not one sack against the 3rd worst O line in the NFL

  • We had decent enough pressure on Roethlisberger, for the most part, but his elusiveness is what killed us.

When you have a QB who knows how to maneuver in the pocket, can feel the pressure and react to it, and is big enough to shrug off an ankle tackle, you get games like this. Mingo had him dead to rights, but he stood tall in the pocket and got the ball out, took the hit and got back up. Granted, it was an incomplete pass.

We/re missing key components but have a good foundation built. Add a franchise QB (please, after today, let it be Bortles), add a RT who doesn't suck hog, get an ILB who can step up and lay some lumber, and get a #2 CB and we'll be set. I think you'll be surprised at how much better our receivers play when we get a good QB in there.

Anybody notice how Weeden's first pass was to a wide open Cameron, yet was thrown at about 375 MPH? Weeden is the antithesis of an NFL QB. He's all that is wrong with the world. He's the opposite of Batman.

Amen TC- since I'm assuming @ 330+ you're one of those o-line hogs, I also pay attention to the big guys up front. "The Swartz" needs the Force to be with him. Constantly getting shoved back into the quarterback..

No further sense on beating the dead horse Weeden- he did what a bust does- throw passes with no touch, and fumble a ball away. Only POed about the head shot that took Campbell out of the game- not the only reason we lost though.

  • Our Defense against the run sucked today. Haden made critical errors. We sucked overall. Weeden didn't lose this game, the Browns did. They were not prepared. They were soft.

BS- on the Haden screw up. Joe was expecting deep help on the TD- why he let up- blame that one on Gipson for not properly diagnosing the play.

  • our first pick next year will be interesting to say the least. If we stay at 4 wins, which could very well possibly be....we may have a pretty good pick. But maybe not high enough before Bridgewater and Mariota come off. "If" those guys are off the board when we pick, do we still take a qb? Honestly, if the top 2 or 3 qb prospects are off the board I don't want to spend yet another first round on a "maybe/maybe not" qb. I only want to spend the 1st pick on someone who will start opening day, a guy close to what Luck is. And that will take a hell of a football brain, one i'm not sure is there with these prospects next year. Athletically yes, the tools are all there but year after year we see guys come out with all the tools but they just simply can't handle the big league. I dunno....like i said if those top guys are gone and there's an offensive lineman that will start opening day...like another JT, than take that. Or take Clowney if just to keep him away from the other AFC north teams. I really like what I see from Clowney though, he handles the run as well as he pass rushes.

Why do you assume Bridgewater and Mariota aren't "maybe/maybe not" QB's? They're the best of this class, supposedly, but they are no Luck. There is no sure fire #1 QB in this draft. In a draft like this, you take the guy who fits your scheme and has the highest upside couple with the lowest amount of flaws.

I feel there are 4 franchise QB's in this draft, and they aren't all who you'd expect.

i agree with both your posts. man after we pick our 'franchise' QB we should finish the D with the positions you mentioned and then flush the whole right side of the OL with draft picks and FAs.

  • Tajh Boyd

    ILB

    CB

    WR

    RG

    RT

    in that order

  • It doesn't matter what order, if we take Boyd we will suck next year too.

  • ah, baloney. The sacks are simply because:

    1. Rapistbooger got the ball out, FAST. And the wr's are tall, and owens and skrine

    are midgets.

    2. They threw all over Carder, and sorry, Buster fans,

but Skrine is too freakin short, and often finds himself

out of position to boot. He's a great special teams player,

    and occasional nickle back, depending.

    3. They played to the Browns weakness - throwing quickly, and

using the weather to pound on a couple of the Browns' linebackers.

Jericho cotchery is over 6 feet, the rest of the steelers wide receivers are 5'11 or smaller of the ones that caught passes.

  • They are tall...compared to skrine and owens. Go take out

your doggone garbage, wash the dishes or somethin.... ggg

Rapistbooger - did you actually just say that? Which are you, a 5th grader who still calls people poopyfaces or one of the mindless morons who lack the ability to think for themselves and let whatever they hear from the media with the sole agenda of getting people to respond to innuendo (see Mike Florio) - I suppose you think Jamieus Winston is just as guilty.

