Wasn't my intended direction of movement, which was down in the 3rd and 4th, but for the right player...

Now...see.....I cant get with moving down and adding more picks.....especially late ones......I honestly think too many picks too many years ina row dilutes the team and doesnt allow for proper evaluation or development....would much rather consolidate those later picks and get fewer(better) players.....

So if you add a couple picks late, then you forego a couple UDFAs.

Camp is limited to 90... I see some decent, 4th-5th-6th round prospects, but precious little in the 7th which infers the UDFA class will be weaker than usual.

At a minimum I could see trading either 6.01 or 6.04 for a midling and late 6th. Boards are so scattered by that stage you can probably land your 6.04 guy in the 6.15-6.20 range and still pocket a 6th round Comp... a Comp that could even end up being worth a late, 2018 5th to someone.

    6th round?.....have at it......

4th and earlier......use our picks or move up.....

    For me...instead of getting an extra 6th.....Id rather use that 6th to turn my 4th into a late 3rd.....or a 5th into a 4th...etc...

Again.....with the 22 young uns we brought in last year....plus, what? another 15-20 coming this year?....how do we play and evaluate all those players?......especially if it takes a min 2 years to see what you have?....

I dont want to flood our roster with a huge pile of late rounders that we are forced to keep around for evaluation, playing time, etc...so, I say consolidate those15 players to 8 higher percentage players.....

But, again, we're going into camp with 90... plus PUPs, so the number of youngsters, i.e., the evaluation/projection load, is not going to vary. You can argue you'd focus more upon, play your fewer, higher-taken guys, guys who you are likely going to assign a lower "stick" threshold and thus get more data over more time anyway, but then odds increase that the potential of one of lesser players you sign to fill out your camp eludes you.

How to evaluate them all? Coaching staff breaking down everything... scouts evaluating scrimmage and preseason tape... analytic data generation and crunching...

As for concentrating picks... that simply flies in the face of analytics. The odds of hitting upon one of two 25%-ers > one of one 40%-ers.

#castawidenet... and if you understood that, then you know tweets... 😉

You know we did that last year and ended up cutting/keeping a lot of the wrong guys......you do realize they kept every single player they drafted, right?.....and thats NOT because they deemed them the best players....it's because they wanted to keep and evaluate their guys....

Which forced them to cut some of the wrong guys.....and vets who could have helped this team....

    It'll happen again this year......

He's revealed himself to be a flat earther that believes in aliens. Looks like mock 3.0 will be different 🙂

Ditto... I like Conley, but not enough for top half of the first. Just means another option for us at 12 if he goes top ten...

Cutting vets wasn't about 2016... it was about looking for the nucleus for 2018 and beyond.

And it was a good recipe for 1-15. You can't "develop" talent that isn't there. I hope Sashi and DePo have learned to swallow their pride this year, and admit they threw away picks on bums instead of letting them waste roster spots.

You'll see more from the receivers they drafted last year. At times we were running two receivers last year and everyone else was blocking. They've upgraded the line, don't dismiss last year's guys just yet.
