Ravens score 50 on us Mangini won't be here next week.....you read it here

I've said this before, it happened in NY. They were winning and he still put him though hell. As for J Lew, he has an argument if they were winning.

Negative. J Lewis, still has an argument buddy.

There is a difference between working hard and working smart. You can work hard all you want but it need not necessarily translate into success cos the opposition has u figured out and know how to stop you. Or you can work smart by designing intelligent plays (dont ask DA to throw the ball on a 4th and 1 OC) and practice on that.

I will attribute the the way we lose more to the horrid play calling and decision making more than on the talent or the hard work of the roster.

Ok say your right, that is more affirmation that the team is quitting on Mangini.

  • the one thing that sticks out is that he is a captain, but instead of taking it to Mangini takes it to the media?

What happened to trying to deal with problems in house, up throught he chain of command before going outside.

Regardless of his offseason regimen, he's washed up and whiney. I'd bench him for the season, especially against his old team the Ravens.

He doesn't want to be here, anyhow.

True. He is showing a definite LACK of leadership and professionalism by not acting like a captain.

Maybe that is why he is speaking up. The players elected him to say something about the situation. Not good any way you slice it.

Mangini would have surely helped his cause had he gotten himself a new OC. I dont understand the faith that Mangini has got in Daboll after witnessing such putrid offense. And being part of that offense does not help any of the team members. Anyways, Lets hope for the best.

Where are you going to find one in October?

  • How much money will Lewis get is he is released compared to if he retires?

Maybe he is trying to get more.

Mike Martz is still available to interview, i remember 2 OCs that were fired before the season began .... point is Daboll is terrible.

You aren't going to implement Mike Martz's offensive system now....much less anyone else's. Mike Martz's system doesn't work if you don't have the talent. Look at his results with QBs not named "Warner" and without HOF caliber talent. Did he make the 49ers into winners?

His time with the 49ers and the Lions had them playing decent offensive football. Sure they lost but it was not bad losses. Sure, im not saying that changing the OC now is going to help us win, but the playcalling has been so horrible that it will not make a difference. Atleast next year, we can hope for an improvement ...

Fair enough BI, but no one has said that Daboll's future is safe. He's already getting somewhat of a demotion with the QB coach taking a more active role.

I don't have a problem with the criticism of Daboll but I will point out a minor point with respect to a previous first time coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer. Schotty was criticised horribly since taking over the Jets offense three plus years ago. He's grown into that role but the point I want to make is that I thought that the criticism of the playcalling in NY was unfair. You can't go deep on every play and sometimes you have to impose your will on the defense even when they know what's coming. Coaches need players to make plays.

When receivers drop balls or running backs fumble, it doesn't matter what the play call was. They were in position to make a play and they didn't.

To quote Hank Hill re: the Cowboys: "All Troy can do is get it there..."

  • This whole thing translates to "I want Romeo back. He let us practice on the couch in from of the lates version of Madden!"

Get this crybaby out of here. What has he really done for this team this year anyway!? The Browns need WINNERS...not WHINERS! Jamal, you WERE a great running back. When you WERE that running back, you could have complained like this and it may have actually meant something. But you've lost it. Your complaints mean nothing. You can't learn to hit a hole hard if guys are not wearing pads! You bitch about having to work 2 1/2 to 3 hours in a single day? Try my schedule...at least 8 hours a day and some days I leave my house at 7:30 in the morning and don't get home until midnight! Try having to work 2-3 jobs to pay your bills. Quit complaining about getting to play a game for a living! I'll trade you places in a heartbeat. And I'd be willing to bet that I could gain 2 yards a carry too. But I wouldn't bitch about it!

I'm sick of players complaining about having to "work too hard." Give me a break! I wish I got to work that hard!

  • maybe Lewis want's money that he would get if released but not if he retired.

    B. Schotty has been around a lot of good headcoaches and grown into the job, His playcalling is still conservative (for which he gets criticized) and he is still not the best OC for the Jets. Daboll needs way more experience before getting this stint. Also to Schottys advantage he is working with Bill Calahan who is there to guide him. Daboll has no one to do that.

You are right about the WR's/TE's dropping the ball, i thought it was goners after BE left but nopes !! im still confused about that one.

If "conservative" leads to the AFC's leading rusher then I'd be all for it.

Well ... expect him to be released now .. followed by a press conference citing "diminishing skills"

    Zombo

I think that's what he wants. Some other team will sign him and pay him the small amount he is owed; probably Baltimore so he can retire there. He seems to be conducting himself like a guy who wants to be cut. I like Jamal but at this point in his career, I can't blame him for not wanting to play for a team that is rebuilding. He is a likely HOFer why would he want his career to end like this?

  • @brownindian said:

i think a 10 year veteran with a super bowl would know more about how much and how well to practice than the fans here. I have never heard anyone complaining about Jamal Lewis work ethics.

Sounds like an old man that cant go through the grind of the NFL anymore. Maybe he should of retired last year. The Ravens offense wasnt exactly steller when he was there, maybe they did need to practice more. I can see giving a older player like Jamal more rest, but you dont go through the media and complain to get it. Lewis said Mangini has a open door policy, but he chose not to go that route. Honestly do you really think 2 1/2 hrs a day with pads is really to much to ask. This seems like Jamal's looking for a way out to me.

Yeah, except the comment is coming from a player that is known around the league for his dedication to practice and conditioning. He had young players come to his home in the offseason just to go through his program. Now if a player that has one of the most intense workout ethics in the league is saying practice is too much, it might be too much. Maybe mangini should strap on some pads and go through his own practices, I bet there would be some "adjustments to the program" after that.

    Let's think about this logically.

These guys are paid tons of money to do something that we would all do for a lot less money! Hell, kids play the same game day after day in back yards and schoolyards all over the world. These are grown men complaining about having to practice hard to play a game that makes them very wealthy! Sorry...I don't sympathize. Especially when it comes to a team with a 1-7 record and finished last season with a 4-12 record and whose offense is being outscored by the Saints defense by 2 touchdowns! You don't get better by practicing lightly! If you want to practice lightly, then take up a different sport or start winning! Jamal can be known for his workout ethics. His personal workouts are his choice and I give him credit for it. But, his job requires hard practices. Deal with it or retire now!

And...I think it's hilarious that he is bitching now...after a BYE WEEK! And, as someone already stated, he wouldn't be complaining if we were winning.
