Jonathan Paul Manziel

Hypothetical trade just offered to me by friend and Jets writer - Browns trade #12, 3rd round pick and Manziel to New York in exchange for #5 and Geno Smith.
I said yes. In a heartbeat. I don't think there's a person alive who wouldn't say yes to that.

No way the Jets go for that.

Absolutely not. That's why its in this thread and not "Should we offer this".
The point in posting it is that there may be more interest in Manziel to outsiders than we give credit. The person that offered this hypothetical is knowledgeable, moreso than me, and he's been involved with the NFL for a while.
While it's likely nothing to this extent, I think there's a (likely large) faction that attribute Manziel's failures to mismanagement on our end.

Everyone hates Johnny. At least Mallett can see over the O-Line and throw passes sober.

Bill already passed on him once (I know you aren't serious).

The hardest part of JFF's rehab will be after he is out of the controlled environment and let loose. Driving past bars, and ice cold beer signs and saying 'no'.

Driving past bars, and ice cold beer signs and saying 'no'.
what a nightmare that would be!

Pfft... easy. Don't let him drive.

The Brown's front office pulled off a coup of major proportions when the traded Trent Richardson for a first round pick. Then they reverted back to the old Browns and drafted Manziel. They must get sick watching Khalil Mack, Odell Beckham, Mike Evans, Teddy Twatwater and the rest of the young talent they passed on. So I have a feeling Chip Kelly is going to try and get Manziel for his uptempo offense if no one is willing to trade with him on draft day.

Interesting concept. Can't get one Heisman winner (Mariota), go for another one. Manziel.

casserly has us tradin both first rounders to move up and get mariota.
i know he's half senile but that might be THE move. saw his pro-day and the kid is exactly who i'd want as the browns franchise QB.

Depends how far Mariota falls. If it's to #6, LOL, both firsts and Manziel might get it done.

My boss, an Aggie grad and die hard fan, showed me current tweets from JFF's girlfriend out partying, getting wasted in College Station, Austin and Houston. I've been clean and sober for 21 years - He will have to dump her or it will never take.
In fact he has to do what Tyrann Mathieu did - dump all his old friends from N.O. and Baton Rouge, re-dye his hair, shed the Honey Badger mantra and concentrate on FOOTBALL. Mathieu was on track to join his daddy in Angola prison. I am sure glad he changed.

Casserly can be a classic moron at times. Tony Boselli in the expansion draft in Houston. Offensive tackle that had a shoulder made out of glass. He knew that and still drafted the guy.
I don't see it but it would be nice. I've seen the guy play a number of times and he is good. I just wonder how good he is with a mediocre front line because that's what we would have to give up to get him.
