Or that he doesnt have enough time to throw. Or 40 other excuses to account for his unbelievably consistent ability to LOSE FOOTBALL GAMES in numerous different settings.

Would you say we would've won many of the games we lost with even a tad bit more D? Even the Arizona game, the D was horrible in the 2nd half. Is he the best we've had since we came back, probably not. I really think Couch could have been great if we had any king of OL. But statistically, he is the best we've had.

Tacosman is only interested in the QB position because he's a Manziel fan first.

Not the fact that we get ~20 yards from our running backs in a game or give up ~20 points in a half.

And also you're not looking at the "right stats" which is why you think McCown is pretty good for us since 99'

I just covered all of his talking points I think?

I'd say we would have won the San Diego game with a tad more d. Thats pretty much it. The offense was horrible against the jets, bad for 2/3rds of the game against oakland which got us down big, terrible against the broncos, terrible against the rams, and terrible for the last 60% of the game against the cards(defense was bad for much of that game as well, but at least they forced an insane number of turnovers)

Meanwhile, if the offense would not have blown goats in the denver game, thats an automatic W. Our defense was great there. And defense was heroic for much of the st louis game too(zero points for almost 3 qtrs). So in terms of balancing out games which were lost by one side of the ball, the defense has unquestionably failed us once(san diego) in a loss and the offense twice. In the other losses neither side played well enough to expect a win.

This myth that the defense has let down the offense in losses has happened ONE FREAKING GAME. The san diego game.

dude, before you talk about my talking points you need to learn how to count first. I let that one supposed mental error go(when you couldnt divide two numbers), but then you come back yesterday and can't freaking subtract two digit numbers as well.......one time perhaps we can let slip, but two separate times now where you can't do simple arithmetic or 2nd grade calculations? You need to buy a grade school math for dummies book before you discuss any more numbers/stats with me. Or maybe go back to this engineering school you've mentioned before and have them reteach you some basic math.

I said we gave up 20-30+ points in the majority of our games and that hasn't changed. Sorry you're too stupidly ignorant and say OH WE HAD A PICK 6 THOUGH OH HERE - and cited a couple games where we didn't give up 20 points doesn't change the fact we gave up 20-30+ points in the majority of games we played.

My main point though, anybody who thinks our bottom 5 defense and #32 ranked rushing game are not costing us games is a fucking moron.

Since that's your point, you must be the fucking moron.

    Some stats to note:

    Defense:

#26 in points allowed per game

#30 in yards allowed per game

    Offense:

#31 in rush yards per game

McCown is an average quarterback on a team that has much bigger problems than him. You're not even a Browns fan so when you say "well we see what Johnny has if he sucks no big deal"

For you it is a big deal because if Manziel sucks and leaves your interest in the Browns will drop faster than a bad facelift.

  • Johnny it is.

  • Edited back to a statement from a question.

    Zombo

  • He will throw for 400 yards and 7 TDs bringing us to 2-0 in the AFCN 😉

  • Here's the article:

Browns preparing to start Johnny Manziel at Bengals

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000572344/article/browns-preparing-to-start-johnny-manziel-vs-bengals

  • you know what amazing....they actually DID change THIS article in the last 5 minutes......

Last paragraph originally said....""While some might wonder if Manziel is being set up to fail, this also represents a prime opportunity to shift perceptions about his up-and-down career on the national stage. It's your move, Johnny.""

and now it says..""While some might wonder if Manziel is being thrown into the fire at the worst possible time, this also represents a prime opportunity to shift perceptions about his up-and-down career on the national stage.

    It's your move, Johnny.""

God, Id wish they would stop....

Exactly WHEN is a good time to play him????....seriously.....turble

  • Stop lying, you said the defense gave up > 20. They didn't in those games. That's a very clear distinction. In most circumstances, I would just assume you were being intentionally deceptive to try to make your point. But given your previous history of being unable to do 2nd grade math, it's very possible that you really just can't add and subtract.

So again, before you discuss numbers or stats with me in the future, LEARN SOME SECOND GRADE MATH FIRST. Once you get the benefit of the doubt. Twice in two weeks? No way.....

  • As for johnny, this is a big moment for him.....sure, its a tough spot for him, but he needs to show us something to show that he can give us a spark going forward. Because we sure as hell need a spark.

McCown would get the same 1 practice + 1 walkthrough so not sure what the problem is either.

Honestly if Manziel struggles he will have generous headlines - if he wins he'll have generous headlines. So I don't think it's that tough of a situation.

Let's pump D. Bowe pull of drugs though so he does something, Hawkins+Hartline seem to be doubtful.

I said the Browns defense has given up 20-30+ points in the majority of their games and just recently supplemented it with we are ranked #26 in points allowed.

Again you cherry picked a couple games that we didn't give up 20+ points because it was convenient for you to do so.

Since you're willfully ignorant and 100% subjective in everything you post, I'd prefer to just call you a huge fucking idiot because they're basically the same thing.

