But, from what we have seen in the past, everyone is gone

    I think you're right!
  • That's clearly an 80-year-old Joe Thomas, still playing left tackle, still not missing a snap, still going to the pro bowl, still not seeing a playoff game.

aha. You are correct. I think Josh McCown is taller.

  • I think the unknown guy is not Santa, but it may be the dude that supplies Santa with his magic snuff.

  • From the article I read, Manziel insinuated that the video was old, but he also didn't deny anything. He was very vague and he wanted to discuss his visit to the food bank and the importance of service to the community.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, I really do, but has he deserved it? I'm not saying what he did was wrong, and nobody here knows the details of his treatment plan. Maybe he's allowed to go out to clubs and the coaches are fine with it. But here's the thing...it's all about the PERCEPTION. Manziel has to know that anything he does is going to be all over the internet, and he has to know that it's going to cause a distraction. I'm not saying it's FAIR, but it's the way it is.

I would love nothing more than to read that this incident was old, and it doesn't matter. But I just don't think we're going to hear that.

  • What exactly is the problem here? Rich young man goes to bar?

I largely agree with you. It's tricky because we have a young man who went through a very public, and lengthy rehab treatment, and he promised NOT to be a distraction and not do anything to embarrass the franchise. It's all about perception. And the perception isn't good...regardless of how innocent his socializing might have been. He HAD to know that his actions would be plastered all over the internet, and he had to know the reaction wouldn't be good.

Aside from the non-football stuff, what really concerns me is trying to gauge Johnny's performance over the next 6 games when he has no running game, and no playmaking wr's. Is it really fair to evaluate this guy when he has such limited weapons? I don't think Johnny will be judged solely on wins or losses, after all, it's a team game, but it's not easy to judge a young QB when he has to do so much with so little.

  • The perception counts for precisely shit all. For all we know, he was in rehab for a gambling addiction and went to this club and didn't touch a drop of alcohol, but because of some people's 'perception' he's now in the shit?

No, no one should ever be judged with less than ideal surroundings in the NFL. Coaches aren't smart enough to do that. We will have to wait to judge him when he has a good running game, plenty of stud receivers and unicorns floating above him shooting rainbows out of their asses.

This is what I was saying to some friends, we don't and probably won't ever know why he went to the rehab center.

Speaking overall here, I get it's not ideal but the narrative isn't "Manziel goes to club, staggers out drunk and punches bouncer" now is it? It also can't be more embarrassing than the crap ass QB's to play the position before him. If he keeps playing like he did against Pitt on Sunday these pictures can flood the media for all I care. Heck, maybe we need a change of pace with a broadway Joe leading the charge cause the saints before certainly haven't done squat. We've already seen in film where it works once why can't it now?

I've been pretty quick to slam Johnny for his "distractions" through out this whole process....BUT, I really dont see any issue here at all.....dude is certainly allowed to go out and be social......and dont really see anybody of substance thinking he did anything wrong here.....at all...

The other thing I keep seeing is how he has "no weapons"......and I keep hearing, for instance, how Oakland gave Amari Cooper to Carr .....

So......we(the Browns) have the #11 overall receiver and #3 TE in terms of catches, TD's and yards this year.....why are they NOT considered weapons?......and how is Cooper so great, when he has the same(and even slightly less impressive) numbers than Benji?????

Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine said Tuesday that he's considering benching Manziel for the game against the Baltimore Ravens. This comes exactly a week after Pettine said that Manziel would be the starter for the rest of the season.

"To whom much is given much is expected," Pettine said ominously.

Pettine repeatedly said that he will address the topic more fully on Wednesday once he gets more "details" on the video. But it's clear he wanted to send a message Tuesday to Manziel and possibly others in the organization.

"When it's a repeated pattern of behavior, it's a concern," Pettine said of the video.
