damn weeden make a play DOWN THE FIELD. You've got enough time and these pittsburgh corners certainly arent world beaters......if we lose this game at home to a team playing their third string qb....jesus.

Weeden....just Pathetic........ -
Weeden....just Pathetic........Weeden stares down recievers, which is part of why a guy with his height has so many balls batted down. He was advertised as an accurate thrower,
by who? himself? the gm who picked his sorry ass?
Anyone watching 2 minutes of oklahoma state game film last season could see there was nothing accurate about him. The whole offense consisted of up tempo bubble screens and swing passes and throwing crossing routes to a wide open Justin Blaclmon.....never once did I watch oklahoma state play last year and said "yeah, this guy is a future nfl qb".....
he never had to hold the ball that extra second and slide away in the pocket of a rush and throw a tight windo0w strike downfield.....not once in his whole college career for that team and that conference. Im kinda bummed that bama beat that out now for the national title game against LSU because if weeden and co. had had to face that beast of an LSU defense mo claiborne, erid reid, sam montgomery, kiko mingo and the rest of them would have exposed our qb for the fraud he was(it would have been ugly) and he would have fallen way way down the draft
-
Weeden....just Pathetic........we'll never know who would have played better with this offensive package, weeden or mccoy. because mccoy will never get that chance, barring injury. there was never a true competition and even if weeds throws 5 ints shurmur and holmgren will never admit (by benching weeden) to wasting a first round pick on a 39 year old guy that can only throw a baseball.
BUT that's why YOU HAVE to play the guy. he came with a BIG price tag with that valuable pick
it was a bad pick.....a wasted pick. Sometimes you just accept your losses and move on, rather than compounding the loss
-
Weeden....just Pathetic........Classic. Always rooting for the Backup QB. If Colt were to come in you guys would start rooting for the third string..
I think most of us know colt sucks and has no future going forward with us. But benching weeden for colt would accomplish two things:
1) send a message that we still need a decent qb for the future and that we have no long term plans for either of these guys
2) give us someone to root for who is a little more likable like I said above
-
Weeden....just Pathetic........I'm ready for colt right now as well. Fuck weeden. He sucks.
And nobody better say "oh it wasnt fault it was tipped".......nonsense, that wasn't an unavoidable tip. It was well off the line of scrimmage and weeden should have been able to see that was obviously in the path of the throw.
just a dreadful throw.
-
Weeden....just Pathetic........bench his ass......
Colt is no better I suppose, but at least he is easier to root for. And since neither has any future with this club or as a decent nfl starter, may as well play the bad qb
who is at least easy to root for.

Our Qb Is Not The Answer....He had *all day* to throw today, and we see he just doesnt natural game speed reactions. He is tentative, uncertain, looking for the checkdown.
No pocket presence at all.
Many of those things dont get better with time.
I dont know or care if he is better than colt or not. My guess is he is, but we need to find a solution at qb.
The secondary during the second half was atrocious today, but that will get partially better when haden comes back.
But weeden is a loser. I said it after week 1 and Im still saying it. His statistics make him look more effective than he is, and his statistics are prety bad(next to last in qb rating I believe).
He has an above average arm if he has time to wind up and step into a throw, but that is it. His other innate abilities are poor. He doesnt have good accuracy in tight windows- thats a skill that cant be taught. He is slow with his footwork- another skill that cant be taught. And his natural instincts under pressure simply suck. He doesnt have a future as a solid nfl starting qb.
-
First In Nfl To 6 Losses....Do you actually watch the games? Weeden is far from a failure and is progressing very well.
espn did a breakdown segment(both jaws and dilf) and both had him a clear 5/5 amongst the rookie qbs. Dead last.
I can't read a bill simmons column without a gambling joke about how bad brandon weeden sucks.
He's a laughingstock, or at least that's the perception around the league.
-
First In Nfl To 6 Losses....we're 1-6 and really, we havent exactly played a murderers row....
13 points is going to lose games in the nfl about 85% of the time. At least that's what the stats say. Also, that was 13 pts against a *bad* defense.
Weeden is not progressing any. Still no pocket presence. Still not very accurate on small window throws. If he were 22 I would be skeptical he has any future....at his current age I'm much worse than skeptical.
Almost none of our young players are players whose ceilings would project them to be plus players.
At qb, no...benching weeden(although he is sorta a common punch line/laughing stock) wouldnt do any good since colt is not any good either.
-
Worst Team In Nfl, No Hope To Get Better....I'll disagree- it's coaching. There ARE talented young players on the Browns. What kind of IDIOT Head Coach takes out a running back who's averaging 5 YPC, and calls an obvious passing play on third and one. Man, you really fooled them there, Pat. If I was the owner, Childress would be HC after halftime.
well yeah coaching is horrible...no doubt. But that's just the rotten cherry on top of this shit sundae. Watching this game, as in every game this year, it's just obvious the other teams have a lot more talented players than us. A lot of these young players on defense have such a low ceiling that even if they do improve they are still losing mediocre to below replacement level players in general...
-
Worst Team In Nfl, No Hope To Get Better....After a great start, the wheels have predictably come off...
weeden threw a really nice pass to gordon. Problem is since then he gets an F-. I've said it before and I'll say it until the end of this 2-14 season....he is not any sort of solution at qb. neither is colt of course. They're both terrible.
The sad thing is this a giants team who is *terrible* as home favorites. Just brutal.
The worst part is there is no hope things are going to get significantly better. Sure there will eventually be an uptick just from random chance(no team can consistently be this horrible), but we dont have some great amount of young talented players. We foolishly spent a #3 pick on a running back who is good(because every 2-14 team needs a bigtime rb!!). Our defense has some young players but they all mostly suck so that's not an upside....
I don't know how we can keeping watching this team. If there were some glimmer of hope maybe...but there isnt.