I want Johnny Manziel to be the best quarterback in the history of the NFL for 10+ years and win many super bowls and be great - but even he (God himself in your eyes), would have had a really hard time with the #31 running game and bottom 5 defense. Despite the crap McCown has managed to look half way decent a lot of times and is insanely tough which is unusual for the last XX browns QBs.

Mostly directed at bbedward. Yeah- that crummy Defense, and not having any legit targets other than Barnidge and Benjamin.

OHOH, he directly lost the Denver game throwing a pick six, and taking two consecutive sacks in OT. The folly floater int against the Cards, a bad handoff to Turbin. Seriously- his only really good game was against the Ravens.

On the surface, his stats look really good- but if you use ESPN's total qbr- he's barely average. And not at all to my surprise, he's DEAD LAST in the NFL in taking sacks that kill drives- so I suppose his defenders are going to want to blame his offensive line for not protecting him well enough, or his shitty receivers can't get open- instead of the obvious he holds onto the ball too damn long, or he's too slow going through his progressions. He's not particularly accurate, and hate to say it- Manziel throws a better more accurate deep ball than Josh. I posted after the Rams game, Monday morning I was watching ESPN break down the Patriots- Jets game. Couple of times the Jets threw a 10 man jailhouse blitz at Brady- and both times he beat it. MHO- we would have seen Josh get buried under those circumstances.

Come on guys- I think we all know what a decent qb looks like- and despite his stats, McCown doesn't pass the eye test of being one. Johnny must totally suck if Pettine thinks a career backup with a 18-38, and a recent 2-16 record is the ticket to winning games.

That said, I really think it's unfair to JFF to toss him in as the starter on a short week, on the road, against a team some pundits are picking to go to the Super Bowl. The Bungles are going to want revenge for the pasting they took last year in prime time. Our only hope is Dalton plays to form sucking when the bright light come on.

  • You are lying *yet again*. I know what you said. You know what you said. There is a freaking record of what you said. You said the browns defense has given up over 20 pts in every game but one. I pointed out that, no, just off the top of my head there were two additional games in which they had given up less than 20 pts. Now you've told no less than two lies to try to backtrack(conveniently changing your phrase to 'majority of games'.....lmao....you dont see how absurd that is now after you have been called out??).

Anyone with an iq over 80 would have initially responded(when I pointed out that you were incorrect) one of of two ways:

    1) "ooops, I made another mistake"

    2) "you are right; I must really suck at math"(self deprecating)

Only an idiot would try to double down on their mistake, and then backtrack and act like they typed something different than they did. Like Im not going to notice that. Jesus christ.

I'm done with any discussions on numbers/stats(or quite frankly really anything) until you show some ability over time that you can either 1) stop lying 2) add as well as a 2nd grader. Preferably both.

this is an A+ post. Also, by advanced stats he actually doesnt look all that good.

I will take issue with one thing- I dont think it's unfair to manziel. Its the right thing for the franchise to put JM in now and see what we have. If he ends up sucking over a number of games, it was still the right thing to do. The fact that Pettine is collateral damage from that is a slight bonus sure i guess......

also, I dont know how many people are really picking the bungles for the sb. Yeah, they are 7-0, but they have played a number of close games against not so special teams. The patriots are pretty much everyones afc pick at this point. And although denver has also played close games against not so great teams, they may have taken it to another level sunday night against a very good team, so they are probably the #2 pick right now.....

The bungles are a good team no doubt. But I dont see them as some juggernaught. They could easily have a couple(or even 3) losses by now. I wouldnt be shocked if we win thursday....we have a 25-33% chance imo.

    That's his job.
Otherwise your post is a fine opinion, but I think McCown has looked decent despite the circumstances. McCown has been a high quality Brown so far - even if average talent he has given us enough to win games if we didn't suck everywhere else.
If you're already tossing out "unfair, tough situation" regarding Johnny's start on Thursday then I disagree. McCown would be getting the same amount of practice time, after getting his ass beat, in the same situation and nobody would call it a "tough, unfair situation"
It's a tough situation, but it isn't unfair - I hope he excels and gets us the win, and me a 6 pack 😉

The point is the exact same, defense gave up 20-30+ points in 5/8 games and is ranked #26 in the NFL in that area. Sound better fluffing it up a bit?

OK, I'll drop the "unfair". Johnny's been itching to start all year- and at any rate he's currently healthier than Josh.

It's fine and I think McCown is just decent, good sometimes, one of the best we had since 99' probably. I have a lot of respect for the way he's played and has conducted himself.

By many of those advanced stats, Brian Hoyer is pretty damn elite, Cam Newton is pretty damn bad. Sometimes there's more to the story, Tacosman cherry picks a few stats to explain how McCown is bad and ignores the ones that are good.

I hope Johnny does very well Thursday, but I will not concede my belief that McCown is not the biggest factor in our losses so far - we've lost games despite some nice performances from him - Denver being the biggest exception and Denver's offense was more parts bad that game than our defense was parts good.