Instead of resorting to stupid comments - its pretty simple what happened today: the Pittsburgh Steelers are simply a superior team to the Cleveland Browns.

The Steelers Offensive Line - which has struggled this year; is simply not as bad as the stats indicate - and in fact it is getting better because two players who were very high draft picks and missed most of 2012 are gaining traction (David DeCastro at RG and Marcus Gilbert at RT). DeCastro is especially becoming effective - dominating Suh and Fairley two weeks ago and manhandling Taylor today. Gilbert had a good rookie year in 2011 - and after a slow start right side of the Steelers line is getting settled. When their best lineman Maurkice Pouncey returns next year (and if Adams can at all improve enough to push to start at LT) the Steelers OL problems will be a thing of the past.

This is not the same Steelers team that started 0-4.

    • Le'Veon Bell - is giving the Steelers better balance at the RB position and making plays
    • Heath Miller - the Steelers team MVP in 2012 is the best TE no one talks about; was still recovering from a knee injury suffered in Week 17 last year
    • Antonio Brown - had a slow start but is leading the NFL in catches (74 for 952) and on Thursday will be the 3rd WR this year to top 1000 yards - probably will break the franchise record for catches & yards (Ward - 112 & Thigpen - 1398) in the same season.

Ironic - I do remember how in 2007, this board was ablaze with how superior Kellen Winslow and Brandon Edwards were to Steelers counterparts Heath Miller and Hines Ward. Yet Winslow and Edwards were all but given away and bounced around the league. Of course there were some fools from the old Akron Beacon Journal msg board who claimed Charlie Frye was better than Roethlisberger

And at the end of the day - to make it simple - the biggest difference between these teams is BEN ROETHILSBERGER.

    • You hate him because he always beats you - the only time the Browns have beaten him was when he was playing very hurt.
    • The highlight of your 2011 season was the severe high ankle sprain that effectively ruined the Steelers playoff chances in a 12-4 season; it possibly cost the Steelers another Super Bowl and your radio stations were full of callers celebrating it as if it were 1986 and the Browns/Kosar were about to play Denver in the AFC Championship.
    • You wanted him to be guilty of sexual assault, even though he was innocent, (although you would never let the facts get in the way of your opinion) - which is disgusting. You wanted a rape to have occured just because he is a Quarterback of a rival team - shows where your priorities in life are.
    • And you hate him because he was sitting right there at pick #7 in 2004 - with no need to have the Matt Millen led Detriot Lions fleece you out of a 2nd round pick; and he was an Ohio born and raised Quarterback but your organization chose to go with a TE who is hanging onto his career by a thread with the Jets

Yes, but that all comes down to one single factor:

The Steelers Offensive Line - which has struggled this year; is simply not as bad as the stats indicate - and in fact it is getting better because two players who were very high draft picks and missed most of 2012 are gaining traction (David DeCastro at RG and Marcus Gilbert at RT). You can stop right there. Whatever else you said is either wrong or irrelevent.

  • Well, FSG, nice of you to drop in and gloat after the fact.

    Coward...

I hate the squeelers, and most squeeler fans who act like you.

That's all. Even the ratbird fans at the tailgate...they hate you worse, maybe.

    Although, it's probably a tie.

I've already said before the game that the squeelers had been losing because

they didn't cheapshot qb's out of games, and olinestruggles. Add to that,

our qb, the one who has a brain and a heart to match to be qb.... is hurt.

And Lewis is hurt. And, with the Browns having little running game going...

    the weather made it tougher.

The squeelers just went to a quick wr screen thing. It worked. Don't plan

on it working every week, that's all.

And bent rothlicksbooger is just a sasquatch behind fast, get open receivers.

And again, our qb was taken out of the game. Like the cheapshot, most notably,

vs Cincy when they took out their qb asap.

What goes around, comes around. Eventually.

But I'm sure that whatever gay site you come from, will ban Browns fans from showing

up at the next Browns win over the squeerlers.

    Have a nice day, buttcrack.
