I'd Hire Lovie Smith
-
While I'm surprised that Chud was fired, it's done and we have to move on. I for one am tired of the first time coaches in Cleveland. The hot coordinator of the week, the next greatest college coach ever.......No thanks. I want a proven, well respected guy, and to me, that's Lovie Smith.
He was wrongly fired last year and has been out of football for a year, and I'm betting he has a serious chip on his shoulder and wants to come back with a vengeance.

Sure why not? We have an active payroll for ex coaches going but Mangini just dropped off it as this would have been the 5th year of his deal. So there's a slot open for a nice salary for an ex coach. Might as well get our affirmative action in order and get a black man on that list to go with Shurm and Chud.

I want a coach with a dominant personality that has passion and exudes machismo.
A guy that will mold the team in their image, someone that isn't afraid to go off script and give an answer that isn't cookie cutter and "nfl pc".

I'm sure there's been a call made to Gruden. The only reason why I wouldn't hire Gruden is that there's only been 2 coaches in NFL history who have won a title with two different teams. The deck is stacked against him. But Lovie Smith isn't a bad choice. I'm sure he has something to prove.

During Smith's tenure in Chicago he never fielded an Offense that ranked higher than 23.

He also only had one season worse than 7-9. In the past decade, the Browns only have one season equal or better than 7-9. He's as safe a bet as any I think.

I'm worried that Gruden has been away far too long. He seems fat and happy to be on TV. Lovie has only been away one year, which should be just long enough to recharge his batteries and come out swinging. Lovie has done it in the NFL, and consistently. His teams were always well prepared, competitive and he won far more than he lost...........When was the last time Cleveland could say that?

like lovie smith. no problem here.
i say rehire mangini and rob ryan.

Can't argue with that, I just don't think it's likely to happen, To me Smith is an 80-2010 era Coach and the game has headed in a different direction.
That old school coach did pretty well last year at 10-6.
