  • No, sorry, I just meant that the rock star or movie star would think

it was a joke, and never took it seriously.

Not talking about a legit relapse.

If you think rehab is a joke, you usually wind up DEAD.

  • I agree Hoorta.

I wonder how much of Manziels problem is a drinking problem and how much is simply a narcissistic trait in Johnny? My hope is the drinking is less of a problem. Lot's of people drink to excess but don't have the desire to be the center of attention. Possibly part of his being sequestered is to stay out of the medias sight?

The kid has had a high degree of fame at a very young age. That can go to a persons head pretty quickly. Especially when you add in large amounts of money. You see this with a lot of young entertainers. Maybe part of this is to help Johnny understand that he doesn't always have to be the life of the party.

I've known people who went through ARC in the Navy and it was no joke. The therapy is intense and a one year aftercare mandatory along with logged AA meetings. In those days supervised taking of daily antabuse was also required. If you relapse say goodbye to your career.

He's an ass. Kinda pitiful to even post it on the board.

Most dont get paid....B/R just publishes articles submitted to them......Ive heard they have about 10, 000 writers....

and they recruit writers all the time(many of them are college journalism students.....and we know college kids know EVERYTHING!

  • I'm not sure about everyone else but I'm tired of hearing the brown's beat writers bashing on everyone for not signing every washed up veteran they could find. If you asked Tom Brady what do you want a offensive line and running backs who can flat out pound the rock? Or some washed up receivers? He would pick the line everytime..... I'm sick of hearing everyone cry.

When you read it again Tour he sounds like he actually DID jump up on a chair. Or he is senile and forgot whatever it was he did. LOL! We need a chair jumping icon though cliff jumping would more likely win out here. 😁 😄

You Are correct...I DID jump up on a chair!!! You'll find few with my energy at my age, but NO cliff jumping!

I thought Tour was referring to my not buying a jersey.

we all remember mike H and his attempts at the b/r journalism thang.

    what a joke.

  • A first round draft pick, with the potential (according to Browns evaluators) of becoming the face of the Browns in the near future ends up in rehab after the end of his first season. The transition from college to pro was not

going well with veterans questioning his work ethic and doubting his leadership potential as he struggled learning and executing plays from a watered down offensive scheme solely catered to his so-called strengths. It's

documented his inclination to keep long hours on the party circuit. Looking back there were obvious red flags indicating JM needed guidance and quickly yet Browns head of player security, Lewis Merlitti, kept his head buried

in the sand along with the other staff members whose primary task is to develop players who can help the Browns win on Sunday. Hindsight is of course 20 -20 but I feel there should have been an intervention far sooner

than seasons end. There was a breakdown somewhere in the system and Haslam should be asking himself if he has the right components in place for a young player to develop

Couple of things- forced interventions rarely turn out well. Possibly Manziel saw what happened to Gordon, saw himself going down the same career ending track, and decided to do something about it.

He had to want it. As Abraham Lincoln once said- "think for a moment how hard it is to change yourself, and you will realize what little hope you have of changing others."

If you want a failure- it was the failure of Farmer and Pettine to not dig deep enough into Manziel's psyche before they drafted him. Thought they could "manage" him. Wrong. But my 20\20 hindsight says Manziel would have wound up in the same place (rehab) regardless of which team eventually drafted him.

  • Roger on the forced intervention but my angle is why they gave him the long leash coming in with a recent history of abuse. as mik keeps harping, the control over the prized qb investment was sorely lacking, all things considered.

time for some green beer......Happy Saint Patricks day flamers

  • These ass-wipes keep talking about our receivers like Gordon was here all of last year and amassed 1500 yards.

Our guys did pretty well IMO.

Do you ever feel like just slapping somebody?

    yessir.

i'm just wondering now how this will affect the browns approach to the upcoming draft. do they make decisions based upon what they think manziel might and might not be able to do or just disregard him all together and go about it as though mccown will be the starter (as a lot of us have thought since the signing) and manziel won't be there?
