    Team Detractor??

Look, Bake is the man going forward. He's the starter in 2022 and he'll be playing for a contract next year, 2023 would be the year we would move on from him if we do ... so why you are all being obsessed with his status right now is strange to me.

With a full week of practice I think we'll put together a nice game plan for Pittsburgh and succeed... Baker included. Then the Bungles come to town, and Baker owns them.

    Z

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.. Whatever Z. Baker rightfully apologized for his shitty play against the Packers. Better pray that was just rust. Vagitron has been scarce around here of late, but expect the Sqealers to be pumped up to send Big Ben off into the sunset with his last home win.

Should the Bengals manage to beat the Chiefs Sunday, we're just going to be playing for pride Monday night. Don't forget that little factoid.

And as to "owning" the Bengals,  maybe you've missed on how they've been playing of late. See any of those highlights where they totally demolished the Ravens?  FWIW, Harbaugh was sort of bitching that the Bengals were running up the score.

Finally,  said it elsewhere. Baker being gift wrapped the starters job in 2022 will be largely dependent on how well (or not) he plays in these last two games. A final record of 7-10, and I expect some QB shopping to occur in the off season.

Uh... Did you miss the fact that the Ravens where playing with their 9th string CB's?

Oh and Josh Johnson and whatever was left of the Ravens after COVID still put 21 points up

  • The Bengals have a better QB and perimeter weapons.

The Browns have a better running game, TE group and Oline.

It all depends on the IDL availability and health for both teams.  If the Brownies can keep up the rushing attack against a beat up Bengals interior, then we're solid and a win is very possible.

If not? Then it's going to be rough as hell to deal with should Cincy get away from their man coverages looks and throw something new at Baker.

Honestly, how does anyone know that Baker isn't on his 2nd/3rd read when a first read wr finally gets open?

Because if you've paid ANY attention to the work I've done and spelled out on this forum, you'd see that I've shown receivers (not just TE's) get open rather routinely and Baker misses them.

10th post down on the last page is the clutch example from the first Pittsburgh game.

It's right there, pictures and everything with my diagraming of both the routes and the defense.

How does ANYONE know? Because when you invest the time to seek the answers, you tend to find them.

I know there are examples. but it does not show who was the target of the first read. You, I think, are assuming that any wr/te that gets open is a primary read?

I"m saying that the Browns do not have a wr on the roster that is explosive enough to beat man coverage, or get open quickly. Like I said, I saw Barthslisbooger completely not see a WIDE OPEN wr/te? iin the end zone vs the Browns.

It freaking happens. Sure, if you have the receivers the Bengals have, and one or the other gets open immediately, it's an easy read.

But the first example you listed showed Landry NOT OPEN. He finally did get open across the middle. I don't know what reads were in progression. Maybe it would be Peoples-Jones, or a TE.

I believe you can find times where every qb doesn't see an open receiver. I was watching a bucs game, (lost another dollar), and the guys doing the broadcasting were commenting on Brady not seeing a guy who came wide open. And he has Godwin and Evans and Gronk !

But don't take my word for it - Hasselbeck, former NFL QB, said it. So, yes, that was 2016. How many years had Brady been in the league?

    I said it happens.

Tim Hasselbeck: Tom Brady Made 'Inexcusable' Error On ...

Another look at the play shows Gronkowski was pretty wide open, and the right read for Brady would have been to lead his tight end into open space rather than force a pass into tight coverage ...

Here is a couple "factiods" for you Larry:

    1. Baltimore was missing 25 players. Shut up, and let that sink in.

    2. As for owning the Bungles, we've won 6 of 7 contests in the Baker era, Baker is 3-0 versus Burrow, and the Browns have scored 113 points against the Bungle defense in those games, including a 41-16 bashing last month. I'm pretty sure you didn't miss that one.

How do you get gift wrapped the job that is already yours?

He's on year five of his staerting QB contract next year, you can hope and pray he fails, but I think you're going to be highly disappointed.

    Yep

See hoorta's post above yours here. Cincy is about to own the Browns. And even though I might give the edge to us against Pitt normally, not in Big Ben's last home game ever. That team will play with their hair on fire to let him go out a winner against the Browns, a team that right now does not resemble the Mauling Chiefs that just killed them in Arrowhead thanks to a real top notch NFL QB who can win even without Kelce (oh, and find many different receivers all over the field).

    Burrow is terrific.

    He also has:

    Ja'Marr Chase - 2021 FIRST ROUND, #5 pick overall.WR

Tee HIggins - 2020 SECOND ROUND

Tyler Boyd - 2016 SECOND ROUND pick, WR

If Burrow was with the Browns, he'd go through hell

I call that utter bullshit. Our O-line is better, Burrow doesn't have pro bowl running back Nick Chubb.

