Holmgren picked this team, But I don't see him coachng again, and that sucks

Cowher would be great, but I think he's done. He doesn't want to disrespect the Rooney's. Which is fine. He's not coaching the Browns

Reid is done in Philly (if they don't win it all). so he will be available, but I think he will rest for awhile, like Gruden and Cowher

Haslem and Fullmer are TIGHT. But we have seen that college crap before ( BUTCH )

Saban is interesting. He has DOMINATED college....... TWICE!!!!!!! Is he willing to try the NFL again?

Mariucci would have been the choice in 2006. but now I'm not sure. He seems to LOVE the NFL network

    That leaves Gruden and Billick

Can anyone honestly say Billick wasn't the LUCKIEST coach ever? He ran into Ozzie picking the players, Ray Ray NOT getting arrested, and Dilfer ACTUALLY playing A decent game in the Superbowl.

and he never did ANYTHING before or after

I WANT GRUDEN. He is from here (which doesn't really matter, but it does to the fans) he has won in TB and OAK (with AL davis) not easy in either place. He and Jimmy could be a GREAT combo for YEARS

Oh wait I forgot Schurmur. THE ONLY WAY HE STAYS HERE IS THE BROWNS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR. He's as good as dead-man-walking.

I like Mike Zimmer DC of the Bengals. He is young, has plenty of experience as DC and his defenses have consistently been great and also we will be getting a coach who knows our division and also we can weaken our opponent.

The Browns have tried, retread loser NFL coaches, (Mangini) the "HOT" assistant, (Shurmur, Palmer, Romeo) a college coach, (Butch),

Can we try a "PROVEN" NFL Head coach?

When was Shurmur ever a hot assistant? lol

I agree with the point some people have made before on these boards in that some of these guys like Cowher,Gruden etc. have lost their fire.

Honestly I think Gruden is a bit overrated anyhow, he won the Superbowl with Dungy's team.

I would rather us get our own guy who is hungry and ready to make a name for himself rather than trying to latch onto some has been.

Just please let it be some guy with passion and an attitude , not one of these dull mr. nice guy pussies we always hire.

Mangini was about the only guy we hired who actually had us playing some tough football, maybe part of that was Rob Ryan you got to love his enthusiasm.

I'm still liking the O-Line guys and O-coordinator from Houston.

They know the zone blocking running scheme from Alex Gibbs,Gary Kubiak that turns every running back into a pro-bowler and it would fit like a glove with Richardson.

Tough football doesn't win anymore............. The last "TOUGH" football team that won a Superbowl was the 2000-2001 Ravens. The Stoolers have won it since then, but they didn't win ANYTHING until the rapist started throwing the ball.

To win in 2012 and beyond, the winner needs a GREAT offense.

It's no surprise the worst defensive teams last year ( New England, Green Bay) had the best records. And the worst rushing offensive team ( GIANTS ) actually won the Superbowl. It's all about the QB and the men catching the ball.

I'm with you I think Zimmer will be a tough no nonsense coach that has his team ready to play on sundays. Want to see a young hungry coach not a retread whose system worked in 2001..

"All these teams have top defenses" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since 2000 only the Ravens in 2000 had a "GREAT" defense.

You say the ratbirds woulda shoulda but didn't and the 49ers woulda shoulda. but didn't.... If that's the case the Browns would be 1-0. Afterall we should have intercepted that pass Vick threw.................................

Anyone can get to the playoffs, hell the Bungles got there last year. And they will be lucky to win 6 games this year

Perhaps, though, I could see him having a Jimmy Johnson like career arc.

                          He might be my choice.

Sure, he failed as an NFL HC at Miami.....but Bill Belichick failed as an NFL HC here.

A Harbaugh sister would be better then what we have now

Just scrolling through to post this exact comment.... too late... 😁

                                  As for the rest...

I'm not a Gruden fan. He won with an inherited TB team and then tore it apart. Too volatile for my taste.

Saban has burned his NFL bridges as far as I am concerned with the way he fucked over the Fins. Besides he has all the spotlight and $$$ he needs at Bama.

I think Cowher is interesting. I have no doubt that his fire would reignite in a heart beat. And vs Gruden I think it's the right amount of fire. Plus if he doesn't take a job soon, the calls will dwindle to zero...

Billick - Nothing there but ego...

Reid - Why go after another "can't do it" retread?

                                  Mooch - no

                                  Holmgren - hell no...

What about Jim Tressel? Always thought he was cast in the mold of Bill Walsh, and in the NFL there are no rules against free tattoos...

Please no to Gruden!! he is a phony and reminds me too much of Lane Kiffen...

i would say no to all of these coaches.. I am hoping Jerry can pick the right coach finnaly!!

i knew of gruden when going to sandusky HS. he was no tough guy then. i think he might have taken his napolean complex and turned into this 'chucky' persona. i don't think he's a great coach. if you think billick was lucky then put gruden up there with him.

no one on that list excites me so i didn't vote (there should be a select button for 'none of the above').

i agree with someone in another post that we should hire marty schottenheimer as president (see ya fat boy!) and let him figure out the rest. i wouldn't however flush everyone out who is a part of this coaching squad. i'd keep jauron and any other coach who has proven themselves (shurmur and childress got to go) and i'd keep heckert.

there's something ingrained in this WC style offense we play that just falls flat.

edit: well i just read about banner replacing holmgren, so the schottenheimer reference is null and void. another idea shattered. lol.
