What exactly is the problem here? Rich young man goes to bar?

I largely agree with you. It's tricky because we have a young man who went through a very public, and lengthy rehab treatment, and he promised NOT to be a distraction and not do anything to embarrass the franchise. It's all about perception. And the perception isn't good...regardless of how innocent his socializing might have been. He HAD to know that his actions would be plastered all over the internet, and he had to know the reaction wouldn't be good.

Aside from the non-football stuff, what really concerns me is trying to gauge Johnny's performance over the next 6 games when he has no running game, and no playmaking wr's. Is it really fair to evaluate this guy when he has such limited weapons? I don't think Johnny will be judged solely on wins or losses, after all, it's a team game, but it's not easy to judge a young QB when he has to do so much with so little.

I've been pretty quick to slam Johnny for his "distractions" through out this whole process....BUT, I really dont see any issue here at all.....dude is certainly allowed to go out and be social......and dont really see anybody of substance thinking he did anything wrong here.....at all...

The other thing I keep seeing is how he has "no weapons"......and I keep hearing, for instance, how Oakland gave Amari Cooper to Carr .....

So......we(the Browns) have the #11 overall receiver and #3 TE in terms of catches, TD's and yards this year.....why are they NOT considered weapons?......and how is Cooper so great, when he has the same(and even slightly less impressive) numbers than Benji?????

The perception counts for precisely shit all. For all we know, he was in rehab for a gambling addiction and went to this club and didn't touch a drop of alcohol, but because of some people's 'perception' he's now in the shit?

Exactly......I keep hearing alcohol alcohol alcohol......how do people know this???

Johnny Manziel spotted dancing with DJs and swigging Dom Perignon at Austin club during bye week - days after vowing to curb his hard-partying ways
    • Johnny Manziel was seen at the Summit Rooftop Lounge on Friday
    • A video of him dancing with a bottle was posted on Instagram by DJ LX with caption 'Sippin' on Dom Perignon for no reason with #johnnymanziel'
    • The day before he was spotted at the Rio Rooftop bar
    • Video comes just weeks after he was spotted partying with co-eds at alma mater Texas A&M university
    • Manziel was cleared last week by the NFL of an incident involving him and his girlfriend Colleen Crowley in October
  • merge or delete... someone looking for "clicks"...

  • talk about stirring the pot......

worthy of "delete", if yer askin me.....

  • Registered to post this...from the daily fail. Moving on.

  • Hold the presses!

Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine said Tuesday that he's considering benching Manziel for the game against the Baltimore Ravens. This comes exactly a week after Pettine said that Manziel would be the starter for the rest of the season.

"To whom much is given much is expected," Pettine said ominously.

Pettine repeatedly said that he will address the topic more fully on Wednesday once he gets more "details" on the video. But it's clear he wanted to send a message Tuesday to Manziel and possibly others in the organization.

"When it's a repeated pattern of behavior, it's a concern," Pettine said of the video.

  • Unless he was specifially instructed to not go out during the bye week (which you cant really say to an adult) I fail to see what he's done wrong here, assume 95% of the roster was out partying the weekend

  • Solid work on whoever's updated the thread title!

  • Fuck. Fucking fuck, fuck fuck, fucking fucker. <-about as articulate as I can be right now.

The staff wouldn't sit him if this was without substance, so clearly there's something to it, and he's been out again. Not sure I agree with it, but it is what it is, and it means that we're not set on him as our QB for the next game, let alone the next 5 years, so we're back to figuring out whether to draft Paxton Lynch, Jared Goff or whoever the fuck else, and not worrying about actually moving the team forward.

  • Pettine looked and sounded like beaten man with the Manziel situation, he's had enough and I expect McCown to start Monday night.

They just don't trust him at all, we're drafting a QB whatever happens the rest of the year.

  • Some day, somewhere, Johnny Manziel and Josh Gordon are both going to have a moment where they realise the opportuinty they both have, but by that time it'll probably be too late because they'll have been out of the league for years. Or, they'll end up going to the ravens, steelers or patriots or something.

  • Pettine looked and sounded like beaten man with the Manziel situation, he's had enough and I expect McCown to start Monday night.

God dammit!!!.....I can NEVER get my Johnny bashing right.....

Everytime he's in the news or drinking, I bash and bash and bash and the team(and league) do nothing......THEN....the first time I support him and say ..."Hey, its OK"...They go full on turncoat and say "big trouble"....

    Sheesh Loueesh....

He sure did......looks completely dejected and worn out from it all......

and when he told the press people... "Enough!".....you could tell that he's reached his limit....Poor guy...

  • Johnny needed to stay in Cleveland and focus on his game during the bye.

Ya, everybody is allowed to drink, and travel, and see old friends. And all the young unmarried players are going to do it.

But this guy was just handed the keys to the franchise. The season is over in two months. Just fucking commit yourself to the Cleveland Browns for two months, then you go party your ass off with your buds.

    He couldn't do it.

  • Personally, I could care less what Manziel does with his time off. This is just one more example of our lifeless coach looking like he doesn't have a clue what to do and is waiting for public opinion to make the decision for him. I want Pettine and Farmer gone before the season ends.

  • Sadly I think this spells the end for Pettine and maybe Farmer. Ironically, not Manziel though.

This is just so exhausting, I can't imagine how Pettine feels.

This is what I see happening too, which is depressing.

    ....exactly how I feel.....🙁

  • Pettine is suffering from confirmation bias. He is looking for a reason to keep Manziel on the bench.. IMO.
