comments along the lines of he's not preparing like manning or preping as hard as he could really aren't that subjective.

You're correct. My original comment was imprecise.

I meant my comment to reflect that the quote Lynch's attributes to JM is open for interpretation. That quote is the linchpin (pun not intended) of the Lunch's entire commentary. The rest is all anonymous sources stuff.

^^Anyone could see this controversy coming a mile away the minute he was drafted. I will always view it as a mistake. Of course, I was also of the belief that his skill set was not conducive to being an nfl QB. add that to his immaturity issues and his celebrity status and its at least a 90% chance for his utter failure. I guess we will be forced to see. I predict it won't be pretty.

Yep. Instead of giving Hoyer his well earned shot we let the Media sway us......

I admit I allowed myself to get swayed and all caught up in the excitement.

But the self loathing has been implemented and is in full swing right now. I will work it out.

But for the Manziel lovers, let's be honest....the playoffs are gone so, for me, this weeks game has nothing of much interest EXCEPT for how JFF does....

Next 2 weeks are gonna be owned by the Central Scrutinizer....the white zone is for loading and unloading only.....

Yep. Instead of giving Hoyer his well earned shot we let the Media sway us, or rather Haslam did and jumped on grabbing Frodo. Now here we are. Bottomline: Hoyer earned, not deserved he fucking EARNED the 2014 Season. Not competing for the spot, not as a lame duck placeholder, not with a 1st rd bust in waiting behind him with one foot out the door. He earned an entire season of no distractions and the ability to grow and improve his play. Instead here we are yet again.

Had to pick a qb, I wish it wasn't JF but we needed one.

Hoyer did earn the job though, sorta. He played a little better than johnny in pre season, but he still sucked. He played very well early in the season and then unearned the job with his shit play. He played worse and worse game after game. When there is a 1st rd draft pick waiting in the wings, JF or not, media and fans will clamor for him if the qb play gets shitty enough.

  • Who is making excuses for JF? I think everyone agrees he didn't play well Sunday. The difference is some are keeping it in perspective(that it was just one start and 18 throws) and others act like one start proves he will be a bum.

I don't like Mariota a whole lot, definitely not enough to make a big trade - I wonder if the FO is still high on him though.

All this hoyer talk is hilarious. JF may or may not turn out to be a very good qb(we are 5 percent or so towards knowing), but regardless of what happens with JF hoyer is a complete non entity that isn't even worth discussing. He's an older backup journeyman. That's what he is. Having discussions about him as if he is anything but is absurd. Being the older backup journeyman he is, he played almost a season and was towards the bottom of the league(as expected) in most metrics....not his fault, because that's just what he is. So in terms of how hoyer should be viewed, it really doesn't matter if one believes manziel is the next Montana or the next Patrick Ramsey.

It takes one bad game with the odds stacked against him and the fair-weather fans jump off the bandwagon of their first round rookie, and the most electrifying player in enter the league in years. If johnnys not gonna get those 200 starts n Cleveland, then he will someplace else. And a lot of those will be from the postseason and pro-bowl....

Do us a favor and shake that fucking head until it comes clean off...

Hoyer was 7-6 as a starter. That's the ONLY stat that matters.

I know the so-called "metrics" say he sucked, but the so-called "metrics" don't win games

Even when the Browns were 7-4, Hoyer's "metrics" sucked, but we were the talk of the NFL

How were the odds stacked against him?

Because he was drafted into the NFL and then was asked to actually play in a game?

No we were not the talk of the nfl. Are buzz level was still very low, mostly because it was 7-4 against the 31st or so ranked schedule in the league at the time.

And even if hoyer had played good those first 11 games, it's still not important for how we view him because he's still a BACKUP JOURNEYMAN. backup journeyman at his age just don't wake up one day and become good starters to build on.

Hoyer gas nothing to do with manziel or JF at all.

I dreamt that whole no turnovers opening, that O-line top ranking at the quarter pole, and the greatest road comeback in the history of the NFL?