Weeden Looking Dreadful.....absolutely no feel for the pocket...that last sack where the ravens only rushed 3 was pathetic.
He hasnt made a single nice throw yet.
Yes some of the shorter passes could have been caught, but a lot of those passes were thrown into situations where there was no chance for success. why not check through progressions and have a shot at a favorable play?
bench him I say. even if he 'improves', it's clear he just doesnt have the skills needed to be a quality qb.
He was dreadful draft pick who racked up big yards throwing wide open slants against big 12 defenses......easy to see this failure from a mile away.

Barkley Or Thomas? If we keep playing the way we are now, then I can see us atleast getting the #2 pick In the 2013 Draft. Although I won't be suprised If we land at #1, and I also won't mind It seeing that It will give us more options. But lets face It, after this year, we will probably be drafting ANOTHER QB. Which Is sad on my end, I wasn't really all for the Weeden pick either, but things happen.
Anyways, I was doing some research on Thomas, (Mainly because he's listed at #2 on Mel's Top 5 for the 2013 Draft) and I found that he's actually a pretty big dude. He weighs 260 lbs and Is 6'6, which Is pretty damn big. Barkley Is around 6'2 at 230 so I don't think he would have any problems In the pocket, as far as seeing goes. But I really don't care about size when It comes to Matt Barkley. What I actually care about Is that he's from USC. So he's pretty much destined to be a Bust, along with the other QB's that have come out of USC and failed miserably.
Which Is why I think the Browns should draft Logan Thomas out of Virgina Tech In the 2013 draft. Love the size he brings to the pocket, and I love the fact that he's not from USC. And even though I've never seen him play, I can only imagine how good his arm really Is, because most big QB's do have one hell of a arm, (Big Ben, Newton, Flacco) so I would imagine Thomas would to, and I would also imagine that he actually knows how to use It, seeing that he's on Mel Kiper's top 5 2013 draft prospects listed at #2.
But of course Barkley Is going to be #1, he's overrated. But besides the whole QB thing, I think the Browns should just use the rest of the draft on a receiver and some Linebackers and Corners. Maybe a Tight End to but who knows.
ummm...neither?
first, Logan thomas has looked horrible this year. Just dreadful. Was terrible for three quarters against georgia tech and then played one of the worst games I've ever seen a qb play against Pitt. Although logan thomas is big, he really doesn't have a cannon arm. And calling his accuracy questionable is generous. I'd be shocked if kiper keeps him so high after he progresses through the season after those early performances. Also, when thomas did have some success last year recievers were literally open by 5 yards....
As for barkley, he's not 6'2. he's more like 6'0. I think barkley's talent as a good nfl starting qb is very questionable.

Well At Least I Can Make Some $ Off Of Our Team....After the first three games, it's clear we are not moving forward.
As frustrating as this is, at least I'll make a little coin as consolation.
The ravens are 12 pt favorites tonight. In baltimore, with that offense and those playmakers on offense against our hapless
defense, they'll cover that easily.
The ravens defense has been pretty leaky at times in the first three weeks, giving up a ton of yards and failing to get any pressure on the qb. They are getting older on defense and missing suggs makes a difference. So the browns, as dreadful as weeden is, may actually move the ball a bit and score some.
But I'm playing the ravens and giving the 12 pts. Will be rooting for the browns of course, but at least after the beatdown I'll make a little cash. And hopefully one more beatdown means we are closer to a complete overhaul in every single way of this organization.

