can someone find me a book detailing how negative reinforcement really helps in management situations? There must be tons.

Sure... pick up a B.F. Skinner book...

The removal of an unpleasant reinforcer can also strengthen behavior. This is known as negative reinforcement because it is the removal of an adverse stimulus which is ‘rewarding’ to the animal or person. Negative reinforcement strengthens behavior because it stops or removes an unpleasant experience.

lol... sadly I am sure that people are walking around wearing those rings...

Ah....reminds me of Dr. Popplestone. Psychology professor at Akron U.

There also must be a ton of examples of guys that were totally dumped on by their own fanbase but managed to pull through and become a star. I mean, there has to be, since that's what we're apparently expecting Justin to do.

Philly fans booed the hell out of McNabb when he was drafted. Want to know how he won them over? By playing well. That is all Gilbert has to do.

So in the social media era there's no one. Thanks.

I'm probably reading this wrong but it seems to me that it makes my point.

I am sure McNabb's Friendster had lots of disparaging comments on it. Good thing he rose above it.

Negative reinforcement means that you are motivated to do whatever it is that will make the unpleasant situation stop. I.E. play better and people will stop bagging on how much you suck.

  • 1st round 2014 is a wash. Deep breathe and jusy move along. Get past that, and we have a pretty great secondary. As for Jonathan Paul Manziel, who damn knows.. the guy could be the next Brees or the next Leaf. We wont know for a little while. Let the dude develope and go from there.

Right. And that doesn't work in a situation like this.

So still no examples. I rest my case.

  • Easy to do when you dismiss the argument made out of hand...

Why doesn't it work in a situation like this?

Your case is that Justin Gilbert is a pussy.

    All of us agree.

  • man i hope this kid turns it around just to see the shit some of you will say when he does, and the bullshit excuses you'll give.

  • He was chosen as a number one selection in the Browns draft. Given the opportunity to start. Signed a nice contract. I don't know what else he wants? A cookie, and a glass of milk. Maybe a hug?

  • It's fun to see Gilbert exhibiting the same joyous lack of self-awareness ["I'm Awesome! Always!"] as RG3.

  • man i hope this kid turns it around just to see the shit some of you will say when he does, and the bullshit excuses you'll give.

He will have Twitter praise to thank for his turnaround.

  • Defensive Back takes 5 years to learn or at least that's the company line in here.

As it stands the 2014 1st round for the Browns was another bust but no one will admit it until it's in the past.

Farmer talks a very good game but I am less than impressed.

  • The upside is, the entire 2015 draft was freaking brilliant.

So far, so good. If Desir becomes a pro-bowl caliber player and Gilbert never does, then that will be a wash and help 2014 not look so putrid. Only time will reveal the answer.

My case is that the criticism of him only makes the situation worse, which hurts the Browns.

Well Mud actually posted the numbers on that. For your side of the debate I see, well, nothing.

Talking about McNabb's Friendster that did not exist or at a minimum wasn't relevant? You're smart enough to figure that out.
