Name your top 5 offensive players in this division.

The Browns Board
46 13 1.1k
  • Thomas, Brown, Bell, Yanda, Green

  • Burfect

    RG3

    Gordon

    Nassib

    Joe Thomas

  • Joe Thomas, Yanda, Steve Smith Sr.,Gary Barnidge, Ant. Brown

  • On a related note, if there's a division all star team from each division, the AFC North would do pretty well. With Brown, Smith, Green and Eifert catching passes from Big Ben, Bell in the backfield, and that OL? Look out.

  • No Steelers.

  • I will do skill players only first...and look at each position:

    QB: BR

RB: Would be Bell but he will be suspended, in lieu of him...Jeremy Hill?

(but don't be surprised if the Crow/Duke combo isn't as good as any)

    WR1: A. Brown

    WR 2: AJ Green

    TE: Barnidge

Best 5 OL, regardless of position:

    Joe Thomas

    Marshall Yanda

    Andrew Whitworth

    David DeCastro

    Joel Bitonio

  • I'd struggle to put Barnidge as the top TE in the division ahead of Eifert.

  • My Top Five:

    1. Ben Rothlesberger - the Division's most dominant QB has to top my list.
    2. Antonio Brown - as near to uncoverable as there is in the Division.
    3. Joe Thomas - an LT that you never have to worry about? Priceless... ( Hi, Ghoolie)
    4. Marshall Yanda - as dominant an interior OL as there is in the league.
    5. Geno Atkins - when he's healthy, he's the most dominant interior DL in the Division.

    Honorable Mentions:

    • Steelers: Le'Veon Bell, David DeCastro, Maurkice Pouncey, Ryan Shazier
    • Bengals: Gio Bernard, Vonteze Burfict, Tyler Eifert, A.J. Green, Keven Zeitler
    • Ravens: C.J. Mosley, Eric Weddell
    • Browns: Gary Barnidge, Joel Bitonio, Andy Lee, Mitchell Schwartz
    • Ravens: A.J. Green, C.J. Mosley, Eric Weddell

    Move AJ over.

Also for the ravens, dumerville/suggs/flacco/smith don't get a mention?

  • Joe Thomas

    Corey Coleman

    Joel Bitonio

    Gary Barnidge

    Duke Johnson

    None better, none more solid.

  • I'd struggle to put Barnidge as the top TE in the division ahead of Eifert.

Well, correct me if I am wrong....but Barnidge made the Pro Bowl, and Eifert didn't. Let's go on actual production...not just what we think the potential of each player is.

Well, you *are* wrong, Eifert made the pro bowl (Barnidge was an alternate), and caught 13 TDs to Barnidge's 9. So, there's that.

So he's wrong on the pro bowl attendance side and the production side.

    I'd go Eifert as well

Your point isn't valid, - the Bengals' offense has offensive stars. Sure, a te that plays

in a successful offense with A. G. Green, Jeremy Hill at rb... sure, the offense

can get a lot more passes to their TE.

There's so much wrong in this I don't know where to start.

  • go ahead, make my hay. Comparing the @ of TD's of one TE on a

plyaoff team offense to the # of td's by a TE on a poor offensive team...

there is a lot more to the story than the simple comparison. That's all.

  • One plays for the Browns and is currently in our good graces. Therefore he is the best.

Asked for offense....perhaps a "defense" category can also be done.

    • Ravens: A.J. Green, C.J. Mosley, Eric Weddell
    • When did AJ Green play for the Ravens?
    • Browns: Gary Barnidge, Joel Bitonio, Andy Lee, Mitchell Schwartz
  • Ben

    Brown

    JT

    Green

    Yanda

If Haden or Atkins were healthy I'd consider slipping either of them in over Green because they can be that good. However they aren't. Though Geno might round back into form with a full off-season to get healthy.

Effiert is an elite TE and will probably supplant Yanda on this list soon enough.

OK so I'll start with 'AG' Green. Moving on. On 125 targets, Barnidge had 79 receptions (63%), 9 TDs (7.2%) and 1043 yards (8.3 ypr). On 74 targets, Eifert had 52 reception (70%), 13 TDs (25%), and 615 yards (8.3 ypr). The fact that Eifert got so many TDs with such a smaller number of targets can't make him a worse player - Barnidge was one of the only offensive threats we had, and that's reflected in his number of targets. So the idea that Eifert is a lesser player because " the offense

can get a lot more passes to their TE" is kinda stupid.
I'm not here to say barnidge is a bad player, I'm glad we have him on our team, but to say he's better than Eifert is a stretch.
