    Garropolo passed the eye test every game with the pats.  He's continued in SF.

    Still pissed they messed up this deal. Would've been best case scenario.  He's ready to start for 10+ years based on what he's shown.

  • Its not superfluous...it is just transitory.   The guy that is #1 last week will be rated #10 next week, and the week after that he will be rated #5....then he will go back to # 1 or 2...then back to 10 and on and on and on.

    Sometimes you are completely obtuse.   I REPORTED that CBSSports had put, at one point had put Rudolph at the #1 overall prospect of the entire draft. I REPORTED that with that, that perhaps he should be a guy to which we should pay attention...and said that we should not sleep on him.  YOU took my REPORTING of these facts as a stone cold solid endorsement of him by, which, of course, you were wrong about, because you were so wrapped up in this fantasy that you know more than anyone else and that you need to somehow disparage the opinions of others....even when those opinions amounted to nohing more than the REPORTING of what some well respected draft prospect evaluators say.   It is as if you COMPLETELY deny the fact that it was CBS Sports who produced this evaluation....yet you attribute it to me, even though I clearly said that I am not joining ANY "Camps" over QB prospects.  So....quit attributing matters to people that you think you want them to have said....and read/listen/learn what it is that they actually DO say.

    Sure, Gip... you spent a couple pages of posts defending a flawed CBS ranking that had Rudolph at #1 overall, but #2 at his position because you were taking no stand.

    @the-gipper said:

    Why is the ranking skewed?   Simply because you disagree with it?   CBS is pretty well respected.   And from what I have seen so far this year....which is some.....Rudolph HAS been the best looking QB of all that I have seen.

    But I am not jumping on his bandwagon or into his camp....but the fact remains.....this guy WILL be a factor when it comes to who the top QB taken will be.

    @the-gipper said:

    Point simply being....Rudolph will be a factor in the issue of which QB goes #1....just like Trubisky was last year.

    What makes you think it is flawed?  I was reporting it....and I was saying that I think he may be a factor.....after all, the CBS guys know more than I do and they certainly know more than you do about this subject.

    Point is, again, simple:  these rankings can vastly change between now and April

    .

  • Yeah, that's the thing about this time of year. You know for sure things will get moved all around. I find myself getting angry more and more because there isn't that #1 guy teams would kill for. I remember last year people thought this year's qb draft class would be godly, and I don't believe that to be the case at all. Rosen certainly is appealing, but analysts don't seem to be falling all over themselves for a team to take him. Darnold seems to get way more exposure than I think he should, and I've seen him throw the ball into harm's way too much. Of course, this was at the beginning of the season and he played better later, but whatever.

    I find myself lamenting the Garoppolo failure more than ever. We heard the excuses for our qb's that we didn't have any weapons. Well, can anybody name me the 49's top 3 wide receivers and tight ends? I can't. So Garoppolo comes in mid-season and has the same playmakers the other qb's did, but he somehow puts up 381 yards in the air.

    John Dorsey obviously has some connections to Kansas City, so he better use them to get us Alex Smith. Get Alex, draft Rosen, draft Minkah Fitzpatrick. Surround Josh Gordon in a protective bubble. We'd have a brand new team.

    Won’t be easy. Bills are much closer to fielding a playoff run than us. Alex is 33 & would get them closer. Bills have 10 picks in 2018 draft. Bills have KC 1st rounder. Rams 2nd rounder. Philly’s 3rd rounder. Plus their own picks in all 3 rounds.

    lol... put your own quotes in front of you and you still can't see.

    Point is you hanged your hat on Rudolph being "a factor when it comes to who the top QB taken will be" and " the fact remains.....this guy WILL be a factor when it comes to who the top QB taken will be."

    Now you are saying, "Hat? What hat? I don't even own a hat?"

    As for the flaw... it should be sufficient that CBS ranked Rudolph #1 overall yet #2 at his position. But here is my more detailed explanation... again...

