  • Just listened to Pett's presser.

    A. He's dumb for letting the questions drag on so long. Make a statement. Answer a couple questions. Then say "that's all I have to say on that." Repeat answer every time a Johnny question is asked. Walk out of the presser of the reporters don't move on. It's pretty simple.

    B. Given A, it's pretty easy to see why Pettine was so annoyed (and he really wasn't THAT annoyed). It looked to me like he was more annoyed by the fact that the media wouldn't shut up than him being annoyed that we're talking about Johnny again.

Yes, Pettine did say "if any other guy had done this, would we be talking about this the entire time?" (Paraphrase). That could either mean he thinks it's no big deal and is being blown out of proportion. Or that could mean that Pettine is annoyed that Johnny's "johnnyness," if you will, just ruined his press conference. You could sell me either way.

Personally, when people asked why Johnny didn't get the treatment that our OL coach received given that there were allegations Johnny hit her, it really felt to me like Pettine wanted to be like "look everyone, Colleen is a dumb idiot. The only marks she had were from Johnny trying to keep her in the car. The cops let Johnny walk. There was no issue. The girl is BSC. Stop wasting my time with the comparison." But that's just my read.

    C. Pettine was completely and unequivocally complimentary of Johnny's work in the locker room and on the field this year. Said he has been an "A+ in the building." I really don't think he goes out of the way to take up for the kid in that manner if they're planning on, or even thinking about, cutting him.

    A. That's not Pet. Some of the questions were from different angles and deserved an answer, even if it ended up in part being "not going to get into that."

    B. Agree... not all that annoyed... at least not for the first 10 minutes or so. But the question about the locker room not being held accountable clearly stunned and hurt him. He fought to believe it was not true, and it likely is not true, but it hurt. After this and by the end of the JM segment, however, he was annoyed. His sarcasm in reaction to finally being asked a game question showed it. From there it quickly faded.

There's a "final straw" out there somewhere. Hard for me to see this as being it.

I don't think we'd have to try that hard to trade him.....but what we'd get in return is questionable.

We'd have to try hard to get any value....thats for sure.....but Im sure plenty of teams would try him for nothing....

Maybe, if were lucky, we can mix him and some of our many late picks to at least create the impression we got something for him......like Johnny and a 5th-6th-7th for a 3rd......

OR .....we could trade him to Dallas for weeden......

  • Tell me where Cowher is wrong:

"I've watched Johnny Manziel now for a year and a half and I think he's a backup quarterback at best. And he's a distraction off the field," Cowher said on The NFL Today. "And listen, I believe in second chances but after the second chance, to me there's a zero-tolerance policy. He can't put himself into the position he put himself into.

"I would ask for his release and I would do it for this reason: in that locker room players want accountability ... and that's the message that needs to be sent right here, that you're accountable for your actions both on the field and off the field."

I don't give a fuck whether he's right or wrong... he has no skin in the game.

Does his HC tenure, when he had skin in a game, stand up to the scrutiny of his current, ill-informed assessment?

Sometimes it matters who says what... not just the what that is said.

Yeah...dont get me wrong, Im not necessarily screaming for his head, just saying what I think will happen...(tho I am over him...way)

What it really boils down to is what the BROWNS really think of him.....if they honestly think he's gonna be a franchise QB, they might keep him for one more try".......but if they dont really have an confidence in his game, he's gone.......(I think)....

Gilbert?.....he's performed about the same, but with only one known incident vs Johnnys multiple stacked incidents....not defending his play, but he's nowhere near the PR nightmare that Johnny has been....and he is starting to contribute now, so see no reason to do anything but see where it goes through the balance of the season.....

  • JM's on-field improvement has definitely played a role in my view.

And sorry 'bout the Gilbert jab... "just tryin' to keep it lively."

Yea I mean, he played a solid game in his start this year and won. Wasn't world-beating, but it was solid.

Not sure why everybody's so quick to trade him, cut him, etc. Had this been somebody without the name recognition, it would have been a non-story.

The feminazis always crack me up. That you actually believe Johnny wouldn't have received the same or more criticism had she jumped out and seriously injured herself is HILARIOUS.

Who says he's not accountable? Not all discipline is public. People should mind their business and let the team take care of it.

  • No charges were filed either in a similar type incident just last month involving our former offensive line coach but the Browns wasted no time parting company with Moeller.

Terrible comparison. Why do you desire to hurt your team so badly?

I'd agree with all that, but he's got to learn to ignore the stupidity. That accountability question was ridiculous on its face, thought not as much as the Moeller comparison.

  • Its sad that this is a legit question in year 2

  • I don't think it's a legit question, but that's just me.

Well it's been a ride. Last year I was pretty much 100% opposed to him. This year I was leaning Johnny after week 2, but since we've seen Air McCown I've been happy with Pett's decision to keep playing McCown.

But calling him a healthy scratch, cutting him, etc. over a TMZ story I'm not supportive of. His teammates like his progress, I've liked his progress (from what I've seen).

He's a 22 y/o first round QB who has shown progress and has shown he can win in the NFL, I'm not interested in parting ways for a 7th round draft pick (or no pick)

How? Mind you, annoyance does not equal any actual hurt.

And even if that were true, it doesn't give you the right to make stupid comparisons of Moeller which ignore all the facts of the case.

You're right. We totally weren't the laughingstock of the NFL before he came along.

How dare Johnny Manziel sully the near-perfect reputation of the Cleveland Browns.

    Facts of this case:
