"With the First Pick of the 2018 Draft, the Browns Select..."

I've been saying Kirk's overrated since the middle of last season, and no one here has watched him more than me.
His PFF grade in the last two games is under 42.
He's eclipsed 60 yards just once this season.
He's on pace for 51 catches (and he is usually targeted 8+ times per game), 600 yards, and 7.5 TDs as a THIRD YEAR starter with a bunch of freshman receivers aroudn him.

True. However just like Garrett before him, the defenses are geared at stopping him before any other player on the team.
EDIT: And like the Browns we had not had great QB play and often miss him with overthrows deep.

......Someone who won't make much of a difference

I have heard a few commentators say that Mason Rudolph of OK State has the best skills of all QBs coming out that could translate to the pro game.
Would anyone object to bringing in both Rudolph AND his teammate James Washington both in round 1?
-
There may be a few drawbacks to Rudolph.:
Strengths
- Appears very accurate with touch
- Prototypical size
- Plenty of arm strength
- Makes smart decisions with the football
- Should end his career with over 40 starts to his credit
- Above-average athlete
Weaknesses
- Plays in a spread scheme
- Pre-snap responsibility is minimal
- Smaller hands struggled in the rainBut you know what his biggest drawback is? He plays in the Big 12. And what QBs has the Big 12 produced? A few, but most definitely mediocre at best. Current Big 12 QBs in the NFL
Brandon Weeden
Geno Smith
Sam Bradford
Landry Jones
Trevone Boykin
Andy Dalton
Colt McCoy
Patrick Mahomes
Anyone else?
Dalton probably the best.

Another weakness is the red nose....couldn't possibly disguise a handoff

nope. the new qb for the Browns will be Josh Allen. Hogan and Kizer can back him up.
We passed on Wentz, big colossal mistake - Allen is the Wentz type - just draft him - he's the
real deal.
-

I don't care about the hype over Rosen, Darnold, etc. really dont' care. When I look at film of all the top qb's...
Allen is my qb if I was going to draft one. He has the Carson Wentz factors - strong arm, touch on the ball, very
mobile, has that fire, that competitiveness, the leadership, the high football IQ, the instincts, the timing,
rough tough outstanding kid - multi-sport athletic ...maybe the strongest arm, but the most accurate arm, he extends
plays naturally - looks off the safeties instinctively - often, he can be looking left, and immediately turn and look
right, and throw a pass. He throws passes like guided missiles. JOSH ALLEN. Browns first round pick.
-
Amazing - Allen even got advice from Carson Wentz ! No wonder I see them being so similar ~
they BOTH played for the same coach ...Craig Bohl ! The new Browns qb - JOSH ALLEN
I watch Allen play, and he does a lot of small things that Kizer never can do. Allen is my
Carson Wentz can't miss pick.
-
-
LOL. I admired Wentz, I admire Allen. It's just what I see in those two qb's.
-
-
Worst possible Scenario - Sashi Trades the #1 pick to the Jags, or Steelers for their pick and another first the next year
Also, Sashi trades the #1 pick to the Redskins for Cousins and a pick (unlikely)
But, I know he'll be thinking about it. BUT, if we trade down, there will be riots in cleveland next year. lol i'm not even kidding

I see nothing to show that he is any more the real deal than Rudolph is. Plays a lower level of competition.

“He’s O.K.,” said one AFC scouting director. “He’s playing in a great, quarterback-friendly offense. Probably has a top 10-caliber group of receivers. Gundy is a great coach and does an outstanding job with that offense. I’m not sold on him as a top guy . . . He’s a decent athlete. He’s tough and runs that offense well. But not sure the video game numbers he’s gonna put up this year will translate to the NFL.”
“He’s got good size,” was the positive an AFC personnel exec found before echoing the sentiment, “but his arm strength is lacking and he’s inconsistent with his accuracy.”
Added an area scout: “Not as good as the media wants everyone to believe; he’s a Day 3 guy. His accuracy isn’t as good as the numbers show—his receivers make a lot of tough catches for him. Arm strength is adequate, not tops. What’s the difference between him and Bryce Petty?”
But, in regards to the NFL draft, you should know what you’re watching. There have been 12 quarterbacks in major college football history to throw for 5,000 yards in a season, and just three of them—Derek Carr, Patrick Mahomes and David Klingler—went in the first five rounds out of the draft. The other nine? Two sixth-rounders, two seventh-rounders, a ninth-rounder (when that round still existed) and four undrafted free agents.
“At at a minimum, [Rudolph] has to have the arm talent,” the AFC scouting director said. “He might have the mental ability, but we don’t learn that until we get our hands on them after the season.”
