  • Farmer 6 yrs DOPP

    Wolf 1 yr DOPP

GM would be an even bigger step for Wolf than Farmer.....IMO.

  • wolf would be the youngest GM in NFL history. but he does have lineage and a dad with a wealth of information and success

  • When Pro Player Personnel has been the problem since return in 99, I trust no Wolfe/Holmgrem Tree. I would trust a old school Brown thought. The guy is married to Bill Parcells daughter named Dallas. Started with the Browns in 92 under Belichick till move to Baltimore in 95 as Personnel Asst. In 96 as Personnel Coordinator in Baltimore drafted Ogden &Ray Lewis. 1997-00 went to Jets Dir. Player Personnel (Mawae, Testaverde, B.Cox). 2000-01 Pats. (Brady, Welker, R. Moss). 2002-12 K.C. VP player personnel/GM yea they got better also on his picks. His name SCOTT PIOLI. Sitting in Atlanta as a Asst. GM since 2014 & screaming for a chance at GM once again. Haslem call Pioli, your barking up the wrong tree imho.

  • lets all take a moment to celebrate the fact we are talking about the next browns gm rather than having to be stuck with arguably the worst GM in the past 2 decades

  • Ron Wolf as a consultant? Sure...

Eliot Wolf? Did not know GM ability was a genetic trait.

As was said, being a competent owner isn't a a genetic trait either. Mike Brown wandered for years in mediocrity. I have it on pretty good authority (a long time wino Bengals season ticket holder friend- like 50 yard line) that the intelligence skipped a generation down in Bungle land. Apparently Katie Blackburn- Mike's kid- is now effectively running the organization, and Mike just sits up in the owner's box for entertainment.

If we hire the younger Wolf, let's hope that's not the case.

  • Keep everyone, except O'Neil and some position coaches.

But could we do any worse, really, with a guy that has had 1 year vs. the 6 year guy?

  • I think Mr. Haslam needs to decide what offense and defense systems he wants run on his team and then find the best people to run those systems. Till he does that; it will just be business as usual.

Without question we could do worse. If I own the Browns and said to you, "Hey Gip, I'm letting you pick the GM this time." And in the other room Phil Savage, George Kokinis, and Ray Farmer sit at a big round table. I can't speak for anybody else, but Ray Farmer better be that guy. That's no endorsement of Ray Farmer btw, just we've seen much worse than Ray Farmer. Beau Bell our first pick in the draft, David Veikune who no one wanted for 200 more picks.....is any of this familiar?

  • Won't the new GM want his own HC .........OK your hired by the way you don't have a say on who the coach will be.....strange one that.

    Pettine should go too ......

Great. So I'll expect you to STFU if there's no improvement.

It's not just running "systems". The coach has to be flexible enough to fit his system to the players he has on hand.

Well, the new guy could both whiff on first rounders AND not get any quality UDFAs. At least Farmer does the latter.

  • That is sooo true; but, when the coaching staff dislikes a player so much that they do their best not to play him then we have a problem. The staff needs to be on the same page or it just will not work.

I dont think Haslem should make any football decisions.....especially about "what systems to run" or players to pick.....

Hire football people and let them evaluate the talent and make the football decisions.......

Unless, of course, the fans don't like what the football people choose to do.

  • OK, I can agree with that; but, he needs to pick one guy to decide on the rest of the staff so they all work together for the most part. And Haslam should never again make any decisions on player personnel from draft or free agency.
