With Sampson being drafted to the same team as Judkins, are any of you worried there’s some weird hair envy shit going on?
Sampson has good hair, don’t get me wrong, but if you compare it to Judkin’s hair game? That’s some tough shit to compete with.
And you know, Sampson, hair, bible, that whole thing. I think this is going to motivate Sampson.

Judkins still hasn't signed yet, btw.

Yes. That is a little troubling isn't it. From what I've read, the guy picked right before him (35th) isn't signed either. A theory is that Judkins is waiting to see if that guy gets guaranteed money, or an airplane, or somethin'.

Thank God they gotta wear helmets! Sampson's hair looks like the fur on my dad's dumb poodle that used to lift his leg on the electric socket. Meanwhile, Judkins looks like he woke up on the wrong end of a fraternity or football camp prank.
Truth be told, it duddn't really matter what their hair looks like as long as they have a solid football IQ inside their domes.

Good points on the running game with Kosar as a rook. Assuming guys stay healthy, we may not have two 1000 yard rushers this season but I think we will average similar YPG totals on the ground this year. It's hard to predict how those numbers spread out...Judkins around 1200, Sampson around 600 and Ford for maybe 400?
Add in that it is a different game now. I don't know how many combined rushing yards Kosar and Danielson might have had, but it couldn't be much. I assume it was some positive number. Flacco isn't going to do anything on the ground, but both Pickett and Gabriel can actually run with some authority and Sanders can at least move.
I don't think last seasons O line was indicative of what the line can do in the running game. As for offensive coaches being let go, I am sure we will see some change, but I think the team is high on Rees. I don't think he will go anywhere unless we are historically bad and it can be mostly attributed to him. Some of the other O coaches are up for evaluation and discussion.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Ford with more receiving yards than rushing. I sort of expect it.

So do I. I put Ford with a ? knowing he was probably going to be in more of a pass catching role, but he will end up in the 2nd back role at points during the season even under the best circumstances.
400 yards would be something like 23 yards a game on average. If he gets much more he will have to breaks off several long runs on his limited chances or he will have to play a lot more as the 2nd back than we hope.
Ford is pretty good once he is in some space. His problem is he gets gummed up getting through the line untouched. Putting him as a 3rd down back should get him in to better positions to show his stuff.

Thanks for that. I'll be at several camps this year, excited to share what I find.

I look at it more as his contributions in pass pro and the screen game. He'll absolutely be pushed by every RB on this roster in terms of being a ball carrier. I'm including that kid from Appy State too in my assessment.
The downside is that he isn't elite in short space to take progression passes and break ankles for first downs. So his role is limited to pass pro, check down (maybe get yac) and then the screen game.
Unless his vision and mind have taken 2 steps forward this off-season, his struggles in manipulating blocks, anticipating lateral displacement and pacing make him a RB with a limited skill set in a league that isn't RB friendly.

I'd say maybe on that. While Judkins will get the majority of carries between the two, I don't see him given the rock 300 times. Sampson is still going to get plenty of carries. I see a split somewhere along the lines of 60/40...maybe not even that great.
They view Sampson as the pass-catching RB ( now). Of course that could change.

Bob, the link isn't working.
Ok, sorry. Here's a clip & paste from a website called Roto Baller

Cleveland Browns rookie fourth-round running back Dylan Sampson received work "as a running back and a receiver" during minicamp, according to RBs coach Duce Staley. Staley went on to add that Sampson "is able to go play in the slot and also he's able to go and play on third down and maybe sprinkle in a little second down." The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Dan Labbe thinks that heading into training camp, rookies Quinshon Judkins and Sampson figure to be the top two backs, with Jerome Ford serving as the primary third-down back. The 20-year-old Sampson rushed for 1,491 yards and 22 touchdowns (5.8 yards per carry) in 2024 at Tennessee, but he wasn't all that involved as a pass-catcher. He's a speedy back that could be worth a dart throw in deep PPR formats, but most likely he'll be an inconsistent fantasy performer unless Judkins misses time with an injury.--Keith
