  • I'm getting exhausted with the continued failure and injuries with this team.. I'm really considering finding something else to do with my Sundays rather than suffer with the bullshit that just hangs around this teams neck like an albatross... Since Art took it away... It hasn't been anything remotely like the Cleveland Browns pre-expansion version... We have crap ownership that just decided to take tail gaiting away (at new venue)... A GM who can't draft football players to save his soul and a baseball dude who lives and dies by his laptop... Something has to give man...

-Starting DL is Myles, McGuire, Collins and Graham. The rookie has a quick first step, heavy hands and great pad level. I expect to see flashes of his potential throughout the season alongwith rookie Show more

    QB's.
    - Sans Kenny Picket, Sanders is QB2 and he's closer to being the #1 than the #3.

    - I admire Dillon Gabriel's passion and hard work. But his physical limitations are obvious. He missed two reads over the middle Show more

Dawand Jones grabbing hold of the LT spot for the rest of the decade would be fantastic.

I still can’t wrap my head around why the Browns took Dillon Gabriel in Rd 3. I’d rather had Will Howard in the 6th.

  • We all knew it was coming, Emerson is officially done for the year with a torn achilles.

Looking at our depth chart at CB besides Ward, it does not look good: Chigozie Anusiem, Tony Brown II, Anthony Kendall, NIk Needham, Cameron Mitchell.

I don't think we want Chigozie or Tony Brown II chasing around Tee Higgins. If Denzel were to get injured, we will be giving up 350+ passing yards a game.  I think it is a must at this point to go sign a veteran free agent CB.

Yup.  And you know Ward will be hurt at some point.  With all of his concussions he should've already retired.

agree with Dutch as I was thinking the same thing. why did they waste a 3rd on Dillon ?

  • They could slide Newsome from the slot back to outside, but then we need someone at the nickel role. Either way, I think a signing is incoming.

If he was healthy, Asante Samuel Jr. would be the guy I would want. I'm reading conflicting reports on his health. They could sign someone like Stephon Gilmore to a one year deal.

  • Brownies are in nickel and big nickel the bulk of the time.  I wonder how much of this is solved by having Damontae Kazee or Delpit as the nickel DB and playing more 2 deep zones behind it.

Dillon is worth a pick - but a day 3 one.  Early assessment is not great in terms of draft capital spent.

And I heard/read someone from the Browns said something along the lines of:

"We grabbed Dillon in the 3rd because it was apparent he wasn't going to last much longer"

Then let another team make the stupid move, dipshits.

    "Glittering prizes"

I believe there's a certain amount of over or under valuation through proximity with prospects at time.

A group think, so to speak.    Whether that other teams valuation of said prospect was legit or smoke screen.

You can call them dipshits.  And you might be right in doing so.  But it was their plan to draft him.  They had him ranked as the #2 QB in the draft.  They got into the 3rd round and decided to nab their QB and not have to think about that position again until next year's draft.  Then, of course, Saturday happened.

I notice you've mentioned this a few times.  I don't believe anyone is denying the Browns had a draft plan/strategy.  I also don't see anyone begrudging them for having a plan in place either.

However comma just having a plan doesn't make it ....not.....retarded.

You can compliment the front office and how they stuck to their strategy. Bravo.   But it was a questionable strategy.  I rarely bury anyone before they're dead, but Dillon had some serious struggles in camp that are a direct result of him being small for the QB position.

But the Browns figured, hey, Russell Wilson was drafted in the 3rd round, why not this one?  Because that's the extent of the logic I can find when I popped on film from Oregon.

The Weezy effect.  Wilson and Brees gave people a belief that height can be a rule, not an exception.

Which is why I said to Dutch that he could call them dipshits if he wanted...and that he might be right.

I wouldn't have drafted Gabriel.  Because I don't like little QB's.  But when Stef & Berry were watching tape of him they kept asking each other, Where does his height come into play negatively?   So they didn't see his size being a problem with him.

As a draft unfolds, your draft plan may need to be tweaked.  We talk about them drafting 2 QB's as not being part of the plan because Sanders fell to round 5.  But does anyone think that they went into the draft planning on drafting 2 RB's?  I think that when they saw Sampson available in round 4 they shifted gears and grabbed him because he was appraised at a higher value and they were revamping the RB position anyway.

I wouldn't have drafted a midget QB.  But his numbers were right up there with the higher rated QB's in the draft class.

    What did you get?

    ...I know you weren't asking me...but...  🙂

Last month I sold my Mercedes to CarMax.  Then bought a new Mazda CX-5.  Premium Plus trim so I could have the Heads Up Display, Adaptive Headlight and heated rear seats.  But I've spent most of today getting a couple of coats of Zaino Show Car Polish on the Vette and it's wheels.  🙂   I'm on (another) break.  I've still gotta go around it with a spray & wipe of Z6 and then a spray & wipe of Grand Finale.

When you add the Michelin CrossClimate2's to the CX5, it holds the road like an entirely different car.  Obviously no Vette, but the OEM's are weak sauce compared to the CrossClimate2's.  I have a 2020 CX5 with the turbo [same engine as the 2025] and just put my second pair of crossclimates on.  That tire is the top performer in all weather, not just snow&rain.  Tirerack ratings are occasionally correct.

Tia, am I too early in calling McGuire finally the bookend opposite MG that makes DL the top strength of the team?

I wouldn't say "bookend".  This isn't Freeney and Mathis 2.0.   But I see McGuire as a solid compliment.  I'm every bit, if not more interested in seeing what Graham, Hall and possibly Kamara bring to the interior rush.

If the whole thing gets going, then they'll be the top unit of the team.  (Still worried about Collins as a starter though)
