  • Well, let's investigate Ghoolie's contention that "Running QBs are all shit". Here is the list of the Top Ten rushing QBs of all time:

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/gallery?id=5208880

Three of the ten are in the HOF: Steve Young, Elway, Tarkenton. Three of them could be considered borderline for the HOF: McNabb, McNair, Cunningham.

Then their is Vick, Harbaugh, Landry, and Ghoolie's favorite Queerdell.

After yesterday it may seem fair to call JFF a "running QB"......but honestly....I would hope that he would perform in the manner of several of these guys. Ten Superbowl appearances. Three wins. (maybe he is saying that the odds are not good for a running QB that appears in a SB to win it.....fair enough)

Well....you quoted me, so I assumed you were talking to me....crazy, eh?...

And I get its a forum and really dont take any of it too seriously.....

In fact, it seems to me that the JFF guys are the ones who take things too seriously and get all bent outta shape anytime you point out their boys shortcomings(of which there are many).....So, if you want the truth, then thats how it really goes....

I guess... What I see is in this forum are men pulling out their "I'm-still-in-5th-Grade" card and tossing around 5th grade insults at objectivity or opinions that differ from certain people on this forum.

If anyone says something that is not popular, immediate name calling and insults ensues. This is a good forum, fun at times, but damn it can be tiring when a decent thread turns into playground insult contest.

Does anyone care that Pryor was inactive yesterday? Does anyone care that Bowie was the team captain? There are other things going on with this team that deserve some conversation. JFF had a poor throwing game yesterday, we all agree with that. He probably lost the game. But there are some other absurdities going on. As much as we need continuity, hell, when I hear that Pettine makes decisions to make Bowie a captain and leaves Pryor inactive.... I have to smh.

I just re-read the thread and, honestly, no one is really calling anyone names or attacking anyones opinion directly.....xcept TCPO, who went after Zombos opinion, which started some back and forth, name calling, childish shit.....(buts thats it)

The rest of us???......just posting our football opinions about Johnny and how he played.....and a bunch of Johnny defenders disagreeing....but no name calling, etc.....

Name one receiver we have had since '99 that has helped us.

I can name a bunch.....in fact....8 out of the top 10 seasons for a Browns WR have happened since 1999....

Winslow, Josh Gordon, Kevin Johnson, Braylon Edwards, Jordan Cameron, Gary Barnidge and Antonio Bryant are all in the top 10 Browns seasons for # of catches.....

    @browns52 said:

because compared to what we have had since 99, he's a pot of gold.

....and in terms of yards....Josh Gordon & Braylon Edwards have the 2 best seasons ever for a Browns player....

along with Kellen Winslow, Antonio Bryant and Kevin Johnson.....

So....the truth is that the majority of our best receiving efforts have come since 1999 and they were all achieved with shit QB's....

And, if we exclude TE's from the equation, Webster Slaughter is the ONLY pre-1999 WR to make the top 10 .....thats right....9 out of the top 10 WR seasons have been after 1999.....

  • Cam Newton is shit?

  • Thanks mud for proving my point on benji.

And where are those WR's now, cept for Barnidge, who by the way, I don't think anyone was thinking he was coming into this year as the offensive weapon he has turned into. No one on this board saw that happening. We have continually, as an organization, drafted poorly. Also, the league is a lot different since '99. Rules have made it a pass friendly game, stats are stats, but generational context will always need to be taken into consideration. Plus the Brown, Pre-99, were a running team, and used their WR's as complements to the run.

The other point I will make to my 4th grade argument is that opposing or alternate opinions seem to turn into me verse you. Oh, you defend JFF, here is why you are stupid "rant rant rant".... "stat stat stat"..."you're stupid, you're stupid, you're stupid"..... "homo".

Were all Browns fans, but sometimes you think this is a Browns vs Steelers forum.

Ha, thought I was the only one who uses that joke. I hear they use a lot of spreadsheet-tracking spreadsheets in that department.

On JM, guy is showing progress. Can we stop flushing the team down the toilet at every minor issue?

I assume we both stole it from the same place. Anyone here know what that might be?