    No buzz?

Taking second team snaps all year, doesn't have chemistry with receivers/line, team gave up after playoffs looked unlikely, played best team in the conference (would be second best if browns give Johnny the keys from day one).

Man am I glad you showed up to clear things up for us. My confidence in Johnny just went up 100% 🙄

Everything you said belongs in the excuses thread, but I'll address the playoffs thing. Playoffs were a likely scenario going into Sunday. They became unlikely by the end of the first half.

It wouldn't surprise me to find Farmer is high on Mariota, but there is no way in hell that the Browns draft him. Farmer and company are far too intelligent to trade away their draft for the chance to grab a QB one year after selecting a first round signal caller. Even if Mariota's stock slides and he is available around pick 15 I can't possibly fathom the Browns pulling the trigger on him. No FO in the league would ever admit that they missed on a first round QB after three games, it just doesn't happen.

Har- you want Mariota, it will cost both first round picks, plus Joe Haden.

I'm mostly on the same page as Ghoolie. If Manziel totally shits himself the last two games- it puts the Browns in a bad, bad place. Are the Browns going to waste yet another season, only to find out Manziel is another Geno Smith?

Hoyer played like shit for 5 games in a row. He had his shot to prove consistency, and failed. Pettine wanted to keep giving Hoyer chances but eventually he ran out of chances

Browns fans are Retards. This fanbase is so out of whack. First we want Hoyer signed to forever, then for 5 straight games Hoyer sucks, so we put rookie Manziel in. He sucks when the entire team forgets they actually have a game to

Play that day, and we want to go back to Hoyer. Fucking idiots

  • @typicalbrowns said:

Name me one player that played well Sunday Zombo. The punter?

The team as a whole, collectively played like Absolute dong.

    Johnny had no chance.

Was he bad? Yes. Did he play like a rook? Yes.

Did the team elevate their play around Johnny to increase his chances at success? No

"Brady had no chance ... Colt had no chance .. Charlie had no chance ..."

And they all went on to such stellar careers once they got away from our terrible rosters.

I'm sure there are 31 teams wishing they could start Johnny Manziel this week, because if all the rest of your players play well, he's spectacular. I assume.

This is the same team that was one dropped/misplayed pass from beating the Colts, same team that was in playoff contention after 13 games with a winning record ... we changed the leader, they play like dogshit ... so we blame the dogshit and not the leader?

So the team was supposed to elevate their play around Johnny to increase his chances for success?

    That's really what you said?

I've been watching football wrong all these years. I swear when we had QBs that were difference makers (Kosar, Sipe), they elevated the players around them.

This was not a "we're out of the playoffs so let's get the rook some playing time" game. it was "this team needs a spark and this is the guy to do it" game.

Of course, NOW it is "we're out of the playoffs (almost) so let's get the rook some playing time."

If he wants to spend it floating passes into the middle of the field he'll be able to get out of miserable Cleveland and their terrible team in no time at all.

    Zombo

I don't get it dude. If u watched the game, the you don't respond those words. It is very naive and ignorant to believe with how bad the team played a rookie from anywhere can succeed.

Times we made a play or first down, penalties were called

Times Johnny made a good throw, dropped by the reciever

Times Johnny made a decent read, his rookie awareness caused a pick due to his hesitation. (His actual mistake)

    Run game, non existent.

Your rambling won't get the entire 53 man roster to do its job during a playoff game. The run defense was abysmal. Receivers dropped the ball, and o line played terrible

Go ahead and blame Manziel dumbass. I bet he lights it up against Carolina and you'll drool all over his ballsack.

He has the intangibles he just looked RAW. He is a ROOKIE. The team around him played HORRIBLE. The worst game of the year from an all around team standpoint. Manziel is the starter.

Don't know how you can argue that with a monologue on how bad the team has been in the past. Is that your excuse Z? I love u dude, you are a wonderful browns fan/poster but I feel like impatience is the problem here
