  • Yeah GB isn't letting any of Rodgers weapons hit the market. But if Manning is gone from Denver than I can see us pulling Thomas.

  • What I would do is skip Suh and go after Fairley, throw an offer at Houston but likely that isn't gonna work so try to get Orakpo, Hardy or Hughes if Sheard leaves. At WR you can forget about Bryant but now that Denver is being upended...we could possibly pull Thomas but he's gonna want to know who our starting QB is gonna be. Speaking of.....Sanchez or Locker?

Sanchez is not better than Hoyer. Locker is an amazing runner but not a great pocket QB, plus he can't stop getting hurt. You know who is better than Hoyer on that list?......Matt Moore.

    Randall Cobb.

Whoever else, Pettine, Farmer, and co will know who to get.

Right now, I think Johnny Broadway Flop needs counseling and rehab and maturity.

And he's too busy being a party animal to do any of the three.

Send him to whatever team is willing to wait a few years.

What makes you think Green Bay is going to let Randall Cobb hit the market? There are players that aren't just after the MOST money offered. He's their 1a or 1b to Jordy Nelson with Davante Adams in the slot. I sincerely doubt he's anywhere BUT with the Packers next season and the same goes for D. Thomas in Denver. If anything a team may be able to pry Julius Thomas BUT with Manning's future in the balance (His own decision) there will probably be money to sign both in Denver anyway.

EDIT: And Fairley likely isn't going anywhere either.

Yes, I am sure there are many players that are going to re-up with their current teams. The Browns have a few themselves that they should resign. But that doesn't mean we should not discuss the possibility of signing up some of these FAs. After all, the are "Free" Agents....meaning they can sign anywhere....even if they are inclined to go back.

  • I say steal Torry Smith away from the Ravens. God knows the Browns need a kick/punt return guy and another decent WR. In the process of strengthening yourself, weaken your opponent.

I'd be on board with this idea.

  • What is your collective opinions on the Browns players on this list. Should they stay or should they go?:

    Unrestricted:

    Hoyer

    Cameron

    Rubin

    Skrine

    Restricted:

    Gipson

    Kitchen

I hate having to acquire FAs just to replace the guys we lost....unless it is an upgrade (see Dansby vs. DQwell).

Hoyer - tricky, but there aren't better alternative veterans out there. if he'll take a performance based deal then do it

Cameron - I'd let him go

    Rubin - gone

    Skrine - keep

    Restricted:

    Gipson - no brainer

Kitchen - keep, if Rubin's gone

  • We should not draft WR in the first

Patterson for the Vikings was a first-rounder.. and is a complete bust. The reason you draft OL/DL and buy WR is that the WR are proven.

Hoyer......Go. ...Dont think he's the one to take us to the promised land. So, lets keep searching....

Cameron...Go....Injury prone and likely too expensive. If the price is right, then fine.....but ....

    Rubin ......Go.....too expensive again......

Skrine.....Go....hate to say it.....he clearly doesnt want to be a nickle back and thats what the Browns want him to be....he'll pull too much money to be kept as a reserve and the Browns are deep at CB...so I expect little effort to sign him...

    Restricted:

Gipson..Stay.....the only one in this group that I think we'll keep/////

Kitchen...Go.....the D line was terrible and needs an upgrade....and Kitchen is at the bottom of the list, so it seems logical that he'd go...no?

  • I'd like Hoyer (depending on $, if not, Locker or trade for Foles)

    Kuhn

Cameron (depending on $, plus drafting a better "blocking" TE and moving Cameron to more of a WR)

Backup C (draft RT in round 1 or 2)

    Houston (not depending on $)

    Kitchen

    Robertson

    Gipson

    Skrine

    Any kicker

  • Fairly already has a rep for not playing hard. Could be the next Haynesworth. I pass. And I still cannot bring myself to pay as much for a D-lineman as Suh will cost.

    Names I like:

O: Helu (RB); Austin (WR); Daniels (TE); Bulaga (OT); Iupati/ Colon (OG)

    😧 Foote (ILB)

One other D-line I find intriguing is Umenyiora. Big fall off in 2014 but not sure how much was the mess that was ATL.

what position did you have in mind for him on our 3-4? Maybe in his prime he could have played the 5 tech but otherwise he seems to be a 1 dimensional pass rusher which on a 4-3 is acceptable....but if you all think our D line is responsible for poor run defense, staff it with guys like Umen and see what happens.

    Situational pass rusher...

if we went to a 4-3, which is what I hope we do, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Thing is both Hardy and Orakpo are more versatile, could play in either scheme...and they will be available.

Do you have a link on Skrine not wanting to be the nickel or dime back? I have never heard a peep good or bad from Skrine. His progression from year to year is amazing. If he was 3 inches taller he'd be one of the elites IMO. The browns cant get hime to the nickel position cause they never have that other corner.

  • I cant find the exact quote, but here is a video of him and if you listen closely you can pick up...

#1) that he's not so sure he'll be back. He says things like "I'd like to come back, but....."

#2) then he says the CB and nickle are 2 totally different positions, with different skills....

#3) then he says that where ever he goes, he plans to start at CB.....(which tells me he doesn't want to play nickle)

And that last line(#3) is the telling one....because I think, just like Hoyer felt the Browns wanted Manziel at #1, Skrine feels like they want Gilbert at #1.....so, does he sign here where the coaches are pushing for their type of guys(Gilbert & Desir) to succeed or does he go to a team where he will be coveted as a starter and not just be holding the position till the rooks get better?

Here's the link to his interview.....whats your take?

Skrine is good enough to be a starting CB and will get offered money I believe at the #2 CB level. It's a matter then of deciding if it's worth it to pay him or if they think Williams/Gilbert/Desir are strong enough to fill that role.

exactly....and thats where I think the Browns will have issues...do they pay that money to him while they are paying #1 money to Gilbert?...and do they project him to play ahead of Gilbert & Desir???(which is a big one)....cause if they think Desir and/or Gilbert are starter types, I dont see them paying Skrine....

I do know Pettine likes him and highly values DB's.....it's just a matter of how much Farmer likes him and is will pay him to possibly be a backup or nickle....

  • I would hate to lose Skrine, but Gipson is the priority man in the secondary

Yep...but I cant see a scenario where we dont sign Gipson....he's restricted, so we get matching rights for any offers he gets(like Mack)....

Honestly, I expect the Browns to make him a priority and at least try to sign him right away....preventing him from even seeking other offers....

It appears he wants to stay and isn't all about the money.....so maybe a fair - solid offer gets him early in the process.....
