mccown is a gamer. looks like manziel might be too.

start manziel the rest of the year so a decision can finally be made and the nonsense in-fighting between fans/friends will stop.

And because we clearly have so many holes to fill, it would be best for the team if Johnny can be the starter long term. I'm not sure if he can or not but it certainly would be better to not have to draft a QB next year and we can fill some of the damn holes on defense.

I want to see Johnny play out the season. I do feel he can be our long term starter & we certainly would be far better off NOT having to draft a QB next year. As far as defense goes, we need to fill some holes, but I am not sure whether or not the biggest problem with our D is scheme.

First....I never said anything about Ngata and certainly didn't have a lot of takes on the subject....I don't watch enough college football to have any opinion so you're confusing me with someone else. I never said get rid of Johnny.. Jesus Christ...read what I posted. I never once said get rid of him or that we would be undefeated if he wasn't on the team. I've said that it doesn't matter who plays QB and what we saw today proves that point completely. So every Johnny fag who was telling us that we would have won games earlier in the season if Johnny had played were completely wrong. ITS NOT THE QB!!! I said it would be better for the team for Johnny to be the answer. I don't know if he is or isn't, i've seen 5 games and while today was pretty good...he's had some shitty starts as well. He should play so we can see if we need a QB or not. I'd rather not need a QB so we can fill the holes on this piss poor defense that gives up 30 every single game.

You were very outspoken about how overrated you felt Ngata was and you've been just as outspoken about Manziel Mark. Now you're going to pretend you haven't been about either? You said you lived out in San Diego so you saw a ton of Pac 12 Football and to trust you that Ngata was overrated from all that you had seen pre-draft. I remember because when you feel strongly about something - you don't just post it once - for example your certainty about Johnny before starts #4 and 5..

You'd rather NEED a QB so we're going to lose out and here's your dream come true with the margin of error of the worst defense of your lifetime. Enjoy because you're getting exactly what you're wishing for.

Bullshit Tom....I never had any opinion on him. Not a single one. In fact in my history on this and all the other boards, I rarely have too strong of an opinion on any player because I don't watch enough college football.

Again....read what I fucking wrote...it would be better for the team if he is the answer. I'll say it again....IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR THE TEAM IF HE IS THE ANSWER!!! Do you get it now? Our defense sucks....it doesn't fucking matter who plays QB...THE DEFENSE SUCKS! Which is what a lot of us have been saying all season. McCown...Manziel...Davis...Spergeon Wynn....it doesn't fucking matter until the defense can maybe hold a team under 30 points. Id rather not need a QB. Id love for Johnny Manziel to turn into Tom Brady...or hell turn into looking like Carr and Bridgewater and the rest. Maybe he can....I hope he can. I hope I'm wrong about him. Personally, no i don't think he can be the answer because he's not big enough and his off field problems are going to keep him stepping on his dick just enough to cause problems. I don't have an agenda here other than wanting the Browns to win games. I think we should play him the rest of the way and hopefully he plays as well as he did today and continues to improve. We have 80000 holes on this team and being able to fill them rather than taking a QB would be a big help to the team.

You're competely and totally wrong about Ngata. I never had anything to say about him. Most likely, I had never even heard of him. I never watch Pac 12 football unless its a bowl game.

81%. Soooo many missed reads. Lol

You can also fuck off. It was a jab at Walter. FYI though Completion % and missed reads can be independent of each other. That 81% has resulted in 9 fucking points. I know though, it's everyone's fault but Johnnies. Overall he isn't looking so bad. I just like throwing up the softball for you fan boys.

OK, Hawkins coughs the ball up. Benjamin drops a TD that hit him in the hands.

    @flugel said:

Why is it every time Manziel hooks up with Benjamin - it's the longest reception of the season for Cleveland? Not bad for a weak arm but was it in the pocket or out of the pocket? Gotta debunk something right?

Come on Front Office - Don Strock is only in his 60s and you don't have him signed yet? Oh wait, we have the previously unemployed phenom Austin Davis that got a wonderful contract. Definitely worthy of tenure here in Cleveland. He's clearly the answer to all our problems.

We're back to preseason football with 6-7 games left on the schedule and people are convinced Manziel is the biggest evil here?

We're about 30 years away from winning a playoff game after punting away the entire career of Joe Thomas. Proud moments folks - proud moments. Just scapegoat another QB we drafted as 100% of all our problems and all your problems are solved. I've watched this sequel play out since the NFL buried our proud tradition.

