Based on all the goings on in the middle east since 9/11 I'm increasingly of the position that while war there was unpopular it was probably in our best interest. The war in Iraq didn't stir up things like the Syrian civil war...that was already in the making. I'm just going to go on the assumption that the United states government had much better Intel than bbedward, random browns fan.

The destabilization in Iraq led to the Syrian civil war, how is that not clear to you by now?

No it didn't. The middle east is the most unstable region on earth and always has been. It would have happened anyway. You might as well sat the Russian war in Afghanistan caused it.

He's supposed to not let any bully that wants to take his microphone do whatever they want with no resistance.

He's running on a platform of inclusiveness, of giving a voice to the oppressed, among other things. How would that look if he refused to let them be heard?

He might have thought the optics would be bad if he had those two protesters ejected but in reality it would have made good optics. It would be what Bill Clinton did with his Sister Souljah moment. When you have thousands of people come to hear you, you cannot allow a couple protesters to take the event over.

This did make me chuckle (on subject of OP). Maybe he has a point?

"Every one of these candidates says, 'Obama's weak, Putin's kicking sand in his face. When I talk to Putin, he's going to straighten out,'" Obama said during a democratic fundraiser in New York City.

"And then it turns out, they can't handle a bunch of CNBC moderators," he said. "If you can't handle those guys, I don't think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you."

  • The candidates did deal with CNBC...very well I might add. I don't know how calling the moderators down for asking biased questions that had nothing to do with the economy (which was supposed to be what the debate was about) and kick the journalists who have about the lowest job rating of anyone in the country is anything but good politics.

  • Dealt with it by bitching about the questions, then cancelling future debates with them? Seems like they're really showing strength there.

  • And now trying to make sure they only get asked nice questions in the future?

Get some conservative moderators to do some democratic debates (although with the democrats they have rigged the system to not have a primary election but a Clinton coronation). When CNBC tells the RNC the debate will be focused on the economy and then liberal moderators go off on a tangent with ridiculous gotcha questions and questions to get one candidate to go after the other I don't blame the RNC at all for wanting some changes before going forward.

such a good point. I mean that is spot fucking on. If they think some of these token Hispanics like Esperanza or Jose over at CN-this and that are tough customers, holy fucking shit. They are not ready to be POTUS. Putin will shit in every one of their mouths.

You'll find me all in favour of that if you read my past posts. Asking softball questions leads to softball candidates. Ask tough questions and only those who can give tough answers will be left standing. There are far to many GOP candidates as it is clouding the field, you'd think they'd be happy for some of them to be weeded out with difficult questions.

Well, you're right and wrong. The middle east in the 20th and 21st century is absolutely the most unstable place on earth, because of the vast foreign interests that constantly play around there. Of that there is no discussion. A bunch of those countries didn't even exist prior to ww1 and 2. Their borders were arbitrarily drawn by western interests without a skoche of deference to what were Shia or Sunni areas. So yeah that's basically setting a time bomb.

But again, the uprising in Syria is a "direct" result of our bullshit in Iraq. Yes you can say there might have bee some other powder keg waiting to go off "somewhere" I the middle esat. But we're talking about Syria "SPECIFICALLY". That was because of the destabilization of Iraq.

One thing's for sure - you're going to get shit thrown at you once the real race starts, better to get it brought up now.

  • Or do you think the republicans would never start throwing baseless things around to smear the opponent? A certain "african muslim" might disagree.

Did you know the whole Obama not being born in the United States or that he is a Muslim (Okay I have some reservations he might be) but all this started with the Hillary Clinton 08 campaign when she was up against Obama? It was out of her own campaign these charges originated.

I did, yes. Though, it wasn't really her that started it, and it mostly revolved around birthplace. To which the republicans presumably said "hold on folks, if he's not eligible to run for office then our due diligence checks will highlight that fact and we'll know for certain well before he takes office" right?

  • The moderation of the CNBC debate was pretty bad, but I don't think the GOP is giving themselves a good image by the way they're handling it.

Now Trump is personally negotiating the next one? They should have called them out and left it at that, I didn't expect it to become this huge issue.

I'd bet on no affiliation at all over Muslim

There is no denying Obama had huge Muslim influences in his life. As for his Christian influences he went to a church led by Pastor Jeremiah Wright who taught a black liberation theology which is not the true gospel. Obama's claims he didn't really know what Wright was teaching was ludicrous in that he went to that church for 20 years and considered Wright a mentor. He knew what Rev. Wright was all about.
