Pettine might wait another game to name starter.

  • I think I see now why they kicked Bernie Kosar off the broadcast team. Hed have a field day with JF, Hoyer and these WRs

  • Honestly, I'm not sold on Hoyer as the starter. We're basing his worth on 2 games last year and the 1st game was not pretty. I say go with JF and let the pieces fall where they may. Note, I said Johnny Football, not the guy the coaches are trying to mold into John Manziel.

When are people going to get it.

Johnny Football is a style that can only work in the back yard, highschool and college.

The improvise shit that folks throw around all predraft is nothing but a product of chaos football and a superior supporting cast. He tried to dance and run yesterday without much success. He was chased down from BEHIND by a 3rd STRING DE yesterday.

  • Call Romeo Crennel and find out if you can borrow that coin he tossed.

    WSS

  • Start johnny football. Remember how russel wilsons struggled almost his entire rookie season, if we have to go through that go through it. We drafted him in the 1st round so lets get him all the experience. Throw him in the fire vs pittsburgh

  • I don't remember how Russell Wilson struggled at all? He had 3k yards 25 plus tds and 10 ints.

  • All pettine has shown Me so far is hes a nincompoop.

  • It was a dumb move to say a deadline in the first place. You have the owner trying to shove Manziel down Pettine's throat and you have a new HC who wasn't first, Second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth choice that might be in over his head.

Russell Wilson has brains , something that Manziel is missing which is why he can never be compared to Russell.

Are you talking about Seattles Russell Wilson? Cause his rookie year he struggled for 3,000 yrds, 26tds:10ints, with a 100 rating.....Oh and he almost carried the Seahawks past Atlanta to the NFC Championship game by himself. And if Im not mistaking his 2nd year was about the same as his rookie season give or take a 100 yrds and a int or 2

  • I say make the Muskrat the number 1 QB right now. I wouldn't have said that if Hoyer looked at least a little competent the last 2 games. He's been awful. We'll go 0-3 with Hoyer back there, and Johnny STILL won't be getting first team reps.

Can we admit this season looks like a wash anyways?? Anyone predicting playoffs here?

The only bad thing that can happen is Johnny gets overwhelmed, loses all confidence, and goes and hides in his turtle shell.

Well....then man-up, buttercup. The NFL is incredibly hard. This was why people were kind of hoping he wouldn't fly away to another town to party every weekend, and actually take this job seriously.

Peyton Manning....Troy Aikman.....absolutely awful first years. They didn't pack it up and quit. They both ended up being pretty damn good.

  • I look at who would be the biggest risk of turning the ball over. Johnny Foosball is that risk. Twice last night he had passes that could have been seen as pick 6's.

Hoyer has more game experience, seen the complexities of the NFL and provides the best chance to win. No rookie is walking in front of a Dick Lebeau defense with a penchant for scrambling then living to talk about it.

  • Hoyer should Start without having to look over his shoulder prematurly. (Which he has been doing from the start of camp). Take away all the dropped passes by WRs for both QBs and this "compitition" isnt even close. I watch Redskins 2nd string wrs do 360's on the dead run to catch a ball thrown way behind them, as well as the ones that hit them in the numbers.

When Hoyer came in the second time last night after the 2nd pick. He hit Gordon in stride in the numbers with one guy to beat for a TD or at least to be on the doorstep. (Dropped) And then Hawkins drops an easy TD pass. And dont give me shit about it was behind him. Thats a Fucking Loser Statement. That throw was only where he could caught it we paid him decent money to make those catches. ( Every throw isnt going to be on a TEE)

Hoyers inaccuarcies are less than that of JF and thats just a fact.

all i've heard is how hoyer has 6 years under his belt, hoyer was starting last year..., hoyer should start this year....blah blah blah.....hoyer stunk up the joint last night.....stunk the first game too.....and he's had all the advantages that go with getting most of the first team reps.....hoyer has proven he isn't up to it.....and that's just a fact...!!!

  • anyone else think that maybe pettine isn't up to the job...all he knows is defense....that's probably where he belongs....not head coach......he basically got the job because no one else wanted it.....

  • Delaying a choice until next week is delaying a starter from getting reps and building a much needed rhythm regardless of the choice..

While they both stunk it up last night manziel thusfar has performed very slightly better with far fewer reps with the first team throughout training camp..

I am of the opinion pettine should give johnny finger the start, imo neither of them have earned the job but johnny finger has managed to catch up and has slightly better game stats showing that he will likely bypass hometown hoyers abilities when given all the first reps..

The worst thing that happens in this scenario is johnny rook cant get it done/gets hurt and hoyer the 6 year veteran backup takes over doing what he has always done..

If brian gets the nod and then gets hurt we would be back to square one with johnny rook not having enough work with the ones to have a rhythm possibly losing even more games..

This has become my opinion as well. Not that it means anything

The bottom line is two fold:

    1. Hoyer was the starter at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year. It was Manziel's job to take it away and he didn't do that.

    2. The Browns aren't going to win in Pittsburgh barring a fluke so why put Manziel in that situation if he is indeed the future?

To see if he is the future. If the kid is going to get hurt it doesn't matter if it's week one or year two
  • based on hoyer's performance so far, i'd start grossman and let johnny continue to learn the offense.....hoyer sucks....grossman knows how to play.....neither hoyer or manziel do...manziel might in another month or so.....let rex lead the team......trade hoyer....keep shaw.....

  • jayjay that post is so gaygay....

why is everybody pissing and moaning about the QB play when the WHOLE offense was out of synch

O lines alone usually take a while to gel...

    so just chill

  • The offensive line sucked for both QB's in pass protection.

    The receivers sucked.

Every QB sucked except for Shaw.

  • After last night debacle, it was really hard to even think we are close to being a good team. Our Defense did ok, but will throw in the towel with no support. Last nights game for our offense was so damn bad, horrible throws, could be from timing issues, but i dont think a 10 yards pass is 2 hard to make. I am so tired of hearing from other people how bad we always look, and its pretty damn hard to defend it. I know its preseason and all that jazz, I just hope they get their shit together.

  • The thing that troubles me the most is the lack of effort, passion, and fire.

Without those things, you're totally FUCKED.
