I say the Browns need a few more pieces to the superbowl puzzle, and
we're all good to go.
And when we get there, not one of the "destroy it all and start all over again"
nasty-nancies-gots-temper-tantrumsies will admit they were wrong.
Just a prediction.
-
You're high on root beer and roundup fumes. We're nowhere close to the super bowl.
-
exactly. besides drafting OL and 4th round rbs and wrs when has farmer went offense?
expect it next year, big time.

Did you even fucking read what I said? Literally the first sentence in my comment was no one is saying they aren't a Browns fan, it's really not hard to read a comment through. Seriously what the fuck does that even mean? Okay I'll just belly up and accept moral victories for another 40 years? All I'm saying is I don't know how you people keep thinking that's a good argument when nothing ever changes. I know that means little as a fan because it's not like we can change anything really. But it also doesn't mean we can't be riled up and not say "aw shucks!" when they puke all over us and be happy they "played hard". That's what my JV squad in high school got to hang their hat on, not a professional football team.
no but it's the people like you just just gotta throw jabs at 'our' team that should be 4 and 2 right now. lost to a team in the last seconds (again) to a team that is 6 and 0. lost to a team in the last seconds that put a whippin on a superbowl fave (the pack) who lost in the last seconds. played great in every game except our first.
glad you and alot here are not motivational speakers. you'd be broke and drinking gin underneath the verrazzano right now.

no, we should not be 4-2....we should be 2-4...i don't recall seeing a stat in the standings called "we should be record"....go call coach parcells and see what he thinks...

But the Browns are getting there, getting very close, and as I look at it,

Just because the win-loss record so far looks the same, check out a ton of details behind the scenes.
You think the ratbirds need to fire all their coaches, get rid of all their players, and start all over again?

i don't know man, i see no improvement on our run d and qb pressure..i see no run game...bottom line is i see no improvement on line play on both sides of the ball...and it has been this way for tooo long..we were alot closer when butch davis was the coach than now..at least he made the playoffs..thats pretty damn close....too bad it ended in typical cleveland browns fashion.

Like I posted in the other thread. Aaron Rodgers is struggling, bigtime.
Guess they need to draft a qb?
I don't think so. They are just missing a few key pieces of their offense.
Same coach, same qb... now think about that.

All I see in that comment is exactly what I'm saying is wrong with the Browns organization. Mik, this is the God damn NFL. Obviously playing a close game is better than getting embarrassed out there, but ALL that really matters is who has more points when it's said and done. We get to say exactly what you're saying over and over again. You could have made that comment in 2005 and it would be just as true as it is today. I could absolutely care less what another team is doing that we played well against, that is completely insignificant.
Why doesn't this whole organization deserve jabs? I mean seriously, why? That doesn't make anyone not a fan of the Browns to be critical of seeing the same tired mistakes year after year.

There's 4 unbeaten teams for starters. New England, Cincinnati, Green Bay, and Denver. Cysko

LOL. What was I thinkin? Well, I reckon I was thinkin "who we have played"....
I was tired......
The point is, we've only played one unbeaten team, and we came oh, so aggravatingly close to kicking their
ass on the scoreboard and winning the game. This team is finding itself. Sure, it's still a loss, but how many years
have we suffered through coaches that need to be fired, poor play, serious lack of talent, locker room cancers,
and few FA's worth their salt would even think about coming to the Browns?
All that has changed. Other players in the NFL see that the Browns are finally headed in the right direction.
there isn't one Browns fan that is NOT sick of losing. the coaches do NOT NEED TO BE FIRED.
What the hell? You start building a terrific home, working all the way up to the roof, and it rains. Some of you
are saying "DAMN, THIS HOUSE LEAKS! LET'S TEAR THE WORTHLESS THING DOWN AND START ALL OVER AGAIN"
And the next time, the same thing happens. It rains before you get the roof finished, water leaks into the house, and
you say "BURN IT DOWN! START FROM SCRATCH ALL OVER AGAIN UNTIL IT STOPS LEAKING"...
So, there ya go. Now, the house wasn't built right in the past, ya. But it is now....it just isn't finished !
ALL OF US ARE PO'D WITH LOSING. But what makes more sense, bitch about getting a few more
final pieces to the roof...er....team... like most of us have a right to do..... or... be lunatics about screaming
that we need to tear the house all the way down to the basement floor, tear up the basement floor, because
the house is still leaking?
A few of you wild asses need to simmer down and at least bitch about losing legitimately.

you are partially right...can't keep firing coaches...however you can do something about the gm who drafted a drunk who was supposed to be our future franchise qb...and i don't want to hear this "well he probably didn't know he was hosed up"...well guess what, that is his job to know..that move has drastically put us back who knows how many yrs..mcCown, bless his heart is probably going to feel more like 46 than 36 after the beating he has been taking this yr. add to the other busts on the draft and horrible fa pickups.....we cannot keep going in this direction...it all starts at the top, just like any business..

and you think they don't know that? you think from haslam down they are not pissed off beyond belief? on paper our team isn't close to having as much talent as those we beat or got beat by. but you have to build something from a broken down car. where do you start? well if the frame is rotted and rusted you build the foundation back up don't you? once that's done you rebuild the body. then the engine. then you paint it up pretty and add the shiny pars to the engine. well i think the browns are still building the engine.
too bad everything in the NFL can't be done as fast as what can be done in one show of a reality tv show about building hot rods.
but firing your head mechanic and body guy isn't the way to go every 2 weeks cuz the job wasn't done under budget or the interior looks whack.

