    Is this more sarcasm? Clausen?

  • You just have to love the way Haden tackles. VERY solid fundamentals. Maybe he should run the tackling drills.

What surprised me was when I saw a "box" of the game & he had 4 tackles, 1 assist, & an int. I would have SWORN he had more tackles, but whatever the count, he had a great game.

Me and my roommate said the same thing to each other. We were so sure that he had more tackles that we actually checked both espn and nfl.com. If you think about it though his guy wasn't catching balls because he was either knocking them out of the air of just straight out catching them. He had one special team tackle and the rest were him taking out Browns/Williams legs on the outside run.

That's the thread I was looking for! All's quite in camp shep now....finally.

Kid shows up....balls skills AND can tackle. Take note EW....this is how u play the position.

  • He looked great today but i wouldn't give him too much props for the pick. He was toast on that play and Henne just threw a terrible ball. 90% of NFL QBs throw a TD there. Other than that the kid was outstanding.

Capitalizing on the opponents mistakes counts as props to me, if wright or elam were covering there instead of haden it would have been 6 points or at best a lucky bat down..

Yep being a little lucky and both opportunistic and capable of seizing the moment count to me! 😉

  • i'm very happy with joes progress, but let's not put him in the pro bowl yet. he got beat on his interception. he just got lucky that henne under threw it.

  • The kid has been coming along great. He's got great instincts and if he does make a mistake he's got some wheels that really help make up for it. He's super athletic and I'm glad we took him at that spot in the draft. Imagine our defense without him and you'll agree.

Elam had another int today. Don't hate on Kent State!

Kent State puts out a very impressive number of good NFL players (or just NFL players in general) compared to other MAC schools. I go to BG and I can't think of anyone who played here that is currently in the NFL. I was kind of hoping the Freddie Barnes panned out with the Bears but he was on the final cut in training camp and the Center that was drafted from here a few years ago as far as I know doesn't play for anyone anymore.

Besides Cribbs, Harrison, and Elam from Kent I can also think of the short white guy from the Patriots names Woodhead.

Don't forget Antonio Gates in San Diego

  • Usama Young with the Saints too.

And Lichtensteiger is playing for the Redskins, I believe starting. My math teacher in high school coached Cory Lichtensteiger a few years before he came to my school. I also go to BG, so I focus on this stuff as well.

    Not Woodhead, Edelman.

  • I am a little suprised at the Elam hate still going on. Dude has played really well the last half dozen or so games

Shaun Suisham (kicker) went to BGSU. He played with Dallas for awhile and is doing well for the Steelers. Also, the Chargers center Scott Murkowski played at BGSU. Those are the only two I can think of who are still in the league.

  • Finally a high draft pick on Defense is actually working out.

  • i'm very happy with joes progress, but let's not put him in the pro bowl yet. he got beat on his interception. he just got lucky that henne under threw it.

He did get lucky that Henne played poorly but he was able to recover and make a play when it was presented to him.

That was the difference between him and the Miami corner who was gift-wrapped a pick six by Delhomme in the final minutes and dropped it.

  • I disagree that Haden got lucky on his interception. Sure, it appeared he was beat just because Hartline had a few steps on him. But, in order for Henne to hit Hartline in full stride it would have needed to be a 60 yard pass atleast.

Haden bit on Hartline's fake because he didn't believe Henne could hit Hartline in full stride. He dared Henne to have to make an all-world type throw, and Henne couldn't make it. It was a gamble, but a smart and savvy one IMO.

Yeah, talk about bad hands! Jake should have yelled to him "Sorry, I didn't mean to hit you in the hands!" ... That guy must have felt like a DICK after the game.

I know you are just saying this tongue in cheek about Clausen... and half-serious about Bryant... but Bryant just blew out his ankle and who knows how he will recover.

Oh, and hurry back Colt McCoy.

I agree, however Jake did play pretty decent today and we got our 2nd straight win out of him. Oh, and JOE FREAKIN' HADEN! 😎

We didn't win because of Jake. We won in spite of Jake.

I do like how he is including Robo, though. But I've never seen a QB take so long to throw to a checkdown receiver. The only exception is Roethlisberger, and at least he's shrugging off tackles and extending plays. Jake just sits in the pocket and waits. And waits. And waits. And waits. And throws to Hillis.

Is it because our receivers can't get seperation? Probably. Is it because the playcalling is predictable and bland? Maybe. Is it because we lack a legitimate deep threat? Of course.

At least with Colt, the defense had to respect his scrambling ability. Which helped the receivers out.

  • Man, I just looked at the stats, Haden is tied for 4th in the NFL with 5 picks, and he 3 starts under his belt, and tied with fellow rookie Devin McCourty for first in the AFC. McCourty has started all 11 games this year. Third in the NFL in passes defended and first in the AFC. It isnt like he has a ton of tackles either, which shows he isnt necessarily being targeted.

    Good work Joe Haden.

Is it bad that I am greedy and want Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara to pair with him? I want AJ Green but that would be a nasty CB combo for years to come.
