Winslow now highest-paid tight end in NFL history.

will kellen rulez become for kellen winslow what lumbergh has become for da? only time will tell...
but seriously, kellen rulez might be like 12 years old.

You're the aforementioned Brownies! If I was addressing your front office the message would have been sent elsewhere.
As far as them coming out ahead, didn't the previous Butch Davis regime trade about 3 picks to move up one spot to get him? Pretty desperate, and no way they came close to breaking even. Not after they lost two whole years of production from him. The time is now. Hahaha!
so how does our past coaches mistake somehow make the amount paid to Winslow now.....after we've aready ran him into the ground.....not ridiculous. you gave 20 million to a kid that gonna cut and run with it after a season.
im still trying to grip your angle here.......we made a mistake taking this kid.....he ruined himself thru stupidity, so we let him go. you're infinitely superior FO then gives him what he wants, despite the fact he's a broken down old mule.....and you think coming in here bragging about it is gonna chafe our collective ass?
you're stupider than i initially gave you credit for. good luck finding a QB that can get him the ball.....

I fly no Tampa colors, just the rainbow variety.
I feel Kellen will produce more than any of you sour grapes Brownies are giving him credit for.
And, you assume more than I initially gave you credit for.
Wanna put him up against Royals in a little bet for '09?

You do realize that most Browns fans loved KW it is just he is damaged goods and not worth the risk of giving him the size of contract that he was going to want if we had kept him and had to redo his contract during contract talks. It is not that we did not or do not like him, just it is a risk versus reward thing.
"As far as them coming out ahead, didn't the previous Butch Davis regime trade about 3 picks to move up one spot to get him? Pretty desperate, and no way they came close to breaking even. Not after they lost two whole years of production from him. The time is now. Hahaha!"
So what does not matter what they gave up to get him. The fact remains giving him a big contract with so much guarenteed money is way more risky then just trading him getting something in return from him while he still can get value, How much value would he have if he got hurt this year and was done. Or we keep him, he does really good, then we reward him with the contract that he wants then he gets hurt. RISK VS REWARD nothing personal.
Personally he could have been one of the best TE's ever had he not gotten injured, then gotten stupid

That's why they're calling the Browns about aquiring Quinn, while as Flugel so elequently points out we've gotten 31 "no thank you"s about DA?neither you nor Flugel know what anybody's doing, Quinn lover.
neither you nor Flugel know what anybody's doing,
NFL coaches seem to agree with me.
Pot. This is kettle. You're black.
Dude you don't seem to realize that nobody wants DA. There is not talk of any teams wanting him over Quinn. All of the football talk on all of the sites, radio stations, and NFL TV shows speak to teams wanting Quinn. Not DA.
Damn you're just too dense.

First off the Browns made a business decision, they got something for him while they could. They came out ahead, they are not worried about what he does from here out. They are worried about his replacement.
So are the Browns going to laugh if he does not make it till say next year? NO they are running a business. They weigh the risks and rewards lose on some win on others.
A great coach once said don't worry about who you passed up and how they do in the NFL, worry about how the ones that you do sign does in the NFL. or something to that effect.(don't remember who)

You could say that about the Bucs now.
Tony Gonzales
Jason Witten
Antonio Gates
Owen Daniels
Dallas Clark
Kellen Winslow
Of these top TE's, what has their team done in the playoffs? Besides Dallas Clark, absolutely nothing. Zilch. Nada.
Having a player like Winslow is a luxury, something the Bucs don't have.

Are you fooking seriously pulling out that card? This from a team who gave Two 1sts and Two 2nds for a coach they just fired? Yeah, don't think they came out ahead on that trade, and they still haven't recovered from that stupidity.

Lum is proving to be a pretty dumb motherfooker, and I gotta say I'm a little disappointed.
Total toolpouch stupidity that boy is. Kinda Pittsburgese actually.

He actually did during that game, it was the only time in his life Lumbergh honestly looked at Anderson and saw the inferior QB we all see, that afternoon he actually called for him to be benched. As you can see that moment of clarity quickly faded....
It was the Evil monkey in Lumbergh closet that made him do it!

I still think there was a substitute hand in the puppet that day.