  • Let's remember too we played a bad d and what happens 6 yards rushing what's that tell us oh yeah they do not fear Manziel pack the box make him throw he bad should have never got him we could of had Watkins bad pick again but let's slow down killing the offence there operating without a wr that can take the top of a d or requires two defenders it hurts the whole operation

Agreed. I don't think ANY qb would make a difference given this D, WRs, & lack of running game.

I also believe playing Johnny is the only way he'll improve to the point that we may eliminate the need to spend our 1st round pick on yet another QB.

  • I think Manziel just might be our guy...

All the haters have obviously made their minds up already, but if you watch him play he is steadily getting better...

Id say we go with Manziel, McCown, Davis next year and use the offseason to add some offensive playmakers and more talent on D

If our coach doesn't like it... Bye bye

I would like to see some consistency from him before I'm giving him the reigns all next season But other than that shitshow on the first play, he played well with only a few questionable throws. I didn't like the 4th down pass across his body back to the middle of the field...looked too much like what we saw last season. But what I would like to see our coach do is name him the starter for the Rats game and give him the next 2 weeks to prepare and hopefully he plays as well as we saw today.

He did have a couple bad plays, but no QB is perfect. Im just trully impressed with what he can do right now and hes still developing. Seeing him start the next 6 games will be the only reason I watch the rest of the year. If Pettine goes back to McCown, I'm done with the Browns this year...

I agree.. I'm not looking for perfection. I"m looking for consistency. So hopefully next time out he will play more like today and less like the Cincinatti game.

Agreed the play was breaking down probably should have thrown a jump ball to one of our big receivers

11 run plays called all game... Hmmm...

Duke ran it twice for 14 yards early, then he got 2 carries the next drive... Then nothing...

He's our closest thing to a 4-down back. He should get 15-20 carries a game. I know some people don't think he can do that, but I'd rather be proven wrong rather than not try giving our best RB more carries...

This year has been very confusing, as far as coaching is concerned...

Spare me the drama queen. When somebody continues to post the same thing every time he posts - it's not that tough to remember the guy posting from the screen name MarkNErin constantly announced Haloti Ngata was overrated as frequently as he's announced he thinks Manziel sucks. Was that any tougher than remembering Lumberg's childhood hero was Derek Anderson or what guys in here were in Camp Couch back in 98-99? Not really when we spends months debating potential draft picks on your door step.

Actually, Manziel played better vrs Cincy than Ben Rapen did. Ben threw 3 INTs when his team lost 16-10. Manziel led us to the same 10 points without the INTs but in the second half - there were alot of dropped passes that killed drives. How'd our defense do? Cincy is undefeated so they're a much better opponent than the Rams that held us without a TD in a 24-6 loss with the QB that allegedly gives us much better chances to win in his 1-6 tenure as starter here. Have we ever seen a more appreciated 1-6 QB than poor Josh McCown who'sstill not healthy enough to suit up 2-3 weeks after getting killed in the pocket Pettine wants all his QBs to stay?

So you think 9 years from now Hoorta won't remember who got in his face the most about Manziel? And now you're telling me you've been saying all along you hope Manziel makes the HOF? Let me know when you actually believe that before we discuss who's full of shit.

I didn't like the 4th down pass across his body back to the middle of the field...looked too much like what we saw last season. But what I would like to see our coach do is name him the starter for the Rats game and give him the next 2 weeks to prepare and hopefully he plays as well as we saw today.

Agreed the play was breaking down probably should have thrown a jump ball to one of our big receivers

Benjamin, Gabriel or Hawkins? Could have been the non-existent Bowe I guess. Our undersized pygmies need pogo sticks. 😆

aw, thats so nice. but we are 31st in the league in rushing the ball and somewhere around last in defense...errrrr...me thinks that it doesn't matter who the qb is, we will be cellar dwellers until that changes...so ya'll can talk up all your qb bs all you want...

One thing I can't put my finger on is the massive difference in Crow in the sense that he was averaging about 5.4 yard per carry after 8-9 weeks last year. Today, there was a play I saw where if he had the vision he had last year - he could have cut it outside to the right when the edge rusher already gave up contain in his upfield move and Crow just stayed inside for a 1 yard gain. He seems like a different player this year.

A lot of young guys I couldn't wait to see some growth from this year have actually regressed like Crow and Gabriel (whom doesn't look like he belongs on an NFL roster any more). The 1 second year player that looks most improved is the one guy Pettine seemed least pumped about staring - Manziel.

If Blake Bortles had the type of decisive victory we had over TN only to get benched for a journeyman Qb the next week - would people think that was great development of a QB or wonder why Blake was your Qb drafted in round 1?
