yep. overthinking it. But there is no qb at the top of this draft. that is just foolish.
But Adams is a possibility, maybe. I'm just having the impression of Mingo being
superimposed over the impression of Garrett, and wondering if they line up much....
Maybe, but the top of the draft is where we reside. If we want one of the top 3 QB's then pick number one is where they will have to get him. None will be there at 12. Garrett will help this team win about as much as Clowney does for the texans. We could have drafted Derek Carr #8 overall but everyone said he wasn't worthy of the #8 pick. Damn wish we would have pulled that trigger instead of the crap we drafted. I will agree that none of the QB's are ready to start but that does not mean they can't be taken first overall. This team will never win until we get a QB.

so sad. We could have had Derek Carr with our #22 pick. ....btw, I note that Derek Carr was the similar size of
Trubisky... 6'3", 215
read about Carr then...http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1664819/derek-carr... and read about Trubisky...
I have us taking Trubisky with our #12 pick.

They do not Cal. Here's what I gathered. They're the same height 6'4", but Myles outweighs Mingo by a good 30 pounds, ran essentially the same 40- 4.64 to 4.58, out verticaled him by 5", and Barky didn't bench press at the combine- was he afraid to demonstrate he was a wimp? For comparison- Garrett did 33 reps, and 42" vertical at the combine. Incidentally, 45" vertical is the combine record. A few superman OL-DL studs have done over 40 reps on the bench. If you're interested- I looked it up- Joe Thomas did 28 reps at the combine, and ran a 4.9. I'd say Myles is plenty fast and strong enough. Have I calmed you down any? (edit. )
yep. much more sensible now. I also remember his coach saying that Garrett was such a nice kid, and then he goes
and terrorizes defenses. I'm good.

Trubisky is my pick but I don't think he makes it to 12. I believe we have to get him before the Jets are on the clock. Could we possibly go up to 5? Or just take him #1 and then go D at 12 like maybe Hooker.

Id say Garrett is the safest pick for our FO......so if he picks anyone else, he has some humongo balls......
Its pretty much a world consensus that we should tap him....so, even if he sucks, Id say Shashi is more protected from making a bad pick syndrome.....of course, pick someone else and then have that player fail...??....its over....
most recent board consensus for #1 pick was Shelton....and that pick is looking pretty good right now....(compared to most of our 1sts)

Here's some stats of this year's top prospects in varying schemes and techniques:
Myles Garrett had 32.5 sacks and 48.5 Tackles For Losses (TFLs) the last 3 years
Derek Barnett had 33 sacks and 52 TFLs the last 3 years
Jonathan Allen had 27.5 sacks and 41.5 TFLs the last 3 years
Solomon Thomas had 11.5 sacks and 25.5 TFLs the last 2 years
Previously:
Bark Mingo had 15 sacks and 29 TFLs his last 3 years at LSU

What were Garrett and Barnett's stats vs SEC opponents? I heard they were in Barnett's favor pretty big, which if true, is concerning.

Garett is no mingo. Yeah his run defense needs work but cmon, mingo was a safety LSU bulked up just enough to put on the line and send around the wide edge. It worked in college cause LSU.
Garrett has been scrapping with lineman enough that im not worried he'll be terribly overwhelmed. But his reps need metered otherwise we risk getting him dinged up. I think nassibs hand injury greatly hampered his development so we need to what we can to min that risk to garett

Im kind of starting to get keen on that usc kid darnold. Suck next year for sam?
If we were still in the 3-4, then there's no telling what our Mingo-ization capacity might be... But, no... Mingo and Garrett are nothing alike.
Mingo was a one-move wonder... speed... with an inside swim on a good day... and a slow OT. He only dreamt of bull-rushing and ripping...
Im kind of starting to get keen on that usc kid darnold. Suck next year for sam?
Haven't watched the kid yet, but if he's the one, then that's what it might takes. But as of right now SF and us stand as the QB-neediest, and they have to be the likeliest contender for the 2017 basement.
But some ream almost always surprises to the downside... often a team "set" at QB, but lose him to injury. So hello trade partner...
yep. overthinking it.
On the bright side... may be the first time I've accused you of thinking...

Garrett will help this team win about as much as Clowney does for the texans.
So we're only going 9 and 7 this year? Imagine our disappointment...

God what a disaster that would be. 9-7 with the best def in the nfl and a playoff run? Pfffttt, who wants that stress? Not browns fans i can tell ya. We like relaxing Sundays watching hard core prison anal with maybe a win or two sprinkled in for good measure

Subtlety is not your strong suit, is it?

Can't we just take Vontae Mack ?

I see bust potential with Garrett. That said, the ceiling is so high I think you have to take him.

I don't post much on here , but I feel like there is one factor here that hasn't been brought up.
This kid is consensus #1 pick....Every team in the league picks Garrett with the first pick.Even BB with his shiny new Lombardi would not pass on this guy.
Why? Because he's that much better than anybody else, and no GM wants to be the guy who passed on Lawrence Taylor .... To pick George Rodgers!!!
That doesn't mean he's the next LT, but the measurables are there that say he's the closest this draft has to offer as a sure thing...
and you make that choice every, single, time! And so do the other 31 teams.
