Haslam is the Problem

The "boss" needs to adress this simking ship. Dont ask what needs to be said, but leadership from the very top is whats necessary right now. Would be better if the owner was actually from the area and a long time fan but whatever.....jimmy needs to take some personal action like tommorrow morning. And no judt firing some jokers to bring in some new jokers isnt gonna cut it

Haley will be the scapegoat ...Hue will get an extension on his contract ....

The "Boss" is inefficient. He's spent the lowest of any team the past 5 years (or something like that).
Sashi was the first scapegoat, and Hue is the next scapegoat.
Haley is Hue's scapegoat to buy more time for Hue.
Moneyball is over, yet we're still the cheapest NFL team.
Maybe team's with no talent can't win. We need real talent. We've had practice squad receivers for how many years now? Now we have Hubbard and a rookie protecting Baker?
Now we're rumored to trade Devalve, Jamie Collins, and the other vets we have again? Doesn't that seem like we're starting moneyball over from scratch AGAIN?
Jimmy needs to spend his money, point blank. Not wait 4-5 years to hit free agency, not to try to get late fifth round picks and build through the draft, but to bring in some big name free agents. Jarvis Landry is all we have at WR. Higgins is a WR4 on most teams at best, and Calloway is light years away to where Calvin Ridley is now.
As much as some disliked Gordon and Hyde, they made Baker better because we had more CBs looking at Josh and Landry, and in addition, getting open more.
This makes me wonder, why we stripped the Team of depth, such as getting rid of Nassib and others. Why would we do such a thing? My Take : It saves Jimmy money with his "moneyball" aka owning a football team for as cheap as possible, and making money regardless of how little he spends on salary.
-
I understand Hue is clueless, but regardless of our head coach, I don't think we can be competitive until we get some real talent on the team.
What is the estimate on this so called plan? Win 5-7 games this year, and 8-10 next? Be competitive? If we don't hit free agency and get a big name in here in the next two years, what's the point?
Has there EVER been a superbowl winning team that spent the least amount of money in the league on salary? Or is that directly tied to competitiveness?
How long must we wait to get a big name free agent like Mack or Von Miller in Cleveland? 5 years? 10 years? or Just hope we hit a few more in the draft?
We have no direction, And I feel like Dorsey is the only Hope we have. He's a great talent evaluator, but I don't get why we cut Nassib, got rid of Meder, and just frankly we get rid of ANYONE with depth on the roster. That leads me to think Jimmy likes saving every nickel.
You guys can defend Jimmy and say we're rebuilding if you want, but we've been rebuilding since I was a little kid in 1999.
How many other teams have practice squad receivers?
The direct correlation between Pettine's bad record and Hue's abysmal record is the lack of Jimmy providing talent to the Team. Was this moneyballing thing all Sashi's idea? Depo? it's certainly not Dorsey's, but trading Josh Gordon for a 5th and getting rid of Hyde for nothing REEKS of a Jimmy moneyball decision.
I'll full out protest Haslam in 2021 If he has practice squad rookies in at WR with one vet. SPEND some MONEY next offseason Jimmy...............
Heck if he gets rid of Collins, and all the other vets and trades them for 5th rounders, i'll protest as well.
I think even Tour would agree with me on that.
Is Hue the worst coach in football history? Or is Jimmy the worst owner in football history? That is the question......

was nassib really costing us anything?

Carl Nassib signed a 4 year, $3,598,862 contract with the Cleveland Browns, including a $889,752 signing bonus, $889,752 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $899,716. In 2018, Nassib will earn a base salary of$773,000, while carrying a cap hit of $773,000.

So no.... Well there goes the moneyball excuse for him.

Haslam is a slimy pile of Sheet we know that. And finally last year the fans stopped going to the games and Dorsey was hired. This is the first year with him and his resume speaks for its self. Breath and relax. The browns won no games last year and with a few calls being enforced correctly they would have 4 or 5 wins. I would say Dorsey will get some players at the dead line if they can not only help now but in the future I trust him to do the right thing.

we just need a new owner

I don’t believe that Haslam has stopped spending ever. His biggest issue early on was meddling in personnel and he learned from it. I believe if a $50M stud was available he’d green light it in a heartbeat. His hair trigger firing may have swung a bit to far but overall Haslam is nowhere near the top of our issues list. We have some coaching and execution issues for sure. I hope we bring some help Monday, especially a WR and O line!!The biggest thing right now is that many fans (self included) got caught up in the hype and expected to much from our formerly 0-16 team. We’ve won a couple, tied one and took 4 teams to OT. We’ve had horrible games and exciting games. Such is the process with a young team. Whether we fire a coach or not we are going to have more exciting games, more wins and also more stinkers.

So you don't like Haslam's hiring of Dorsey?
Nor the subsequent hirings of Highsmith and Wolf?

I stated that I like Dorsey tour, but I feel as if Jimmy is acting Jerry Jones-esque at times.
Maybe he's not, and I could be completely wrong, but that's what I believe.
The big question for me, is when will we not lead the league in having lowest salary cap?
Will we have lowest salary cap for the next 10 years? and If so, If we don't have a winning season in the next ten years, could that be related.
and Lastly, how is it a good thing for us to have the lowest salary cap in the league year after year?
-
The Browns completely tore this franchise down to the studs prior to the 2016 season. Over the last few seasons the overwhelming majority of the team was made up rookies or second year players. Players that tend to be relatively cheap. Dorsey recently admitted that the team is still in the rebuilding phase.
Name me one team in any sport that spent a good amount of money on their payroll during a complete rebuild of their franchise. Do you want me to post the payrolls of the 2013-2015 Houston Astros?

Well, you certainly can questions some of Dorsey's moves- especially unloading Hyde. In part- today we've seen what happens when Duke got hurt.
Short of it today- OL looked like crap, Garrett for the most part got contained, and we had no answer for Connor- again.

Ummmm.... no....
Yeah that Jimmy is a real tightwad. NOT!!!! From Wiki.... for the short attention spans....
"In 2013, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam announced a modernization project for FirstEnergy Stadium. The project included two phases that took place during the NFL offseasons in 2014 and 2015. Phase one included improving the audio system, installing new scoreboards three times the size of the original scoreboards and at the time the 4th largest in a NFL stadium, and adding more seats to the lower bowl. Phase two included concession improvements, upgrades to technology connectivity, graphics throughout the stadium, and enhancing the premium suites. The renovations reduced the stadium's capacity to approximately 68,000. The total cost of the renovations was estimated at $120 million with the city of Cleveland paying $30 million over 15 years and the Browns covering the rest of the cost."
Meaning Haslam is dumping $90 million of his own money into the stadium- that he didn't have to. So those thinking he's on an economy kick regarding the Browns payroll are full of s**t.
