Ogunjobi is a terror in the Middle. Could do with one more beast inside. CB depending on who all we keep but we should finally have Howard Wilson healthy and he's supposed to be legit- freak accident breaking his patella(kneecap) in training camp...

I like all of our players.

Wilson has been hurt for like 3 years running.  Why on earth should any of us expect him to contribute?

As I said this morning on another thread, obviously he is kept on IR by the FO for a damn good reason. If they had no expectations, he would have already been gone.

  • The nice thing about finding DTs that are good against the run is today's NFL values a pass rush over run defense.

You can probably find one or two this draft on the cheap.

This draft is loaded with talented DTs that would fit our D well. But like others if the  BPA is a LB like White of LSU, take him and go for the DT in Rd 2.

Isn't White a MLB? If so, are you moving Schobert to OLB?

White has played Rover LB in mostly a 3-4 system at LSU, so he has played everywhere at LB. as most rookies, coverage skills will be tested at nfl speed..

Possibly. But White is a major step up from Schobert. The guy is going to be a monster for some lucky team. He doesn't just hit, he runs through blocks and destroys. Take note in this video how really strong his hands are too. Not only does he track down speedy RBs/QBs, but he grabs and slings people around with hands that belong on DLs. Excellent in pass coverage as well. Multiple reasons why he won the Butkus Award this year.

  • i will add, i loved the get low mentality that GW brought to our tackling. What was not thrilling, was the poor tackling angles we repeated to take from our LB/DB's..This Kat, seldomly misses what he is after.. nice video Ag..

  • Any decent run stoppers in FA ?

  • If I am replacing one starter, it is Coley at DT.

Kirksey is probably next (sadly, because I like him) and we need to take a hard look at the OT situation.

Love another big WR, gonna need another corner, and can't have enough pass rushers...

BUT everything changes with a new coaching staff, the schemes they run, the type of players they want ... Prepare for change!

Prefer the term prepare for upgrade rather than change 🙂  a lot less needs changing now compared to recent off seasons 🙂

  • If there is a change in coaching.  There will be a big change in players and a four win season.  It will take any squad time to adjust to a new coach and scheme.  Learning curve will last into week six of regular season.

Hunt is, ansah i think is too. Hunt could play all over the line he's a beast ..ansah is a LDE, and a good one. Id sign both honestly. Then we can target a rookie DT with no worries.

  • Not surprised at Interior DL being #1, but surprised at:

    • how close LB finished, and
    • how low CB finished.

I've been beating the 3-down LB drum for years, but voted CB after seeing what Ward brought and feeling like he might not be available enough going forward. Plus while I've always believed Wilson (remember him?) had a chance to be very, very good two years on the shelf has reduced his odds of impacting the game.

  • A bad ass lb would go along way for the run defense

    also they need a kicker

  • Let's go Linebacker!

  • LB'er is the last thing on that front 7 that needs anything right now. The DL needs help first, than we have to see what's up with Ward. I'm happy with Kirk, Collins, Schobert, Avery and Vallejo. Infact I think Vallejo might push one of those guys hard next year for the starting job. If Collins leaves than im open to signing or drafting someone .

    Vallejo is just a guy.

Part of us moving into the "good" category of teams means we need to not put average players on mantles

Maybe, i cant know for sure....but i saw flashes from him that were elite level read and react. And he seemed to shed OL better than schobert. But thats eye test based on the TV angle....cant always see how he covers downfield. Speed and strength at the LOS seemed to be superior to our LB'ers including collins.

As for drafting a LB'er, im assuming theres a player u have in mind.....and im assuming i can guess where he plays...?

And if there's someone who knows a ton about this, it would be a TTUN fan. 😉

  • Vallejo? Ray-Ray Armstrong is the next LB to look out for next year! Rated number 2 defender per PFF our last game against Baltimore.

Plus, his name is Ray-Ray!! Ray Squared! Boxing you in, walling you off.