How About That Browns Optimism?the troll that started this thread is just a plain bitch. STFU already.
if we're not the youngest team in this league we gotta be the second. what were you expecting this year? the fucking super bowl?
sure there is a lot to complain about. but when you started this thread there was still an hour left in the game, what the fuck is that about?
this team is a long way off from being playoff bound. weeden looks great at times then he throws an interception to seal the game for the other team. he's a rookie. he'll do that. hell jay cutler still does that.
the things i am upset about are all on the off side of the ball. where is this beast TR? really? getting arm tackled by one guy? i thought he was supposed to be able to mow down opposition's defenders? #3 pick? no. the play calling still sucks, even though it's better this year than in the past. when are they going to put together some packages to highlight cameron jordan? where was gordon? little makes a catch and does his usain bolt diva pose again and then drops a critical 3rd conversion that was right in his hands. we need some SERIOUS talent.
but to say there is no optimism is just stoopid. there are things to be happy about. the defense didn't just collapse and sheard continues to be a bright spot.
if there is optimism, it is misplaced.
1) the browns arent rebuilding. They've been "rebuilding" for a long time now. Anytime some browns fan says "well this is rebuilding mode" I want to puke. All I hear is how we are always rebuilding with young guys. Obviously, in this constant cycle of sucking, if we are always "starting to rebuild", there are very clear periods where the prior rebuilding project is over. We never hear about those.....hmmm....
2) This team isn't young in the sense that we don't have lots of good young players. I have no doubt richardson will be a nice back. Whoo f'ing hoo....a running back to build a team around!! Fabulous, maybe we can join Jacksonville in that regard!
-
How About That Browns Optimism? It's hard to be optimistic when you're team has been a perennial bottom feeder for 15 years. However, while these kids still technically suck as a team, there's some flashes there that haven't been for a while. I'll feel more optimistic when JH3 takes over and these young kids get a whole NFL season under their belts. 2013 here we come.
what flashes? Weeden is dreadful. Clearly not a playmaker. The defense lacks young playmakers.
We are as bad as we ever were.
-
How About That Browns Optimism?I was on all those in this forum who last week were suddenly optimistic, pointing out that a non-close loss to a mediocre team is *not* a good thing, or a reason for optimism.
This week, weeden looks terrible again as he clearly is not a small window nfl thrower. Cut bait with him asap.
If I were the browns owner, I would fire every single person involved with this organization except a handful of players(mostly the non-weeden guys we committed a lot of guaranteed money to) and start from scratch.
this is, once again, one of the worst teams in the nfl. And with brandon weeden at qb it's not going to improve much.
-
Here To Talk Bills-BrownsJust your Bills fan dropping by to learn a bit about your team, I have not watched them yet this year but seen some close scores. I have DVRed the games to look at them this week as I see how the Bills match up, but what better source of info than from the fans.
Hopefully a good week of football discussion followed by a Bills Win.
I know normally a Dick Jauron Defense plays bend but dont break, and soft in the backend, (actually soft all the way around from his time with the Bills)... But that is neither here or there.
well, not much to say....0-2 is 0-2. The first week we at least *could* have won the game, and it was against a team many think will win 10 games or more. The second week we go out and lose fairly easily to a team that will be lucky to finish .500.
The bills best chance to win this game is for fitzpatrick to make big plays down the field through the air. Yes I know he isnt very good but this is the nfl....thats how you win games. And our secondary can give it up.
-
What's With All The Optimism?Im sure you enjoyed last years prolific offense that Colt McFrye led right? All those 10 and 12 point totals.
Some people will find anything to bitch about..
ummm...I hardly think a fairly convincing loss to a mediocre team is an unrealistic thing to 'bitch about'.
And no, the browns under colt mccoy were not good either. In fact he sucked/sucks. I have no interest in getting into a colt/weeden debate because I will freely admit they both suck. Trying to figure out which one sucks more is a meaningless exercise.
-
What's With All The Optimism?A mediocre football team that was in the playoffs last year and is being picked by a lot of people to be in the playoffs again this year. I'd rather see a win but considering how shitty we have looked for years, it was an entertaining game and we actually have some playmakers on this team.
no, they are not generally thought of as a playoff team this year. After week 1 there o/u for wins was 7.5.....that's not the o/u of a playoff team.
They are generally thought of as an average at best team.
