I think Pluto is a little high on the return value...but I do think a 2nd and a 3rd is possible.

I see the Browns keeping both Anderson and Quinn for this season, and drafting a QB in the mid rounds to groom (or, since we don't have a lot of picks, scouring the available young guys bouncing around that they might like.) they'll see who emerges, and next year Quinn or Anderson is gone and the #3 becomes #2. I'm sure a veteran journeyman will be brought into camp too.

--I don't think Mangini is ready to hand anybody anything.

The problem with keeping DA for another year is his contract.

If he DOESN'T win the starter role...he will be a backup with a $7.45M contract in 2010...AND a $2M signing bonus. In other words...he would be a guy who has sat on the bench for 2 years and being paid starter money...and nobody is going to give more than a 4th for that.

He lost significant value by hanging on to him last year...and unless the Browns are just kidding about going to a WCO type offense....he is just going to lose value again this coming year.

We haven't heard any of this WCO bullshit out of Berea. Somehow this BQ-Nation-style rumor seems to be related to how Mangini once worked with Chuck Weis 6 years ago under a different head coach. Yeah quite a correlation there.

Really it is just your fantasy explanation for BQ to get the nod despite his noodle arm, nothing more.

Do you find yourself constantly striving to get the perfect time and temperature to cook your instant noodles? I mean, sure, sometimes you forget that your noodles are done and wind up eating a cold and nasty dinner of instant noodles, and they taste like shit reheated. The Instant Noodle Perfection Timer reminds you of when your noodles are done.

A LED screen and a vocal countdown is used to keep you from having a sodium-filled hot dinner, rather than a sodium-filled cold dinner. What have you got to lose other than your pride? Available for $25. — Andrew Dobrow

Just a little clarification for you...

Hey, Tony: Given the facts the Jets run the same vertical offense as the Browns and both the Jets and Ravens passed on Brady Quinn in the draft, why is it assumed Brady is the starter and not D.A.? -- Mike Gedeon, Hudson

Hey, Mike: A couple of clarifications: 1. The Jets ran the same vertical offense as the Browns under coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. He stayed in New York and Eric Mangini appointed Brian Daboll as Browns offensive coordinator. Daboll intends to run the New England offense, which Quinn was schooled under by Charlie Weis at Notre Dame. 2. The Ravens tried to trade up in the 2007 draft to select Quinn but the Browns beat them to the punch. I can turn around your logic and point out that the Ravens elected to release Derek Anderson while George Kokinis was their pro personnel director. Kokinis is now Browns GM.

    and here:

It has been presumed that Quinn will be the Browns' starter in '09, especially since new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is expected to run the same New England Patriots-style attack that Quinn flourished in under Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis. That would leave Anderson, a 2007 Pro Bowl player, as trade bait, perhaps to acquire more draft picks. The Browns hold only four selections in the April 25-26 NFL Draft

    or this:

Quinn claims to have built a great rapport with Daboll, and says the new coordinator intends to incorporate aspects of the Browns' offense with those of his former system in New England. This isn't too bad to hear either, seeing as the Patriots could have a leper as starting quarterback and still post a winning record (granted the levels of talent on both teams are on slightly different wavelengths).

so much for us making this stuff up

So, the respected sportswriter Terry Pluto has come out and stated what many of us have stated on these boards huh?

I'm telllin' ya. All the discriminating Browns fan needs is to set up an account on Stan's board here. No other news source is needed.

Plus! We have the added dimension of entertainment here (Lum and Sev)!

Yep, we all know how horrible those weak armed Qb's are in the NFL. Especially that noodle armed Montana guy!

Lum, I'm not sure if you are really this stupid or you just try to get a rise out of people. I really hope it's the latter.

If it's the former then I pray you haven't procreated.

You guys are really a bunch of idiots. This was a thread about the Browns possibly keeping Anderson. Lum comes in, makes a comment, and all you xxxxing morons can do is turn this into a thread about Lum.

Browns fans have grown into nothing more then a bunch of bitch ass pussies. It amazes you guys are so insecure about the Brady Boy that you can let Lum dictate every thread on this forum. I feel sorry for you Stan, your average user can't get his head out of Lums ass far enough to contribute anything to the Browns forum.

Oh I am a Browns fan, why would I not comment? I just refuse to turn every thread into one about Lumberg. You are guilty of this. This is the first, and last, thread I've ever used Lumberg as fuel. If you can't let 1 poster make a comment, without swirling up a PMS storm, then you are nothing but a vagina. Plain and simple.

Lets cry.. go ahead. Just like the stereotypical Browns fan. Does nothing but cry. Wait wait, lets get more stereotypical.. how about "next year"?

We can't beat the steelers, so you guys cry about how they cheat to win a handful of superbowls to our 0.

They have nobody on their OLine, yet we broke the bank on Eric and Thomas, yet we still suck. So you cry about.

Brady Quinn plays a few games, and the only good one is his dink and dunk game, so you cry about it.

DA sets the benchmark in recent Browns history on our best season, so you cry about that.

Braylon Edwards had the best season of any browns reciever ever in 2007, so you cry about that.

Hey Browns fans... why don't you quit crying, and start 2 man up. You guys sound like our team. A bunch of underachieving cry babies, I wonder if our fans spread this to our team.

I guess I'll just let this thread go. I suppose I'm the only Browns fan on this site with a set of nuts, who refuses to cry everytime Lumberg comments on a thread, and turn it into a Anti DA anti Lumberg topic.

I'll just sit back and watch the threads, and see you cry baby Vaginas let Lumberg dominate this forum.

    Good day, Vaginas

I really don't understand the hate that this guy gets. Quinn did NOT play any better than he did this year. And the only long ball I saw Quinn toss all year was a lame duck during the Denver? game. The only thing that Quinn did this year that DA couldn't do was run a bootleg. And seeing as you can only run that 2 or 3 times a game. I don't see why we shouldn't keep both, cuz it looks like we're not going to get a damn thing for DA.

Quinn doesn't have the arm that DA does but there are two things Quinn can do that DA cannot. Run (Which you mentioned) and throw a short pass. DA's inabilty to throw a soft, short pass made me want to pull my hair out.

Big arms are so overrated. Too many of the greatest Qb's had weaker arms.

and i bet Sipe could take us to the super bowl....

sorry guys but memories of yester-year don't translate to today's NFL.

    weak arms are obsolete.

i didn't say Quinn has a weak arm for the record.

also for the record DA's short pass improved significantly from '07 to '08.
