The ship ran aground on rocks in January, after attempting to enter a harbour during bad weather. Iran initially tried to downplay the incident, but it soon became clear that the wreck was unsalvageable, leaving Iran with only one large surface warship in its enti"

Gulf Tanker Seizure: Senior UK Politician Says Britain Did Not Take Up US Offer of Assets

A senior British Conservative Party lawmaker said Sunday he understood that the United States had offered the use of its assets to protect British shipping in the Persian Gulf, but the offer had not been taken up.

            https://www.cnsnews.com/video/gulf-tanker-seizure-senior-uk-politician-says-britain-did-not-take-us-offer-assets

They have had what two tankers now seized by Iran? but guess they didn't want any help from the Trump administration..Oh well.

I actually like that they didn’t take us up on it. We have people already beating the drum to go to war with Iran. If an Iranian sent a strongly worded email, we would be destabilizing another Middle Eastern dump.

You have to respond to a bully. Trump showed good restraint in calling off an attack on Iran when he found out the estimated deaths of Iranians would be over 100 and that that was an over reaction response to their shooting down a drone of ours. Instead he went with more sanctions. How England handles the seizures of their tankers by Iran is their business but I doubt if they just sit back and take it. Let's remember too It is Iran that is pushing the envelope and being the aggressor.

If you want to fight a war and do some nation building like we have tried in Iraq and Afghanistan that might apply but there are other ways to punish Iran and not going for regime change.

We seem to be incapable of not totally botching punishing ME countries. We didn’t put boots on the ground and still found a way to turn Libya into a complete disaster.

those middle east countries can be crapholes, and getting rid of the outhouse doesn't make it all clean in the pit. But sometimes, when the outhouse users are terrorists going to kill you..... it's time to drop a big bomb and take out the outhouse and blow the pit out, and let the remaining outhouse users rebuild it.

                        something like that.

That is how Israel does it and they have lots of experience dealing with terrorism. In Libya we really didn't have any business getting involved and hindsight being 20/20 Libya was better off with the dictator anyway.

Overthrowing the dickheads that were in charge didn’t make us any safer. Instead of terrorists focusing on the dictators (i.e. Assad) they were left with lots of territory to control and only the West to think about. I would rather they stay in perpetual conflict in their shitty sandbox.

You shoulda stopped while you were never ahead, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to embarrass you again.

You sourced a link that ranked Great Britain 5th.

I sourced two links. Neither rank GB in the top 10...the 1st link GB is ranked 32nd LOL.

Iran blows GB away,  both consistent in ranking Iran 4th.

Iran’s fleet consists of canoes and guys in water wings.

Dig into the numbers supplied by that site. They count a patrol boat the same as you would an aircraft carrier.

Iran has zero aircraft carriers, zero destroyers, 88 patrol boats, and a ton of auxiliary and amphibious vehicles that make up the bulk of the 398. The site also said it doesn’t account for technology level. I don’t think the Brits would be concerned.

The business insider said 230 of their vessels were patrol boats. Quantity =\= quality here.