So what? the Bengals Higgins and Boyd are not one iota better talent wise than our Landy, Higgins,  and the Peoples guy. I'll even toss in their TE Uzomah, as opposed to our Austin Hooper- the guy who at the time we made the highest paid TE in the NFL? Who's got the better stats? Huh? Difference? A quarterback who happens to know when his TE  wide open, uncovered for a gimme touchdown. How many hours you watched the Bengals this year? I'll bet not more than one. And THAT you obdurate WR fixation guy, you seemingly can't get through your thick head. Burrow makes them better, period... Because at this particular point in time, he's orders of magnitudes better than Baker. That's just a damn fact. . And just STOP with the bullshit on high draft picks crap.  Please DON'T make me waste my time looking up what round a bunch of the Steelers All-Pro and HOF wide receivers got drafted in.

He has Joe Fuckin Mixon whose no slouch by any stretch of the imagination...

  • It also helps Burrow that he is 6’4”.
And he came from a college, and a conference that is a lot more like the NFL then the big 12

The big 12 is run and shoot, no defense, wide open receivers playing against no name defensive players

Regarding the bold, you're in denial Z.  It's a what have you done for lately me league. Two more suck performances will change Berry's thinking.

Shit, I'm not hoping he fails... I'm hoping all the dominoes fall perfectly, and the Browns get a home playoff game in about forever.  In that unlikely scenario, I'll even be in the stands- despite the fact I could probably make a quick $1,000 bucks putting them up for sale on Ticketmaster.  Regarding the Bengals... Outlier game, (just like the Lions beating the Cardinals) if the division is on the line? TBD. Let me give you the classic Investment disclaimer... "Past performance is no guarantee of future results."

I agree. Blake Bortles is a nothing QB. The guy has a record of 29-49. While Baker At least is a .500 QB at 29-29

I wouldn’t so easily dismiss nobody coming here

If Watson’s legal troubles go away, the Browns better be in on him

Blake Bortles won a division title and two playoff games, including at Pittsburgh, in 2017, and damn near beat New England in the AFC Championship.

Which kind of proves that beating Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh in the playoffs isn't the end-all some here make it out to be.

    Oh snaps

  • The Baker to Burrow comparison only really holds up depending on something crucial - does anyone believe Burrow would throw the same game-losing turnovers that Baker has this season?

Keep in mind, Baker is about to wrap up his 4th full season as a starter.  And I'd you include Burrow missing 1/4 of last season, Joe is finishing up his first 1.5 years as a starter.   His turnover worthy throws have been cut in half since the start of the season (11 ints first 8 games, 3 since in 7) while Bakers turnover worthy rate has increased.

A hypothetical, but one to ask ourselves.

I'm of the mind that we likely would be +3 in the win category with the fewer turnovers and average play.  At minimum likely beating the Steelers at home and the Ravens on the road.

That is the only comparison which matters in this case.  Since the start of the 2018 season, no QB in the NFL has thrown more ints than Baker.  That is the biggest red flag.

  • Trade for Tua.  Everyone thinks he's a bum.  He throws bad picks early in games, gets pissed and wins.  Miami wants Watson.  A bag of oranges would get Tua.  Those idiots love natural disasters and citrus.

  • No two QB's need a bigger bounce back game than Ben & Baker...

Ben has played his worse 2 games in 2021, that I've seen him play at KC/ vs. Tenn. ... Titans not much better... Ben's been sacked 10 times in his last 3 games..

    @KCKC  23 of 35 = 159 yards

    TENTEN  16 of 25 = 148 yards

( sure sounds like were going to have some real Nervous Nancy's on this board, if Burrow & Lamar lose prior to this game? : - )   Let's Go #6 !

Teams are crowding the line of scrimmage jamming Steeler WRs and bringing pressure up the middle on Ben and essentially challenging the Steeler Oline to hold up and Ben to make throws downfield.  I’ve watched too.

I hope we take note on Monday.

  • I have to laugh at this Baker vs Burrow comparison.  Maybe the NFL makes adjustments to Burrow and he has to adapt/adjust and prove himself but he doesn’t have the same flaws we all talk about with Baker. Right now the comparison is Maserati vs Honda.  The Honda is cool if you had a 1998 Pontiac Aztec the past couple decades.

And Burrow would love to have the time he would get behind this line (he’d be better with it). And he has some young WRs that don’t always run the routes correctly (heck see our game Chase is not even close to having any polish in his routes).

You saw the same games I did... Well done!

I really hope our best physical corner is back in Greg Newsome.. We can't let Claypool just get free runs off the LOS...hit this punk cleanly on every snap..
