  • Here ya go. Im all for giving ginn a second chance to see if he can turn things around if it costs us a 5th rounder or less but here are some good reasons why the phins have all but given up on him as a receiver for them. He is like their braylon edwards when it comes to the big time dropsies minus the charactar issues. Seen enough of this with braylon. Funny Video with fitting song though!

Hello, McFly, is anybody home? You ain't putting Ginn in to be your clutch third down "hands" receiver. He is in to be your home run hitter. He is your Jim Thome, not your Omar Vizquel. Yea, he needs to hit a few more homers, and strike out a few less times, but he has something you can't coach: blazing speed. Something the Browns do need.

Gips i like you brother but hello mcfly yourself, you havent obviously been reading all the posts that led up to that. I know he is not a slot reciever. Other posts on here before my post were stating that he could come here and be our slot guy. I was stating why he would make a bad slot reciever, Gips im on the same page with ya but hello brother are you home? Thats exactly what i was saying i never said that he would be our slot reciever or make a good slot reciever, come on man. Anyhow we could use some speed at the reciever posistion but not with ginn, we can do a lot better. Ginn doesnt scare anybody. The dolphins didnt even use him as a home run threat last year and they didnt have a great recieving core to begin with. By the end of the year bess, camarillo, and hartline, yes hartline were all playing over him. Now that the phins have marshall too he has become their 5th best reciever. We can do a lot better if we are looking for speed. Speed that can also catch would be nice.

    1. First off, I am The Gipper. There is another "patron" (using The Masters required terminology) here who calls himself "Gips". So as not to confuse best to keep me as The Gipper.

    2. Maybe I did mix up your post with another....but apparently we can both agree that Ginn would not be a slot receiver.

    3. As for Ginn not scaring anybody....I would beg to differ. The guy does have blazing speed, and that should be "scary" enough. We don't have anyone on this team with that kind of speed. You say we can do better if we are looking for speed. I say: Where? Who is out there either in the draft or in trade or as a FA who has his kind of speed? I certainly would like to know....and you might want to tell the Browns about it as well.

    4. We can agree that Ginn has not been productive enough in his career. You said the Dolphins didn't use him as their home run hitter. I would say that is certainly on the Dolphins shoulders and perhaps they have misused or miscoached him. Perhaps. You say that he needs to catch as well. I agree. I don't know why he hasn't "caught". He caught in college. He showed flashes of brilliance. Perhaps he has had some Braylonitis. That disease is hopefully curable....to the point that I still think it is worth an effort to get him at a low price.

If it weren't for the character issues, Edwards may still be here. After he apparently sucker punched a guy a foot shorter than him is when Randy Lerner said he had enough of him and his act.

He has never been a WR, good return guy in college...that's about it

He actually had good WR stats in college.

He did have good stats, but i attributed that to the long ball and outrunning coverage, I never saw him meet the ball at it's highest point or break in and out of cuts the way a WR should

I think he's an unbelievable athlete just not a WR, imo

Funny thing is, if you recall, he came to Ohio State more renowned as a defensive back than as a WR.

(though he might have been like Deion and hated to actually make a tackle. Hard to say. Perhaps a switch in position is in order for him? Hell, we had WR Mike Furrey playing safety for us last year.)

  • I think the kid switched from D to offense because of ball skills and he is a bit frail to be making tackles.

His legs look like ink pens.

  • Lol, if you thought Braylon was bad w/r/t drops, you'll just LOVE Ginn...

  • He's a Niner now so the point has become moot

edit: traded for a 5th round pick

If you were told that you would draft a WR in the 5th round, and you’d get 36 catches for 460 yards a season, you’d be ecstatic.

  • And if I drafted him in the 1st rd, I would be looking for work.

  • Damn we missed out, that would have been a great pick up for a 5th

  • And if I drafted him in the 1st rd, I would be looking for work.

And so just because he doesn't produce as well as a 1st rounder should, and he was originally picked in the 1st round, he isn’t worth a 5th rounder, even though he outproduced what you’d expect from a 5th rounder?

    Dude, you make no sense.

actually, he makes perfect sense. if i work as a buyer for my company, and i buy a high end product that turns out to suck, i would be out of a job. there was a lot of money invested in ginn and very little return on investment.

But the statement was made in response to whether he was worth a 5th round pick or not.

He clearly was a steal for the 49ers for a 5th rounder.

How does whether Parcells/Irleland making a poor pick and be worth getting fired over have anything to do with his worth as a 5th rounder?

that's a hole other discussion. i wasn't commenting on the 5th round aspect of it. a 5th round pick is decent for a guy with stats like ginn. however, we still don't know how he will produce. it's still possible that it would be the wrong choice to get rid of a 5th rounder for him. probably not though.

But that's what we were discussing. Not that the pick as a 1st rounder was bad.

  • were taking Dez Bryant theres no other way to explain why we wouldnt do this trade. Holmgren said we need to add a receiver, he said this WR class is pretty weak in depth, he backed off on character issues saying he can work with some guys, and now we dont get Ginn for a 5th.

With the 7th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, The Cleveland Browns select.....Dez Bryant

That is not going to happen.

We will take a Berry (I hope not—although I am starting to warm up to the idea), Haden (this is my pick if we stay at #7), or trade back for Odrick.