Back when they still had caffeine I drank some in college, I'll admit. Their only purpose is to get drunk using the spare change in your pocket. The taste is just something you have to suffer through.

We also used them as a mix-in for jungle juice - in additon to kool aid, sugar, pop, liquor, etc.

Looking back, there were a lot of bad ideas then.

I drank four in one evening...and that's back when they had taurine in them. This is a non-story.

Next up: Johnny Manziel drinks a glass of wine at Christmas dinner.

  • He's an idiot. And he's not very good.

    Time to move on.

And not because of lame videos. Because he is a lame passer,

    Zombo

  • Pryor was inactive again. This I don't understand. The position is so thin already and Moore went out with a concussion. They put Bowe in there probably to save face against his old team. I don't care who the QB is we have no legitimate weapons. Whoever is our GM next year better get real and join the league. Trying to do things Farmer's way has failed miserably. If they were hell bent on Manziel then why no Evans, Beckham, Funchess, anybody?

Well at least it will be a short trip from Lynch mob to lynch mob when he turns out to be the next ex-Browns QB. 😉

One week he passes very well....and he has drops galore.

Next week he is way off on his passes.

Come Sunday....it will all come together? He is dead accurate and his receivers don't drop anything.

I anticipate that....against you know who.

  • It does not matter what we think. The Browns will do what they been doing since we came back,. Johnny did not play bad yesterday as a RUNNING BACK but didn't pass for shit but then again look at our wideouts. I think Travis B (who is our #1) had 20 freaking yards! Gary had 49!!!! I am sick of changing coaches and quaterbacks. Get JM some weapons and then we will see. If we keep getting a young qb a new OC every other year or every year what do you think will happen?.

  • JFF will still be in the running next year. All I can say.

  • JUST SAY NO TO PAXTON LYNCH! Don't believe the hype! He's another Tim Couch in a crappy field of QB's coming out this year. Farmer blew it in 2014! This year's class sucks. There's not a blue chip among them.

    FanSided

He’s 6’6″ with outstanding athleticism so making Lynch the new it-boy was actually a good idea. The only thing about that is he had to keep playing this season and if he’s really not that guy, it will be exposed. We all know that NFL teams prefer big Quarterbacks, especially when they have the rare foot quickness and athleticism he has for his size.

But if that were all it took, Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III would have ascended to superstars. Not that Lynch is so much like them as his Spread Offense has more deep to intermediate passes with progressions than the other two. And while he does have the ability to gain yards as a runner, Lynch is more comfortable from the pocket.

But he doesn’t have the ability to throw in the run the other two QBs and Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has. Lynch’s completion percentage from inside the pocket is an impressive 72.4 percent, but it’s just 38.9 percent when scrambling right and 45.5 percent when rolling out to the left.

Despite his size, his arm talent has often come into question among scouts as his football stays in the air too long at times. He also winds up on his delivery at times and doesn’t place the ball as consistently as he should. Then of course, since he didn’t come from Power-5 conference shool, he doesn’t have enough big wins on his resume.

He and his Memphis Tigers’ win over Ole’ Miss was huge and that’s why he was able to come out of nowhere. But shortly after, he lost to Navy and Saturday against Temple, he had a pedestrian 156 yards passing with no TDs in a loss. It doesn’t look like there’s going to be an it-boy in this year’s quarterback class.

Perhaps the media will create one duri

As am I. Don't know if your playing devil's advocate bout I've never seen this much loyalty outta you Tim. I seemed to remember you not being thrilled about the pick and was in the Blake bortles bandwagon. But you wanna be proud of what you seen outta the position today I can respect that. It's what you've always wanted I guess.

I wasn't thrilled about the pick, and I haven't been thrilled by his last two performances. But the "this guy sucks, let's get this this guy instead" mindset has literally NEVER worked for us.

I was proud of what I saw from Manziel in glimpses. He had the flu, we were missing multiple receivers and our two starting guards...and Manziel said nothing about any of that in his post game presser.

It was a bad performance, but it's not the end of the world.

    what about coaches?