    What h has pointed out that you are running into, Gip, is that CBS' rankings, which we know you love, are powered by DraftScout, which we know I love.

    The problem that CBS has, is that DraftScout has not and will not merge their 2019 (or 2020) underclass ranking into their 2018 Senior class ranking until players begin declaring. So CBS is "winging it" at present.

    Here is link to DS's 2018 QB Class with Rudolph (R-2/3) a falling to 2nd behind Mayfield (R2). http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/players.php?genpos=QB&draftyear=2018&sortorder=tsxpos&order=ASC

    And here is the link to DS's 2019 class with Rosen (R1) in the Top Spot above a falling Allen (R1), Jackson (R1) and, surprisingly, my former darkhorse nominee, Nick Fitzgerald (R-1/2). http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/players.php?genpos=QB&draftyear=2019&sortorder=tsxpos&order=ASC

    Tin Foil, perhaps. He could be a factor still.  We got 6 months to go through all this crapola.

    As for your explanation....basically you are saying they won't do anything definitive until all players coming out have declared.  Well then, maybe we will just have to wait and see until after Jan. 15th....or whenever that deadline is.  After all....apparently if they wanted to, both Darnold and Rosen could stay in school....and maybe some others.

    Right now, McShay has Rudolph as the 6th best qb. Walter Football 8th. Both don't see him in the discussion for the top pick.

    Watched his Bowl game today, and came away moderately impressed. Certainly a better showing than poor Kurt Benkert today. He certainly has an NFL arm, and if he has accuracy issues, I didn't see anything horrible today.

    Maybe Camp Rudolph and Camp Allen?

    https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/camping-world-bowl-score-mason-rudolph-james-washington-show-off-for-nfl-scouts/

    NFL scouts have been high on Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph and Biletnikoff Award-winning wide receiver James Washington for a long time, and their finale in the Camping World Bowl in Orlando, Florida, put one final piece of great tape on the DVR as the two seniors enter the next phase of their football careers.

    Rudolph completed 21-of032 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns in the 30-21 win over a Virginia Tech defense that came in giving up just 187.2 yards per game. Washington was his primary targe, with five catches on 10 targets for 126 yards and a 65-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter to push the Pokes' lead to two scores.

    This was the closing argument for the duo who grew up together after fighting to get noticed as prospects.

    Rudolph is No. 13 overall  in CBS Sports' ranking of NFL Draft prospects and No. 2 among likely quarterback entrants -- ahead of UCLA's Josh Rosen and USC's Sam Darnold. The combination of accuracy on deep passes and ability to hit his receivers in stride on short and intermediate routes makes him desirable for teams at the next level who aren't stuck in the stone age and willing to recognize how well the Cowboys' system translates to today's NFL.

    At 6-foot, 205 pounds, Washington doesn't exactly look the part of an imposing physical wide receiver at the next level -- undoubtedly one of the main criticisms you'll hear over the next five months. But all the dude does is get open and make plays.

    He finished off the 2017 season with 1,549 yards, 13 touchdowns and plays bigger than his frame. He's ranked 16th overall in CBS Sports' ranking of draft prospects, and No. 2 among wide receivers behind Courtland Sutton of SMU.

    Whoever CBS Sports has ranking players entering the Draft must be hitting the meth hard.

    Rudolph is ranked ahead of Rosen and Darnold? Washington and Sutton both ranked higher than WR Calvin Ridley of Alabama?

    CFL front office cleared him to play after a very thorough investigation of his behavior and his fulfilling of their requirements for clearance. He must still be in contact with JG since they both appear to be making all the right efforts to change. It will be interesting to see if June Jones picks him up and plays him this summer/fall on the Tiger-Cats. Unlike Hue Jones took over an 0-8 team this summer and led them to a 6-4 remainder of the season record. BTW Jones was on the receiving end of JFF when he was the SMU HC. He likes how he plays and thinks it fits the CFL very well.
