Anyone getting warmer on Bosa after last night?

I know that was a shit O line from Mn, but did anyone see him breaking up passes in coverage? C'mon this kid is an athletic freak along with possibly the soundest fundamentals I've ever seen from a college kid.

He is a freak and he gave me a first impression of WOW as a freshman. Like Phil Taylor and Gerrard Warren, his talent isn't the worry - it's how frequently he chooses to apply it especially if we're going to be drafting in the top 5.

I can't stand Cardale. He might be a nice kid i'm not saying anything personally about him, but i'm getting that Weedon like irritation watching him play. Yeah it's not Weedon bad, but i'm seeing so many plays left on the field. If we had to play in the playoffs next week I don't think we'd make it out of the 1st round with him as the QB. Defense' will do what Alabama did to LSU on Saturday, they absolutely sold out on stopping Fournette and dared LSU's QB to beat them. He could not. This is "exactly" what teams are going to do to us with Cardale as the QB, they will do everything they can to stop or contain Elliot. If we had to play, say Alabama next weekend....it would be a defensive struggle but in the end I see our D tiring out before their D cause we'll be on the field longer.

Yep....he doesnt look good to me, at all.....just stiff, awkward, hesitant, etc....
Didnt see it last year and dont see it now......

We need to fail for somebody. The more we fail, the better position we put ourselves to get our choice. Not that we wont fuck it up though. There seems to be some very interesting QB prospects in this draft. There are a handful of guys with NFL size and arm strength and Im thinking we should draft two. Between Lynch, Cook, Wentz, Hackenburg, Kiel, Brissett, Kessler, and Jones there is some real potential in this group.

Did you have any issues with his application last year? This is a draft year, he's peddling. Which is ok. He's got millions of dollars waiting for him, he doesn't want to Clowney himself.

What some of you may not realize is what we can do with our LB'ers if we had a fundamentally sound defensive front that at the very least slowed the run game enough to allow the LB'ers to play with a little more depth. As our defense stands right now, I would play our LB'ers almost damn near up the DL's asses. That's how bad I think our LB'ing play is. Maybe if we played them closer to the LOS they could not just get to the gaps quicker but maybe also pick the right ones every now and then. They're not reading shit right for some reason. LB'ers like what Carolina have play with serious depth because they can still flash up and seemingly always hit the right holes. I don't know if that's all scheme or all talent. Just don't know anymore. But which one of our LB'ers can trail a TE in a post route like Kuechly? Not only is Kuechly one of the best run stoppers in the NFL, he's freakin all over the place in coverage and damn near pulls in an INT or two a game. Dude's hands are always around the ball if it goes over the middle.
I'm not against picking Bosa. I just think our LBs stink, and they have for years. Kirksey shows some promise, Robertson isn't too bad. Dansby gives it his all, but his better days are behind him.

I would have to see the next Raw Lewis to even contemplate taking a LB'er over Bosa even though it's as big of a need. I say that cause I think we're looking at the next JJ Watt in Bosa, except he's further along at this stage than Watt was coming out. Of course he has to develop like Watt did, and that remains to be seen. But he does everything....his run defense is miles beyond what Watt was at this early stage in their careers.

Id say he surely isnt another Clowney....its pretty clear that he's a player who loves the game and has football in his blood.....
Clowney?.....not so much.....

well unfortunately we'll never know that for sure. Dude got nicked stepping into a divot on the field. I still think he's going to be one of the better defensive players in the NFL at some point, it just remains to be seen how long he wants to stay there. I agree with you on Bosa though. I just hope Pettine isn't arrogant enough to say nope, he doesn't fit "my" scheme. Fuck your scheme. Bosa is the kind of player you adjust your scheme for. You like DE's covering post routes? Ok fine, but get over it and draft this kid as a "DL"
I'm hoping we can offload Kruger next year, if we can and drafted Bosa...we could run a base 4-3 with the Bryants starting and Bosa backing them up. We can also keep Mingo and Orchard around for games we want to run more 3-4 looks and cycle the Bryants and Bosa around the 5 tech. This is the defense we should be running. Oh and go back to 1 gap.

Also not another Watt... As discussed last year he does not have JJ's explosive burst. Even without that as a 4-3 DE... absolutely have to consider taking him.

To me it's simply that the pressure got to him. I do honestly think he's a great football player, and he showed it last season. BUT you gotta sit there and realize he knew he was the man as the other two guys were hurt. If that was the case this year, I actually believe he would be playing better. It wasn't though and it made him do things anxious QB's do-throw high, behind etc. I'm glad he didn't but he should have left for the draft last year unfortunately. I do think he's a good teammate though which is refreshing.
As for Bosa, can't say I'd be unhappy with that pick. He's got everything you look for in a DE and his upside is huge in the NFL.

Agree on the Cardale psyche... when he was the only option he flourished. This year as one of at least two options... not so much. Very Hoyer-esque... and that is not a good thing.
Could he grow out of it? Could he gain unshakable confidence? Maybe... but at a minimum it sure sounds suited to be a backup...

I also think you can't underestimate how good Tom Herman was as an OC last year. He really played to the strengths of Cardale while it doesn't seem that way this year. Barrett is just days better at running the offense the way it's intended, whereas it was catered to Cardale last year.

i'm not so sure. I think his technique is usually to come off the line slow, read the play...than explode. But there have been situations where he had it in his mind to get around the corner from the get go. And the tackles are diving out to the edge for their lives. I think he's deceptively fast because of how smooth he is.

Watching Joey force Illinois into double teaming him with a TE, the. Chopping him with a back and on two occasions a triple team.
For all you Retards that think box stats are everything, forcing an offenses hand like that in their blocking scheme means more than you know.

Teams do exactly the same thing against A&M's Miles Garrett. Both will be top 3 draft choices, Bosa 2016 and Garrett 2017.

Joey was literally schemed to be triple teamed today, that's dominance on the field.

This was your quote in the JT Barrett got arrested thread about those stats: "I don't have to pretend, there are stats to quantify my argument about Joey." Then of course I brought you the bad news that his first 5 games shook out like this:
Va Tech (suspended) + Hawaii + Northern Illinois + Western Michigan + Indiana = a sum of a half a sack.
Before joining you in ordaining him as the next Reggie White - I felt there were red flags to discuss. Most adults in the first Bosa thread felt the same way with the biggest hurdle looking to be the inner chest. I've never questioned Joey's talent once I got my powerful first impression his Freshman year. I DO question how often he brings his A game - which comes from a fan that his witnessed first round draft picks here like Phil Taylor and Gerrard Warren. When he started the year suspended, it showed some people football wasn't prioritized enough to make the sacrifice.
The match-up today against the Sorority of the Big 10 doesn't surprise me they needed to chip with a TE and had a RB in to help out if needed. That's not only showing respect for Bosa but it's also a confession he's not facing an NFL caliber opponent. Reggie White got that all the time in the NFL and still tallied up tons of sacks so let's try not to confuse that with Illinois.
Joey Bosa definitely has the talent to be a top 5 pick. Does he have the inner chest to be a great one? We shall see.

Screw it, go Bosa. Then go Nassib.
