  • Re: The Marcus Golden pick.

If the Browns didn't have so many needs, I'd take him that high. More specifically needs that could be filled in that round by a player able to step up and provide immediate quality depth,

such as along the Oline. Marcus has the potential, but for this team and this defense, he would be a several year project.

His first step is slightly about average, he has decent hand use and fights through contact when attacking the inside. He doesn't have that elite burst, appears limited in space and as far as I can tell, as never been asked to play from a 2 point stance. His secondary pass rush move is non existent and he would most likely not provide any contribution his first year. Even then, there are players with a better athletic makeup and a higher ceiling that can be had later in the draft whom would pay off just as much if not more with the same patience. I..e Max Valles

We seem to be developing a fair amount of group think this year. It's both new and kinda scary.

    Re: The Marcus Golden pick.

At the start of the sim it offered Golden as a DE, then a DE/ OLB (I like added the multiple positions wrinkle) and now the choices are OLB/ ILB. Have to say I did not see him as an ILB and the once or twice I've picked him to play ILB the grade has not been kind despite the position still being one of need.

Speaking of ILBs... the late round prospect I've really warmed to is KU's Ben Heeney.

He's a compliment to an elite pass rusher on the other side. He doesn't have the ability that Shane Rey does, nor the athletic fluid movement in space.

I see Golden the same way I viewed Sheard when we took him. A slightly above average LDE that will hold the point against the run and net you half dozen sacks a year or so.

Benn Heeney? I've seen the named tossed around, can't say I've watched him. I got to see a glimpse of Perrimen when Mizzou played UCF. I was planning on watching more of him today.

  • OK-I quit till April after this one. Only need I could not fill well was ILB, but with Dupree and Brown up front life for that position just got much easier.

Your score is: 6876 (GRADE: A+)

  • How is it some of you get grades with your draft? I have done it a couple of times but never got a grade.

This would be a beast of a draft.....

  • I could have taken Winston with my first pick, but I passed on him. Would you guys have taken him

  • Yes...

Every time Jameis or Marcus has fallen to 12 I've taken them.

I was thinking though.... Everyone else is passing on him, so what makes him good for us and bad for them?

In this hypothetical situation, many things could be a factor.

  • First Free Agency:
    CUT

Travis Benjamin WR Rodney Smith WR Jim Dray TE Paul McQuistan T Phil Bates WR Vinston Painter T

Benjamin is just not the same and likely wont be. There have to be better options. I would also cut Barnridge TE based on my draft

    SIGNED PLAYERS

Name / Position / Cap Hit - Brian Hoyer QB 3,750,000 Jeremy Maclin WR 7,350,000 Miles Austin WR 1,000,000 Jermaine Gresham TE 4,500,000 Ndamukong Suh DT 8,800,000 David Harris ILB 4,900,000 Buster Skrine CB 1,800,000

Yep paid a shitload for Suh and Harris, probably overpaid for Maclin but they are top notch adds, Tashaun was not listed but I would tag him. I also believe Gresham is an upgrade over Cameron. Would have signed Julius Thomas if available.

Cap Space Remaining: 51,744,743 - Franchise tag cap hit of Tashaun Gibson, still a pretty hefty stash of cash

My 2015 Draft - note that if trades had been allowed I would have taken a 3 for Manziel , I will also add that if that was the case I may have taken OT in the 3rd as I really debated on Collins at 19.

    12: R1P12

    OT LA'EL COLLINS LSU

43: R2P11 QB BRETT HUNDLEY UCLA

I must be confused, the Browns have 50 million cap now, and you sign all those guys, but still have 51 million left? It looks like you maybe spent 30 million of that cap, so wouldn't you only have 20 million left to sign rookies and extend contracts with? I don't disagree with the signings, but i think on suh, and maclin they are actually undervalued. I hope they don't spend that much personally though, we need cap to extend other players coming off in a year or two.

Mostly, at the heart of the sim, a random number generator.

  • The "first-pick" simulator almost always sends Shelton to Oakland at #4 and if gets past them he rarely gets past Chicago at #7. I think the real draft will play out in a similar manner.

  • I play as the other teams (to get my "God Score"... feeds my complex) and check what the sim chose for us.

9 times out of 10 it's Kevin White at 12 and Malcom Brown at 19. I could live with that.

Eric Kendricks shows up a lot as our new ILB as does Bryce Petty as our project QB.

nice draft right there but i'd add another DL just for depth's sake, but overall i'd walk away a happy camper.