Well you guys sure have a funny way of showing it.So what does not matter what they gave up to get him.
It matters because you are the one who said they broke even. To help illustrate the point, if he were a Steeler I wonder if their front office would feel they "broke even". There's no hiding you're a Browns fan, that much is clear. It's seriously infected your brain. The fact remains giving him a big contract with so much guarenteed money is way more risky then just trading him getting something in return from him while he still can get value, How much value would he have if he got hurt this year and was done. He still had what? Two years left? My point is that he's about to pay off those couple years he owed you with elite, top 5 TE play in the prime of his career and the new regime sent him packing, for waaaay less than they spent. Way less. Add in the two years he sat rehabbing and the fact is Kellen got over on the Stains in a big way. He could have finished out his contract in Cleveland, right? When you spent $15 bucks on a tube of toothpaste you make certain you roll the tube all the way from the bottom. Guess they've just got money to burn up there in Ohio. They better draft a HOF'er with that 2nd pick to come within a mile of even having this conversation. -

Great job defending your team. I better watch out for you, the way you quote the same sentence twice really puts me in my "fooking" place.

so, i go and buy a caddy.....she's running great, everything i wanted in a car. while being stupid one day racing a pinto, i spun a bearing on the 4th rod whilst leaving that crappy ford in my dust.
now, my cars screwed. every time i start it up, i hear that knocking and i have to wonder just how much more time this engine will run. unfortunately, its not worth fixing because the damage is already done....and a crate motor would be just too much.
so now i have a choice.....keep this caddy knowing its damaged goods, and drive it till it dies. could be today, tomorrow, or never. or, i could sell it to the highest bidder and try to recoup some of my losses.
it just so happens i found a buyer that doesn't even know what an engine is, doesn't know what the problem is, but figured that at a reduced cost from MSRP that it was a good deal.
then the fool got the estimate for the new engine.....which he could have bought a brand new caddy and an additional beater car to boot.

You can find the prime of his career in that parking lot where he decided to go evil knievel.Bottom line is that kind of guaranteed money for a guy who is hanging on by a thread with his knee is stupid, you can spin it any way you want to make yourself feel better, but facts are facts.
Also nice try in hiding your stooler colors but they bleed through with your blatant stupidity
The prime of his career remains to be seen, and I think you know that. Trading money in the bank is stupid in my opinion.
Didn't the franchise eat the guaranteed money when they traded him anyway? Awesome business skills. Truly a model for the entire NFL to embrace.
I'm more of a Charger fan, really. Just trying to put it in ways you might understand, guess I was wrong.

How does a 2nd and a 5th rd pick equate to any kind of return on that investment choco? They won't recoup shit, he probably didn't fit Mangini's mold is more like it. Good coaches are like good salesman--they can sell (coach up) anything.
When you're 40 with 3 kids and an ugly ass wife....who happens to make GREAT money, sometimes it's better to just keep pounding that vag that has formed to you than start hitting the bar scene again. VD is rampant these days, you know? You never know what you might come home with come late April.
p.s. This caddy wasn't a dime a dozen, when healthy. More like a Masarati. But those are everywhere, right? Cheap too.
lolz

sure, but when that ugly ass wife is demanding to be kept in a penthouse, with diamonds galore, and has a tendency to mouth off about you to other people....then I think the scales just might shift the other direction.

Valid point. But that's when you smack a bitch up.
Most super talents need checked from time to time, Kellen is probably no exception.
Or go get yourself a nice rash from the dirts. An easy decision for most functional organizations. To trade a young, elite-level player who's willing to play his entire career in Cleveland..........you definitely need your head examined.
-
Why cause we made a business decision to get a return on him while we still can. and were not willing to give him the contract he wanted. Sure that is a funny way of showing it. Had he not been so injured in the past and not been on a short career he would not have went anywhere.
They did break even not totally but they got something for him rather then have him end up demanding more from us, we are not wanting to give, and then we can't get nothing from him cause maybe then no team will give up anything for him cause of the contract he then wants. Or he gets hurt during this season and has to retire or such. point being I wish him well (except for the times he plays us.)
My point is he is damaged goods. And the percentages are greater that he won't last then they are that he will last.

Prime of his career was cut short there is nothing that remains to be seen on that, no matter how good he is he would have been a hell of a lot better before injury. and if you think other wise then you are wearing blinders due to your obvious love of one player!

a 2nd and 5th is better then nothing. so how does that not equate to value! No one is questioning KW's talent, it is his durability!
