play.

Maybe Tanney knows what to do with the ball..

His father was a coach, he's been in the spread offense since his sophomore year in high school, he has a loose arm with great mid range accuracy and had a 5-1 TD/INT ratio in college. Played at a smaller school and had great production all 4 years as a starter.

I can see the appeal. At the very least, he's careful with the football. That's all we need.

Runs a 4.96, however. And I thought Weeden was slow...

I have a few friends that went to Monmouth and they always raved about him. I'm not sure about how strong his arm is, but he is easily more accurate than Weeden. Out of all the free agent and practice squad players, he is the best choice IMO.

I'm not sure about the 4.96 40 time. He could be faster than that but then again I beat him in the mile in middle school track 😆. He ran the mile and two mile in high school and placed at state in each event. But he was never really a sprinter..

I thought the same thing but who else is left? You can't deny that the video is impressive. But what other options beside bottom of the barrel washed up old timers or Tebow?

of course anyone can deny that video is impressive. I'm ONLY impressed if it's verified that was done with next no mulligans. And even then....why should I give a fuck? Seriously why should I give two flying fucks that this dude can do things with a football that will never translate onto an actual football game on Sunday? He was on the cowboys practice squad...know why? Cause he doesn't yet get the NFL game. He can throw a football with his dick I don't care...if he can't shift the coverage to pick up a blitzing Will or Sam, or he just can't seem to see those safeties creeping up underneath his routes....than I really really really don't give a fuck if he can bullseye my spread cheeks at 80 yds right dead square in my hole.

No one cares whether you give one, two or 37 flying fucks. He's an emergency QB signing, not the future of the franchise. Christ.

Exactly...if this kid really had anything,He'd be a starter someplace already...can the kid expand and get better?...sure...Anything is possible and Hoyer looks like the closest example for that. Time of course,Will tell....

IIRC, this is the same kid we had a big fuss over a year or so ago. I was of the mind- with a little help from CGI, damn near anything is (apparently) possible. Though those with movie making skills insisted those tricks were legit, and not doctored up. I have to wonder though. Our old pal Bernie Kosar was noted for his deep ball accuracy- and the big name (we're talking Bern, Kelly, and Marino) NFL qbs used to have a cookout, with a little friendly competition tossing the rock through a tire 30 yards away. Even they couldn't go 10 for 10, so this kid can hit a goalpost 50 yards away, (way harder) and go 5 for five landing the ball in garbage cans at a mighty respectable distance? How many tries did it take?

I have to ^ Gip. Weeden could bust clay pigeons with no one in his face, his accuracy sort of went to hell in a live game when you only have about a second (or less) to line up your pass. Hey kid, in the NFL, your have 5 garbage cans moving in different directions, and 11 other guys who want to take your head off- just ask Jason Campbell for a few pointers on that one. Cowboys didn't have him on the active roster they were so impressed with his trick pass skills- take it FWIW. 🙂

Well, with Weeden standing back there like a sitting duck taking forever to get rid of the ball, we just might see Browns qb #21 in action.

  • Maybe he can do a trick shot of hitting Weeden in the head while Weeden is hitting clay pigeons.

  • Video isn't that great. Cool to see the throws on the cross bar and two uprights as they never cut away, all the other shots had cut aways... which means they stood around all day until he hit the shot...

You'd think a starting college QB would be out pulling trim instead of standing around in a gym with a bunch of dudes and a GoPro.... but what do I know..

Lombardi probably had this video saved to his desktop...

Still rather see him than some washout though. Good Luck kid, shouldn't be to hard to beat out Brandy.

Hoorta, i can't tell from your post.... Either you want him to play or you don't. Which is it? i want him to play.

  • check out this vid. The kid has the arm if he has the brains he could be pretty good.

  • As long as he can do it with 500lbs of pass rush in his face, we're golden.
