  • No thanks to Carson. Not unless I see his complete background check, and how he feels on important issues.

His take on guns will get him smoked in the primaries.

  • yeah, when he mentioned he'd rather not have semi autos owned by people in urban areas...

if he thought they would fall into the hands of criminals... my phrasing of what he said,

to me, that has to have some explanation.

Offhand, I think he was trying to make a logical point. If I knew joe schmoe's semi auto

was going to be stolen next year, I'd rather joe schmoe not have that gun that was going to get stolen.

Which is nonsense, because you don't know the future. I admire him, but once in a while he

speaks from the hip and misses his point he's trying to make.

    We'll see.

  • He's different for sure, he's soft spoken...not sure if that is good or bad.

Some predict that his comments on gaydom will come back to haunt him.

    http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/04/politics/ben-carson-prisons-gay-choice/

  • Yeah, that point is very much an example, Stuart. What he said was honest,

and warps the point he was trying to make.

  • People in urban areas are the ones that NEED the semi-automatic guns.

People out in the country are the ones that don't need semi-automatic guns.

  • I was just reading up on this guy.

He says he doesn't believe in evolution, but then he says this,

β€œI believe it is a very good idea for physicians, scientists, engineers, and others trained to make decisions based on facts and empirical data to get involved in the political arena”.

  • People in urban areas are the ones that NEED the semi-automatic guns.

People out in the country are the ones that don't need semi-automatic guns. Browns149

The last part isn't true. Try living in back country Arkansas, one example, with a wild population of

wild boar. Going on vacation to Yellowstone.... being threatened with being shot on your own farm by some nut

apparently on something, because you don't allow hunting...(unless it's me...) in your woods...

Single shots don't make it. Not very many people live restricted to a one sq mile area for

most of their life...like woody and chris.... 😎

That's were rifles and shotguns come into it. Would you rather hunt with a 12 gauge shotgun, 30-06 rifle or a 9mm pistol in the backwoods or on a farm

It depends. If you are hiking over rough terrain in bear country... a .45 pistol...

a shotgun would make a big bear or hog angry. If the rifle is no problem to carry, then I'd go with the 30-06.

It's the freedom to choose, own, and carry that is my point. Semi-auto is more to my liking.

The 21 foot rule. Say, a bear or hog or crazedonbathsaltshippiewithamachete comes out from a bush

right at you from 28 feet away. They say it takes only about 1.x seconds for a human being to get to you from 21 feet.

Bear and hog can burst a lot faster. Say you have 3 seconds at 30 feet. You're hiking in Yellowstone, on your farm, whatever.

In that 3 seconds, you don't want to have just a shotgun or bolt action rifle. Semi-auto is what you will want to have.

In three seconds? If I already carry one in the chamber with semi auto, I could probably get two shots off. Three wolves

in Canada or Alaska ? I want more than six shots with a revolver. they say a lot of shots to the head of a hog bounce off.

And grizzlies, I suppose you need to aim right to drop one fast enough.

Which reminds me, I still want to get night sights on my pistol, except they are pinned in, and I have to take

it to the gunsmith.... if I can find the right sights to put on it.

  • So this guy believes the Earth is 6,000 years old and that it was made by god in 6 days?

  • What kind of pistol,Cal? I can point you in the right direction.

if thats the case, he has NO chance of winning.

Why run and waste all that money for nothing?

I hope he wouldn't win, but I am not sure I have that much faith in our fellow citizens

American made SCCY CTX-1. Not a widespread name at all. That's the trouble.

I use the extension on the clip to better fit my hand. It's a tad small on the grip, but it's

    very easy to conceal.

A lot of guides in bear country carry pump shotguns with slugs. If an Alaskan Guide will use a 12 guage pump with Brenneke slugs then I'd say it's safe "bear medicine".

And holy shit, someone actually said 21 foot rule!! πŸ˜†πŸ™„

At various points Bloomberg and Rudy Guilliani have said the close to the same thing. Perhaps for different reasons than Dr. Carson.

  • There are plenty of different ammo choices for a shotgun. Just type "EXOTIC SHOTGUN AMMO" into youtube and they have some crazy stuff out there.

  • I thought of slugs, but if the shotgun is a pumpaction, it takes a few seconds longer

    to get off fewer shots.

eh....with a pistol you can get off shots faster.

A lot more .45 slugs with a semi auto than a shotgun.

though ,I don't plan on ever meeting up with a grizzly, but I want

to take a trip to Yellowstone NP.....

  • I found a bushmaster superlite ar 5.56 at rural king for $477. Nice.

  • I personally would say whatever you feel most comfortable with. A shotgun for home defense is #1 in my book. The sound alone of racking a shotgun is enough to persuade someone from being stupid.
