Locked The Browns Board

the browns have never had a QB worse than dalton in the playoffs, however.

  • Gipper---I'm taking Dalton over Flacco, Smith, Carr, and aging hillbilly Phillip Rivers faster than you can look in the mirror and say the word bloviate. And without any prompting from me you just admitted that Mariota, drafted top3 overall, isn't better than Dalton yet, and may never be. Plus, Mariotta has a severely broken leg, courtesy of the running skills he has that have almost no value in the Bengals passing scheme. Simply put, no black Tarkentons or impromptu playmakers are needed in a passing offense built around the pre-snap read, precise route running & timing, and above all....the QB getting the ball out of his hands in under 3 beats. Fast legs, a rocket arm, and a great set of tits are not required. Moving on, I also take Dalton over Siemian, Tannehill, and Osweiler, the latter being noteworthy only because it was the Texans who were thought by many to be the team that attempted to trade for McCarron last year. That leaves me taking Dalton over whatever the Browns and Jets throw against the wall on any given week.

Bottom Line: Andy Dalton is no Dick Shiner. Rather, he's a two-time Pro Bowl QB and even his backup is better than your current starter.

Gipper---I've silently read the forum off and on for years. Never bothered to write much because, lets face it.... you guys are totally irrelevant and constantly reminding you of that fact seems sort of mean.

RoyceRolls ---Not qualifying for the playoffs saves your team plenty of embarrassment I bet. After all, you have no chance to lose when you're not good enough to try. Besides, I'm sure if you did manage to make the playoffs some fresh new version of Ernest Byner would just fumble the ball again.

Rooting for the Browns is plenty embarrassing, but I can own it. I'm not the one bragging about a team that sometimes makes the playoffs and then immediately proves to be the worst team in the playoffs.

There are young adults graduating with masters degrees who weren't alive the last time the Bengals won a playoff game. Maybe the Browns are irrelevant, but that doesn't mean the Bengals aren't irrelevant. Your the bully making fun of the kid who shit his pants, while piss is running down your leg, congrats.

Actually, they did make the "playoffs" one year with Paul McDonald. That was the 1982 strike year when 16 teams made the playoffs and the Browns were 4-5 in the shortened season.

Per Ed Werder based on his "inside information" Patriots no way are going to trade JG (unless they are overwhelmed):

Two things there Gip. Mary K trying to create news and Boo had better get used to a second round pick for his man crush. Of course, Bill will ship him off if some team is dumb enough to offer a first round pick.

Werder seems to think that nothing short of the Browns #1 overall pick will pry him out of NE. I, of course think that is absurd. They would take #12. But I would not give them that. #52 at best.

We can draft a guy with a bigger arm with more mobility with a quicker release with at least as good accuracy if not better with poise and talent....and with only 2 less games experience in the NFL.

I see what you're saying, but that two games of experience is actually quite a bit more. Three years of running an offense, learning a system, understanding how to prepare, adjusting to the speed of the game, and witnessing first hand what it takes to win in the NFL. Yes, he's got just two games under his belt as a starter, but I believe JG would be ready to start day 1, and I wouldn't want to start ANY of these rookies in 2017 (as of right now, my mind can certainly be changed). The other thing to remember is that we might not have the time needed to groom a young QB. I think we need to win many more games, and do it in a hurry. 1-15 was so tough on everybody, and our front office and owner can sit there and preach all day long about building something great and the importance of continuity, but it's much more difficult to actually see it through.

Johnny Manziel has more of that experience an exposure than JG does. It that is all we are looking at, may as well resign him...if that is all you are looking for.

Not in this draft you can't...Otherwise, he'd be a consensus#1 pick.

Only guy that bothers me if he gets to #12 is TE OJ Howard. With Gronks health & Bennett slowing, Bill maybe finding a trade up partner from #32 for JG, if they flat out know they can't get another 1st rounder. McCaffery, Bill may have to move a little, if at all for now..

It's easy, even expected, to posture for the #1 overall, or any "1st +" deal now.

Let's see what happens as we approach draft day.

    There is no man crush.

Garraplolo is the best # 2 NE QB that I have seen in ages. Its a QB weak draft. If that bum Sam Bradford is worth all those pick than JG is worth a 1st.

I'll say it again- Bradford with the Vikes was a completely different situation. Still don't get it?

Bradford had started 63 games, NOT 2. Known quantity.

Vikes thought they were a playoff team. The 2017 Browns are not a playoff team with Garropolo, or for that matter Tom Brady.

Wanted to start the season off well with the shiny new stadium.

The mainstream sports media is doing all they can to link Jimmy to the Browns- because we have those extra picks. Lazy logic. Just because Minnesota was desperate (and gave up too much) to land a decent starter doesn't necessarily mean the Browns have to be stupid too.

crazy talk, McFagley. Go back to Bill,Kraft, the guys that carry's the muskets & the cheerleaders from your local Hooters & tell them any additional 1st rounder won't happen & quit cheating so our friend D'Quell Jackson can retire with a fully non-inflatable football..Tell Bill "no days off" is properly cheating also..