I do. Used to be, that teams could blast up the middle all game long. Most of the runs are hurting
going wide.. The Browns have often slammed down runs for little or no gain. That used to rarely ever happen.
QB pressure... the Browns actually have a problem at wr. They used to have a severe oline problem, one that
they couldn't get a first down running the ball to save their lives.
Now, they regularly kick ass on forcing a defense to give up first downs.
Check this out -
https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/third-down-conversion-pct
1 New England 50.88% 52.78% 41.67% 72.00% 34.38% 46.79% 2 New Orleans 48.31% 48.89% 50.00% 48.84% 47.83% 48.28% 3 Atlanta 47.73% 41.86% 25.00% 42.22% 53.49% 44.29% 4 Cincinnati 46.67% 51.35% 58.33% 45.71% 47.50% 39.82% 5 Cleveland 46.67% 46.81% 40.00% 42.86% 50.00% 29.47%See where the Browns are? That is a kickass huge improvement. Follow the link and take a good look at the
entire rankings. The Browns used to RARELY get first downs - surely they were the "three and out" nfl leaders
some years.
The pressure is because, like Aaron Rodgers was saying, you need wr's that can scare defenses and
get deep, get open, and get the ball. Now, admittedly, I am certainly no experte' on all this, but when guys
like Flugels, Tour, and a lot of guys who know a ton of stuff, see that the lb's are crowding the los, it's because
they are going after shutting down the run, and/or going after the qb, because they know he doesn't have
the wr's to make them pay, at least not very often.
So, they double covered Barnidge, since he's been a killer receiver, and still, the Browns nearly won.
McCown doesn't even HAVE a tall wr, much less a tall, pro bowl caliber wr.
The Browns used to have serious offensive line deficiencies. Now, they have the oline, but they don't have
the wr's to take the heat off the running game.
I see a LOT of improvement, we just aren't there yet... and I'm retired (early because I could),
And overall, this is a young team.
And they are #5 in 3rd down conversions. Surely, they haven't been that high in years.....
Here's a hoot for everybody. This year, the Browns are #5 in 3rd down conversions.... Now, follow that link, and select "2014"...
and look at where they were last year.
-
"mic drop"
so, there ya go. Unless you haven't looked at where the Browns were in 3rd down conversions
in 2014.......
I reckon I should have made that point a new thread, since it will get lost
or ignored pretty quickly by a few people.....

All I'm saying is I don't know how you people keep thinking that's a good argument when nothing ever changes. JRB

all these years of mediocrity, and you think nothing has changed the last couple of years?
Look at the ratbirds' record now. It isn't easy to win when all the pieces aren't in place.
But the Browns are getting there, getting very close, and as I look at it,
far, far closer than ever before, since '99.
Just because the win-loss record so far looks the same, check out a ton of details behind the scenes.
You think the ratbirds need to fire all their coaches, get rid of all their players, and start all over again?

but... did you look at the 3rd down conversion rankings for 2014, vs this year?
Don't make me make it a new thread.

McCown didn't do himself many favors. Played good again at times, against a really good defense, but he made too many critical errors and held the ball too long at times. He also blew the game, and Jim ONeil would be fired tomorrow if I was the head coach responsible for that fucking embarrassment they are calling a defense. As it stands, there is zero accountability for that shit show, and it needs to fucking stop.
Not at the end of the year. Tomorrow.

i think mccown is doing the best he can given that we have no running game and a bad ol..i feel bad for the dude...he has his flaws but i think they are exacerbated by not having good enough players around him.. it's too bad...he's 36 and will be lucky to get out alive before this season is over..then there is johnny...what do we do there.Whoever drafted this guy whether it was the gm or the owner persuading the gm has really put this team in dire straits. Mccown is not the answer, we all know that. He'll be out of football quite soon at his age....tough sitiation in cleeeeeveeeetown...

Our running game was the best it's been yesterday and the OL usually does pretty well in pass protection.
Both interceptions were 100% McCown. Many sacks were 100% his fault too.

I gotta say that I am tired of losing in such dumb ways. There's no legit team in football that would look like we did in the OT period. Defense wasn't even getting lined up or off the field.
There's no other team in football that wouldn't have at least gotten a field goal attempt after intercepting at the opponents 39. It's just dumb, and there's no excuse for how dumb it was.
I'm tired of going to games in our home stadium and having opponent fans all around me . . . Then after cheering on our team to the point I can hardly talk and giving all those opponent fans an unenjoyable 2nd half, just as it seems I would be vindicated in my incessant cheering we find a new and really REALLY dumb way to fuck up at the end of the game. It's fucking demoralizing.
I've been to more home games than not since 99 and I gotta say this was probably the worst loss I've been to. I think it's because this game had the feeling that if we could just pull it off that maybe, just maybe, we were finally starting to hit that elusive corner . . . But it turned out to be business as usual . . . And another opportunity typically wasted.

There is no way this was the worst loss since 1999. You're incredibly short sighted with that one. 500-0 opener against the steelers in 1999? How about the home opener also against pittsbugh with Charlie fucking Frye starting and it was like 40-14? I was at that game and it was 14-0 before 5 minutes had gone by. There's been 20 losses worse than that game yesterday.
